Very Innovative to add superevents to regions, opens massive amounts of potential DLC and Modding content. This was a big and risky step to make for Paradox, but the system implemented is very smooth and is very fun in the context of a game end goal. The next struggle added should be a Byzantine Content patch with a Turkic/Islamic Invasion Struggle, but that is just me. Potential for CK3 is crazy with this, hope Paradox realizes how many doors have opened with this new mechanic. I certainly love it, I hope everyone else does too.

Releasing region-specific mechanics that have universal appeal and can be wholly uprooted and placed in other regions is a recipe for the insipid march of mission trees that plague Europa Universalis. If you're gonna introduce a mechanic, make it universal and then etch in regional sub-mechanics. Don't provide a whole mechanic and then leave the rest of the world barren until you get around to it for a few bucks apiece. It lowers the overall appeal of the game.

Fantastic DLC. The new Struggle mechanic adds a lot more depth to an already chaotic region. Lots of outcomes, and great new events. Iberian events, music, clothing and ruler designer items are all awesome. The effects within each phase of the Struggle are unique and add lots of flavour to the conflict. For context on time, my Struggle lasted about 300 years and ended up involving 15 cultures, and just under a hundred individuals. Highly recommend the DLC as you will get about 15+ hours per play through to get all four endings for the Struggle (Status Quo, Compromise, Conciliation, or Conflict). Definitely worth the value for the added content and playtime.

This one was kind of hard to not recommend. At first, I thought this was easily some of the best DLC in a Paradox game. The struggle feature is a lot of fun, and I was super excited to try it around the map. It turns out the struggle mechanic is currently only available in Iberia, as opposed to a new system that would generate struggles in regions around the map. This artificial limitation is undoubtedly so Paradox can sell additional struggle areas as future DLC. It feels like this is a flavor pack that adds some units and events that was piggybacked off of the struggle mechanic in order to seem like a better value. Fate of Iberia is essentially a paywall to access said struggle mechanic by purchasing some neat new unit models; there is nothing inherently "Iberian" in the struggle system that couldn't be replicated in other regions. Now that they have the framework in place hidden behind a flavor pack, they are free to crank them out and sell them off piecemeal, so expect to be purchasing other regional struggles within the year. A good comparison to this can be seen by looking at their Royal Court DLC. Instead of a royal court system that spans the entirety of the map, Fate of Ibera's equivalent would be to release something like a "Court of England" Flavor Pack that introduces the royal court system, but artificially limits it to the UK region in order to sell us future royal courts as DLC - something that I'm sure Paradox is kicking themselves over not doing and attempting to rectify with this release. As it stands, this is predatory DLC that adds a cool mechanic to a specific region that actually makes other regions less fun to play as they now feel lacking. After getting this DLC, I've actually played CK3 less than when I didn't have it. Struggle mechanic = great Artificially limiting a mechanic to a specific region to parcel out future DLC = not so great

The first thing the devs need to do is pat themselves on the back for introducing innovative features that are really coalescing into a game that will finally start to compete with CK2 in terms of content. Second thing they need to do is introduce struggle regions to the British Aisles and Scandinavia. Making it free in an update would be nice as well. If you're a casual fan of the game like myself, then there is enough content for you to get to the next dlc without trouble. If you're a hardcore fan putting in 4-8 hours a day, I'm afraid you'll just find the rest of the map bland after playing in Iberia. Overall, a fine edition to the game.

I think the DLC is great except for one major flaw and that's late game Iberia. Locking Hispania behind ending the struggle is interesting, but it really sucks that you can't just end the struggle by controlling every county in Iberia unless it's in the hostile phase. Even if you play as a Muslim ruler and avenge the battle of tours, if Iberia is not in the hostile phase than you're locked out of forming Hispania, and because reaching the hostile phase requires there to be multiple states battling against each other and overall court intrigue, if you control all of Iberia and it's not currently in a hostile phase you're stuck with a kingdom doomed to fall due to succession. I would recommend this but there needs to be a new way to end the struggle by controlling and converting every province in Iberia regardless of the current stage, it's a great DLC but it ruined my first game on it.
