Train Sim World 2: S-Bahn Zentralschweiz: Luzern - Sursee Route Add-On Funciones

About This Content

Experience the thrill of racing around tight bends, tackling steep gradients, and providing an intense passenger service in the heart of Switzerland. State-of-the-art traction and systems await with Rivet Games’ S-Bahn Zentralschweiz: Luzern - Sursee!

The Central Switzerland S-Bahn project was introduced in 2004 to bring together the various regional lines around Luzern and Zug into a more centrally orientated commuter network, the heart of which is Luzern Railway Station. The network was broken up into many different lines, and the S1 traverses the rails of the former Oltern-Luzern railway, which dates back to 1856. Today the line is important as ever, serving as a commuter corridor linking together the towns within the canton of Luzern.

It’s your job to take control of the varied passenger services on this route. Take in the sights of Lake Sempach, Reuss and Kleine Emme Rivers, and weave through towns and industrial estates on both stopping S1 and Regional Express services between Luzern and Sursee.

Climb aboard the modern and sleek SBB RABe 523, this 4-car EMU was built to fulfil local and regional operations throughout Switzerland, and it is used extensively throughout the route, making good use of its rapid acceleration, comfortable riding and the state-of-the-art ETCS in-cab signalling system.

Choose how you want to play; drive trains, ride around as a passenger, complete the route tasks, or simply pick a vantage point and watch the action unfold. Create your own experiences with the Scenario Planner and Livery Designer. Whatever you choose to do, there's lots to see and experience in Train Sim World 2: S-Bahn Zentralschweiz: Luzern - Sursee.

If you were hoping for a correct implementation of ETCS, you'll be disappointed. I don't believe they even understood what the difference between Limited Supervision and Full Supervision is.

Route is too short. It's no wonder they don't advertise the route length in the description of the DLC. Without stopping at any station along the route, you can get from end to end in around 17-18 minutes. Even on sale I do not think that it is worth the price.

The Train Model is so great. Rivet Games did a great Job at making the train Model. What disappoints me tho is the lack of a lot of features in the Game. A lot of Buttons do not even work in the Train. The route is also way too short. I rate it a 6.5/10 because of the Lack of features. I would recommend this DLC if it was not this expensive.

This is not a great DLC. I don't recommend getting it now without any patches or fixes. While the route itself looks okay and the train looks good, the DLC features broken signalling (ETCS not showing current/next speedlimits at all sometimes, so you just randomly get an emergency brake), quite poor sounds for the train (they aren't very close to the real train) and in general a lot of bugs (AI trains without headlights and destination boards, missing destinations for some services, a very dark tinted windscreen so you can't look outside that well and it just looks bad) Besides that, the route offers little variety and is very short for the price you pay. S-Bahn services with all stops take 30 minutes, Regionalexpress services around 20 minutes. It only features one train, it will get boring really quickly. My verdict and advice: Wait for a) fixes and patches and b) a sale.

It's simple, and I like it for that. I highly recommend for anybody who isn't trying to spend a lot of time on TSW, but still wants to drive. All the timetable scenarios top out at about 30 minutes, which I think is nice. The sounds seem great, alongside the graphics, so I can't complain there. Apparently people have a bone to pick with the safety systems, but I would not know as I don't really look into those that much. So all in all, I think it's a good pick for anyone who wants to drive passenger services but don't have all the time to invest in PZB safety systems or anything beyond 30 minutes for scenarios. It does a great job of offering you all you need to know to play the route in tutorials.

S-Bahn Zentralschweiz: Luzern - Sursee is Rivet Games' latest DLC for Train Sim World 2, representing modern electric commuter train operation in picturesque Switzerland. The good things: - Route and scenery building in many places is detailed and plentiful. - The train's model is good and detailed The not so good things: - The route's overhead electric wires (OLE) do not zig-zag. This is OLE engineering 101. - The route is incredibly short. An end-to-end run takes maybe 30 minutes, even less so on the RE express services. - The signalling system of the route is the dog's dinner. --- Signalling bugs in many places lead to a very poor experience, and many emergency brake applications which should not happen. --- The ETCS L1 Full Supervision ("FS") should be the star of the show, but it's really not. The system is incorrect for the route (Switzerland does not have L1 FS), but even when ignoring that: it's not great. --- The driving experience under ETCS L1 FS should similar to driving under LZB (but then with intermittent updates, rather than continuous), but this system does not provide that at all. In many places the system updates at random intervals and gives the driver no time to react, leading to an emergency brake application. It's particularly bad in the Sursee>Luzern direction. --- After an intervention by the ETCS system, the train should release its brakes once the target speed is met. This does not happen. Instead, the brakes are released when the speed matches 0 km/h - and the train immediately accelerates again. Incorrect and non-prototypical behaviour. - "Dispatch beyond stop" is not enabled in the service mode, causing lots of approaches to red signals. --- While one could say 'this makes the drive more interesting', the buggy implementation of ETCS leads to an unachievable timetable and a drive experience which would lead to a chat with your driver manager.... without tea and biscuits. In conclusion: Do not buy this route at full price. If you're eager, wait for a sale where it's at least 40% off. And let's hope for some fixes. They're needed.

Thorough look of the route: https://youtu.be/l0YCpMSiymY ============================ Yes, but just... The great stuff from Rivet Games for TS classic doesn't always translate well into TSW2 (i.e. Arosa Line) but this seems a step up from their recent products for TSW2 Cons: -The route is insanely short -Only 1 type of rolling stock -Distant scenery still looks mehhhhh..... (a little better than Arosa) -Sounds aren't 100% proto, but passable to me (*) some mixing seems off (Like w Arosa) -Some trackside scenery seems unfinished and bland in the mid section of route in places -Customizable PIS on train - yet its pre set for a TT run??? bit pointless -Ballast and ground seems close... but wrong. Should be more greyish (seems brown in game) Pros: +Alot of great custom scenery and assets all around +Infrastructure looks up to snuff, from OHLE, Stations, signage, signals +The 523 model looks and feels great, an overhaul from the TS classic. Phys seem on par (the GE 4/4 was not) accel & brake nicely +Door squeal and chime is nice +Interior looks great, run sounds are nice and clunky/bass-y but sometimes a little too too overpowering mix wise +EMU sounds are *similar* to the real thing fwiw, afaik, ymmv, etc. It seems to miss that spooky wail/hone sound and higher pitch of higher output but it's no quite right - a caveat is they seem better than the TS classic vers. +Nice variety in the route itself, starting in medieval-walled-city Lucerne following the lake/river north thru more urban/modern burbs, up thru industrious areas and farmland to the picturesque & quaint town of Sursee next to the Sempach Lake +SOME of the distant scenery seems better than Arosa, but more 2D trees please +The 523 seems fairly in depth functional-wise with ETCS safety systems included To me it seems a better offering than Arosa, quite a bit of detail and a nice EMU and the pros outweigh the cons ***6.5/10*** (most likely will change w more play time)

Generally critical of TSW2 and Rivet Games I have to give this dlc a definate thumbs up. Positives; - immersion is great (something not typical of TSW2) -train looks superb: inside and out -tutorials are short and concise -full credit to Rivet for including a much needed manual including route map and lots of other stuff. (shame on DTG for not doing so on their products) -at last! the sound is loud and engaging (this has made a massive difference to enjoyment) -route scenery looks generally very good. lots of industrial scenes well depicted, although perhaps a little more detail on mid/ distant scenery would be good -price with initial reduction is reasonable -ETCS signalling is good, anticipate and brake ahead of the curve (and stay under it) to avoid the emergency brake application: listen for the imminent warning bleep Negatives: -the route is a little short -only 1 train to drive -many TSW 2 limitations still spoil the route (lack of contrast/ brightness settings, daft depth of field effect, poor weather effects etc) Overall a solid job from Rivet. I think and hope they will continue to drive the quality of tsw2 upwards. Generally fun to drive. 8/10+

I was very hyped about this DLC, but i have to agree with the other ratings. The route itself is really short, and not contains too much segments where you can go higher than 140 km/h, but its still really short whether you go slow or fast. Okey that's not the point. The real problems are the following: 1. Sounds, sounds and sounds.. Rivet Games does not like to work too much on sounds or make any research on that train's sounds, they just randomly choose some sounds for that train and thats it. It has nothing to do with the real one. This happens all the time, i did not bought so much dlc from them, but i saw other peoples commenting how bad the sounds are in the previous dlc's. Which sounds are messed up? Like the door opening or closing sounds (and animations). They are a bit similar to the real one, but not percect. Plus when the doors are closing they forgot to make that red hemisphere flashing above the doors. The biggest issue with the sounds are the motor sounds. There is literally no sound of the accelerating or decelerating, you can only hear the "background" noises, when like the train is holding it's current speed, but this is the only sound. The base game's trains and the trains that Dovetail Games made, not Rivet games, are have accelerating and decelerating sounds, if they could maket it, then why Rivet Games couldn't? 2. Just a few interactive interfaces. Most of the buttons in the cab are not working. For example, where can I close or open the main circuit braker, or adjust the headlights brightness? Without these, driving this train is not really realistic. 3. Not realistic performance. In real life this train is one of the top leaders in best accelerating and decelerating. Now, i compared the in-game Flirt with the real one, and with full accelerating power the real Flirt reached 160 km/h and the in-game Flirt reached only 120 km/h in the same amount of time! And if we take look at the decelerating, the in-game Flirt is really really weak and too soft. With maximum braking force (10), the train just gently starts to slow down like I just put it to 1 or 2. In real life the Flirt can stop in no time, unlike in the game. This train should be way more powerful.. I am not really recommend this DLC unless my three points will be fixed.

Disappointed by the route and have refunded. The ETCS implementation is unusable in its current state. Speed changes give the driver no warning and apply emergency brakes to a full stop. Undrivable and would advise others to avoid. Not worth purchasing until an update is released to fix the signalling system.
