Slither.io is an incredibly fun online multiplayer game in which players start the game by controlling a small snake-like creature. Your objective is to grow in size by eating up as many colored pellets as possible which can be found all across the battleground. You must avoid any collision with the other players on the battlefield who are trying to accomplish the same task, as contact with the body of other snakes would result in instant death. As players consume pellets, they become more powerful while also becoming more vulnerable to instant elimination. You should try to outmaneuver and trap your opponents if you seek to stay alive longer and become the top champion in the leaderboard! Slither.io Gameplay

The gameplay revolves around the principles of battle royale games combined with the structure of horde survival games in an MMO environment. The game’s survival aspect draws inspiration from games such as “Call of Duty: Zombies”. But instead of surviving against brain-dead zombies, you have to survive against infinite waves of other players! The game has a battle royale aspect to it as well since you are constantly trying to reach the first spot. But instead of winning the game as you reach this golden first rank, you need to maintain it for as long as you can! It is almost like a never-ending battle royale game! The kings get dethroned and other kings claim the crown as the game lobbies progress 24/7!

As mentioned before, you have to take control and guide your snake over a vast battleground. You are tasked with collecting as many colored pellets as possible, which are lying all around your surrounding areas. These pellets do regenerate over time as the battle progresses. The more pellets your slithering snake consumes, the longer he would spread his vigorous body in this never-ending battlefield! But with a long body, comes a slower speed! You have to calculate your maneuvers as you grow longer since you get heavily de-buffed with a slower speed. This is right when the other players will try to blockade your path with their bodies and eliminate you! Your main challenge in Slither.io is to avoid any sort of crash and collision with other players' bodies. If your snake's head hits another snake's body, your snake meets its demise and turns into ashes! What remains is a pool of shiny pellets that other reptiles can ingest and grow their bodies longer!

The pellets that remain from the body of dead players give you a marginal growth boost as the density of these pellets is higher than naturally generated pellets lying on the battlefield. The fear of colliding with other snakes is the underlying peril that will haunt you throughout the game and force you to develop strategies to circumvent it. You should always try to balance your snake’s length with its speed and act accordingly. You should think about when to consume the pellets and when to go for a kill! Speaking of killing poor snakes, you have to use special tactics and outmaneuver your enemies in order to take advantage. We will discuss some of these tactics in the next chapter below. There is always a leaderboard in the corner of the screen that lets you see your rank and also the ranking of the top 10 players on the server. This is the definite “Most Wanted” list! Eliminate them and get their pellets!

From the main menu, you have two types of game modes. “Play Online" is the real-time multiplayer mode that lets you compete against other players online in an instant. You simply insert a username and boom! You are inside the game in a matter of seconds. It is a breath of fresh air to play a game that doesn’t require any sort of registration! “Play Against A.I.” mode lets you play against bots in a safe environment in order to practice your tactics for your upcoming real-time encounters with other players. You can practice as much as you want and jump into the real deal anytime! You can also change your skin in the main menu. The skins are simple but different enough which gets the job done!

Tips for Survival in Slither.io

Here are some tips that might help you in your conquest for the slither.io leaderboard:

• 1. Prioritize your defense: You have to be alert, stay on watch, and be patient. Try to be aware of your surroundings, including the leaderboard and the actions of other snakes. Use a defensive playstyle as you grow longer in length! Protect your head, and align it towards safe areas. Do not go straight ahead toward crowded places. Use your body as a barrier against potential attacks from the other players.
• 2. Stick to the corners: Use the outer edges of the battleground in order to minimize unwanted encounters with larger snakes and sweaty players that tend to roam around the center. Take your time and feed your snake as many protein pellets as you desire! Be careful of other naughty players who might have read this article and were trying to do the same.
• 3. Be the third party in the action: If you see a snake trapped by another sweaty snake, get into the action. First, focus on forcing the poor victim to collide with itself by circling around it. After that, try to attack the offender as it may have lost its defensive power during the assault. It is a dirty tactic!
• 4. Lure and trap: You should lure the other players to follow you across the battlefield and make them think that you are escaping from them. And then, try to make an abrupt turn and make them hit your body with their head! Boom! Do this only if you have the size advantage.
• 5. Slow and steady: Start by gathering smaller pellets and avoid larger snakes. It is risky to go to war unarmed. You can arm yourself with juicy pellets! Try to take on smaller enemies rather than going for giants and being eaten in a matter of seconds. It is safer and slower but it would guarantee higher chances of success.
• 6. Be a pellet thief: Whenever you see a load of pellets lying on the ground try to steal as much as possible while being aware of your surroundings. You can also bait other snakes into the pellets and when they are busy eating their fruity pellets, try to intercept and eliminate them and take all of the pellets for yourself! Just be aware that other players might be trying to employ the same strategy.
