  i love this game so much. it runs perfect on steam deck. i beat all missions on steam deck with my custom control set. game has hard a.i. - i like it. if you enjoy starcraft 2, then maybe you will love kknd as well. have fun.

  The first RTS I played in my life is the second part of this franchise. I was able to play this first part decades later and was very afraid of being disappointed. Yes, it is much inferior to the games that came out after it. But this is 1997! The game is already 25 years old. It doesn't have many of the features that are common these days - terrain effects, fair AI, good balance, asymmetrical sides. That doesn't stop me from indulging in nostalgia. But here is the unique atmosphere of the post-apocalypse in the style of the 80s, as well as a peppy soundtrack.

  A real time strategy game that is less about turtling away while you base build and like, and more.... well, KRUSH, KILL, N' DESTROY! KKND was a very simple RTS game where the two factions present here (the Survivors and the Evolved) essentially mirrored each other's unit roster. In the vein of both Warcraft 1, 2, and Dune II; each unit in KKND would have a similar comparable unit on the other side: eg, the Survivors have a rocket infantry unit and so do the Evolved. Also comparable to Warcraft 2, your resources would be collected at strategic points (in this case, oil deposits); from which you'd have to build a structure on top of to utilize. However, something that really set KKND apart from the other RTS titles was its rather fast gameplay. Unlike either Westwood, Blizzard's, Activisions, or what not; you could build multiple different units at the same time from the same production structure and do so fairly quickly. Maps in KKND were generally quite small so you could easily get into combat pretty quickly. Units were usually quite effective against whatever they were pitted against as well since there didn't seem to be any rock, paper, scissors damage mechanics in play. This said, it wasn't just a 'build, smash, victory' sort of affair either as there was some strategy to be had. Your units could gain veterancy (something that C&C Tiberian Sun would adopt later), and every unit felt like they held some niche of importance. Some might do splash damage, others could move while firing, light infantry could soak up damage for heavier units - or in mass infantry could devastate whatever ignored them. There was also some interesting ideas for base building where you would have to 'upgrade' your existing buildings with a research structure; this as opposed to constructing buildings according to a tech tree like all the other RTS games were doing. Base building was very limited in this game as your HQ structure doubled as your barracks and it and the vehicle producing structures were the only buildings capable of making units (note that the Evolved had two separate vehicle producing structures while the Survivors produced all their vehicles from just the one). I'll note that this isn't really my style of game, but I can appreciate a lot of what it offered anyways. It certainly isn't some subpar C&C clone for sure. I will note though that there is an issue with the opening cinematic however; if you skip it then you'll be unable to play anything, watching it fully though you'll be able to use the game just fine. A nuisance to be sure.

  I just love that feeling of old school shooter with a little mad style. Some levels are real challenge also.

  most games work on windows 10 that say windows 7 this does not. i used to love this game just recently brought command and conquer remastered and loved it this game has not been noticably touched. no resolution options screens out of whack and if your epileptic i would suggest sun glasses. be good to see it playable but like i say i do have windows 10 so maybe it works on 7
