  The game still looks good and it's fun despite how old it is. To make it work on Windows 10 you need DXWND and set the options "Window mode" and "Flip correction" (to avoid the mouse trail). It's a shame that steam can't be bothered to make it work out of the box

  HOLD ON FOR A MINUTE! Somewhat 20 years ago, I played this game for dozens of hours. It's awesome, even after that long time. The graphics are nice, even for today's standards, if you take into account how old it is, but it looks... good this way. No, really, that shouldn't concern you. The story, well, if you know the legends and ballads, then you know what this is about. And in the end, everyone knows who Robin Hood was (or at least, what people told over centuries). The gameplay is very static, but features some nice elements that seem to have got lost in game development over the years. You can actually fight with the cursor (attack from left or right, defend, beware of friends nearby...). Could've been more different maps, but hey, it's ok. So overall, it's a nice game, even after all those years, BUT! DO! NOT! BUY! IT! ON! STEAM! Get it on GOG or anywhere else, but the Steam-Version is buggy beyond repair. Tried it, failed. Maybe it's possible, but I bought it again on GOG for a few bucks. Don't get it here, get it somewhere else.

  When I ran game first time, I experienced massive lag (Win7x64 OS). Searched the net and found solution in this link: http://www.gog.com/forum/robin_hood_legend_of_sherwood/the_game_running_slow/page2 Nevertheless game is still great in it's nostalgic world and engaging story, a must have for classic strategy fans. 9/10

  After all those years and still so fun to play. The last time I played this I was 10 years old, I didn't have a lot of money so I played a pirated copy of this. Now that I can afford it I thought I'd just get it legitimately. But one thing led to another and here I am playing it again, rejoicing every moment with memories. This game was where I learnt a lot of English (Eng is my second language). I can still remember that I got stuck for mroe than an hour at the first Friar Tuck encounter because I didn't know what a "vestry" was. Had to play the game with a dictionary by my side. If somebody could go and make a HD remake of this, I would be so happy. 10/10 would buy again Anyway, this won't run properly on Windows 8. I used the free version of VMWare - VMware Player to install a virtual XP machine to play in. Note: u'd need to "acquire" an XP iso to install the virtual machine. There is flickering but switching graphics - resolution to 800x600 and back to 1024x768 fixes it for a single mission. If this was a modern game, it'll be unacceptable but this came out in 2002 so I don't mind a bit hassle.

  This game doesn’t match up very well with "Desperados" or the "Commandos" games, and it's just flat and unimaginative. It is an okay game, which I enjoyed playing when it first came out, but those other two titles were way better.   This game is a jewel. It's as fun as it was when I was ten years old. Just priceless. If you like it, be sure to check out Desperados and Commandos. Almost the same thing. Oh, and the game, as it is, has a problem with the new versions of windows, but a fast internet search will lead you to the fix. Have fun!

Otherwise its good. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Getting playable FPS The user ScottiePrimo from the GoG forums found a fix regarding the low FPS. 1) Download the following... http://188.138.113.72/SHARE/rpollice/DSWin8.zip 1.1) Unrar the downloaded file (DSWin8.zip) and you should have two files in the extracted folder (ddraw.dll and aqrit.cfg). 1.2) Place these two files into your "Steam\SteamApps\Common\Robin Hood" directory (in with the game.exe). 2) Download V2_02_90_build.rar of DxWnd from... http://sourceforge.net/projects/dxwnd/files/Latest%20build/ (I've been advised by other users that the newer versions don't work for the purpose of running this game.) 3) Unrar and inside the extracted foler and run "dxwnd.exe" as administrator. Go to "Edit->Add", in parameter "Name" set the name as Robin Hood. 4) In parameter "Path" choose the .exe file of the game (in my case it looks like Steam\SteamApps\common\Robin Hood\game.exe). 5) In the "Main" tab, under "Generic" untick "Run in Window". 5.1) Also in "Main" tab, under "Position" set "Window initial position & size" to X=0 and Y=0. Set "W" and "H" to your native resolution (in my case that's W=1920 and H=1080). 6) In the "Video" tab, under "Windows handling" tick "Modal Style" and under "Color management" tick "Set 16BPP RGB565 encoding". 7) Next in "Input" tab tick "Hide Cursor". If the cursor flickers on the main screen of the game don't worry, it works fine in-game. 8) Lastly click "OK" in dxwnd, if all is good it will show a green circle before the name of the game in DxWnd. Launch the game in Steam (Not in DxWnd itself, DxWnd runs in the backround!). You may get an error/alert that says something like "SetHook: proc=GetAvailableVidMem(D) oldhook=26b3e0". If this happens just press the Return key on your keyboard. If you can't select the error/alert window use Alt+Tab keys to cycle through the open windows. This part is just a bit of a trial and error, I don't know why it happens but you can get past it. 9) You will need to start DxWnd every time before you launch the game. When you close dxwnd, answer "Yes" to save the options that you changed. That's it... I hope these fixes work for you aswell and if they do then have fun playing! :)

Game itself: Ca. 30 hours for a sneaky playthrough. Much faster, if you wont reach >90% stunned enemies. Real Classic.
