  100% unusable. Causes your computer to physically break. Lags. NO scenario editor. Don't bother wasting your time your your PC.

  I have made simple maps in AoE 1, 2 and 3. I enjoyed the simple and easily understandable interface I had in those games. I do realize this game is more advanced in comparison to the previous games however this editor is extremely daunting upon opening and hits you with an interface that is very very complicated. Also on my system it crashes constantly and lags hard. If updates to this can consolidate the interface and tools into something more user friendly and fixing the crashing issues I'd love to use it more.

  Actually changed mind, try making the map off the template version, Kinda cool you do a broad basic layout and design by coloring in 64ish-1000ish squares(Depending on size)...it then spawns a map...from then there on out you can edit and add things. It took me a few hours to get hang of it, and I still suck at it. Definately less user friendly than the old ways one would make custom maps in AOE2 map editor, but this gives a lot more tools at your disposal....and is much more of a" mod creator". I do still think they should add a custom map designer within the game itself at some point, but it is my no means a necessity at this point, this does the trick for those wishing to be expert modders with this game I feel although you would have to ask them lol...A lot more you can do with this than the old school map editors, just a lot more effort/learning required and also requires way way too much processing power!...but some good tutorials somewhere Im sure. Give it a try, but I would definately maybe watch over a youtube video explaining the main feautures and how to use them first if you can find one.... I Think I may be playing around with this for awhile.

  I tried to open it 10 times and crashed every single time within 1 minute. Until they fix the crashing this is getting the lowest score possible. Once they fix it I will try it out again and give it another review, pretty sad that they released this low quality of a product.

  Programmer here. This "editor" is the worst I have ever seen. It flickers and moves background text around when literally anything happens. Microsoft Word must have been its template... It is not made to be used, yet. Don't waste your time.

  It's not terrible when you get used to it. It is very detailed and complex. There is a lot to learn and you'll only survive if you're very careful with your mouse clicks.

  Clearly everyone reviewing this has little to no understanding of game tools. This tool is specifically for creating mods and requires a very heavy level of technical programming and design skills. This is not simply a map editor, so if that is what you are looking for just play the game. For everyone else, absolutely stunning and powerful tool for modding AOE. :)

  I don't mind that they made their own editor, in fact I appreciate it. However I don't understand even in Beta, how un-userfriendly it is. There is no where that seems to actually show you how to do anything with it. Their Youtube channel does show some basics, however is very limited. I have had a few mods that I have put hours of staring at this screen, wondering why is it that everything seemingly has to be done individually, and there's no real guide to any of this. Just make a guide, or some more videos showing how to do this and/or popular or highly requested mods, and this would change my review completely. I am close to uninstalling this tool and the AOE4.

  Please add a normal map editor besides of this , this one alone cannot be recommend for all.

  Has potential, but as of August 2022 this tool is unusable. Basic things like placing gates in walls is impossible (the spline disappears). And even with a beefy rig and effects disabled there is lag. Will check back in 6 months.
