Nature

Wyoming may be one of the least populated states in the U.S, but that doesn't mean that it lacks spectacular places to visit and see. Home to some of the country's most breathtaking national parks, Wyoming is best known for its red-walled gorges, hot springs, historic prairie towns, pioneer history, and historical attractions.

Wyoming designated the American bison as the official state mammal in 1985, and to this day you can still find large herds of them grazing across the prairies and protected land which is designated for the conservation of wild bison since their decline across the US.

Located in the west of Wyoming, the Bridger-Teton National Forest, best known for the four W's - Wildlife, Waterfalls, Wilderness, and Wild and Scenic Rivers, is the largest intact ecosystem in the lower 48 United States and a must-visit location for any traveler.

Devils Tower is a famous butte with hundreds of vertical cracks and a total height of 5,112 ft (1,558 m), which makes it an extremely distinctive feature in the area full of prairies. This natural wonder is much better experienced by seeing the "bigger" picture with everything around; therefore the closest possible point will be the visitor’s center and in front of the gate at the entrance to the park. But do not weep, because there will be a nearby farm and an interactive viewpoint below the tower, in which the most attentive may find something very interesting.

Industries

The agriculture industry is one of the state's largest contributors to the local economy. While crops, fruits, and vegetables make up a large percentage of this industry, the production of beef is the largest part of Wyoming's agriculture sector. Many of the cattle are usually sold and exported around the world from Livestock auction houses, which will be one of the new industries arriving to Wyoming.

Another form of logistics that is prominent across the state is the railroad. Contribute to the maintenance of the locomotives that serve the railways as you deliver important rail parts to and from the rail supply depot, as well as delivering and picking up cargo from the freight trains that arrive daily.

Chemical plants and quarries will also be other locations where drivers can pick up and deliver various parts and materials from. These loading points are always located on the edge of the refinery or quarry to keep drivers safely away from the active mining areas.

Road network

Legend says that a certain trucker (we’re all feeling proud here right?) decided one day to take a picture while driving on Interstate 80, as he was approaching an area near Fort Bridger known as "The Three Sisters". The image made it seem as if the road over the crest was never-ending and ever since then, people commonly referred to this area as the "Highway to Heaven".

Time to get back to earth now and mention numerous new road signs which will include speed limit signs, freeway and highway signs, tourist signs, and dynamic message gantries! Speaking of road gantries there’s also a very interesting new visual - gantries with traffic lights at crossroads. These are not exactly a common occurrence, that is why you should always be prepared to take a picture just so you can take it with you "spiritually" wherever you go.

You will also be able to cross several colorful bridges, and if open space is not for you, be sure not to miss the I-80’s Twin Tunnel near Rock Springs. So, get behind the wheel and discover Wyoming!

I got this around the same time I got the last 3 DLCs before it. I had the opportunity to have all four dlcs to explore at the same time. This is very much so the BEST work SCS has made on ATS yet. Wyoming is a marvel to behold. Gorgeous landscape and roads, lots and lots of new road textures. If this is a sign to come when we get Texas. Wow. It is going to be amazing.

Wyoming... Oooooooh boy, the devs have zero fault for that one, but this state is difficult to defend. Before I start: If you don't have either Idaho, Utah or Colorado, that state is pretty much inaccessible without fast travelling, so keep that in mind. Right off the bat: For a state that is known to have nothing in it (and even joked about not existing), SCS did an AMAZING job to try and make it more vivid. The northwest and west of the state are pretty much where the good stuff is: Places like Yellowstone look STELLAR, and driving from there down to Jackson was breathtaking, especially going through Grand Taton. Drive from Riverton to Sheridan by going north, and you have some nice, difficult hills with lots of turns and some places that'll get you to spam F12 on your keyboard in a hearthbeat. Plus, almost all of the borders with it and other states (save for Colorado) have something nice on them: Bridges, a dam, sweeping roads, a really big lake with some snowy hills at the distance, cozy looking farms... Whatever breathtaking view you want, you got it! But here's the catch: A majority of this state is boring. And I mean it: boring. Approaching the state from Fort Collins in Colorado, through Cheyenne and up until Gilette, you're getting a highway that is really flat, with not a lot going for it. Take it from Salt Lake City into Evanston and keep on going until Cheyenne or Casper, and you'll notice the honeymoon with Wyoming will be over when you pass Rock Springs, because the rest of the state does not have a lot going for it. And some research is enough to know that the states to the east of it will only make it worse. Plus, there is another problem: A good part of the connections between the surrounding states aren't worth the hassle on your every day delivery. For example, if you're going from Idaho to Rock Springs, the game suggests you to go through Utah instead of directly through Wyoming, because ID->WY roads take so long to drive through. Plus, there are zero deliveries through Yellowstone other than a Special Transport one, so if you don't have that, you're out of luck. Plus, most deliveries you'll see will get you far from that fun part of the state. Wyoming also does not serve as a "middle state" right now. Let's say you're in Oregon and have a delivery in Denver: You'll go through Idaho, Utah and Colorado, never passing through Wyoming. If your delivery point is in Cheyenne, you'll go till Denver, then turn left, going north and arriving in Cheyenne. Even the game dislikes going through Wyoming, because not only is it boring, it's also slower. As it stands right now, if you wanna pass through Wyoming, you have to start or finish a delivery there, which just makes matters worse in my opinion. I hope this changes by the time we get Montana or the Dakotas, because as it stands right now, Wyoming for me is in a pretty weird spot. Whether or not I can recommend it, I feel like this one is a maybe, but Steam just works with yes and noes, and I feel like the cons outweight the pros, so no it is. The devs did their best, the good parts of the state are genuinely the peak of this game's beauty, it's real life and the midwest who are to blame for being awful to drive. You won't be visiting said good parts that often, which is a shame. If you have all the states so far, or you like this game for touristing above truck driving, for sure, give Wyoming a try. Texas and Montana apparently won't be coming anytime soon, so any new content is surely appreciated on that case. But if you're still lacking other states, or you're on a budget, or you're thinking about getting this as your first ever DLC, or you're thinking about getting this one to avoid Utah, give other states a chance instead, they're more worth it than Wyoming is.
Wyoming
Wyoming is where the untamed spirit of the West and majestic natural beauty open your mind and invigorate your senses to release your own inner freedom and sense of adventure. This is how wyo.gov introduces the state and SCS has captured that essence quite well with the marvellous national parks and forests. But this DLC lack in terms of buildings, for example the only noticeable building in Cheyenne is the Cheyenne Depot Museum but it doesn't have the Wyoming State Capitol Building which is a very prominent building. If you like cruising around in a beautiful landscape this DLC is for you, if you look for distinct buildings and sights maybe it isn't. [edit_211121-0547] I forgot, this DLC has a lot of information boards, more than I've seen anywhere else. But there's a problem. The text is almost impossible to read. Please SCS, increase the texture detail! If performance would be an issue put it under some LOD-rule or something. [/edit_211121-0547] [edit_211121-0657] Also this DLC has one of the worst achievements ever devised in the history of gaming! So if you are to aim for a perfect game, purchase a large Elixir of Patience [/edit_211121-0657]

I would give this one 5 stars, if it was not for the lack of quality control from SCS. There are so many junctions where street name signs are floating and traffic lights clearly missing. How did this ever pass through Q&A? Almost every town has some of them. And the routing of traffic at times is weird, like full speed through a gas station, or into a fence (where the car would dissapear). Did somebody fall asleep while checking this DLC? Besides from that (annoying) issue, it is a very nice looking state and worth the money.

Don't get me wrong, this is a great DLC and I highly recommend it since Wyoming is such a big place for trucking. The biggest qualm I have with this is there are hardly any mountains in the distance. I live in Laramie, and if you look out east you will see the mountain that I-80 cuts through. If I look the west, I'll see the snowy range mountains very easily. If I look south, I can see the sprawling rocky mountains from I-80 that go into Colorado. Same can be said while in Colorado, you don't really see the Rockies which is a huge shame. That's really my only gripe with this DLC. Everything else I can look past since they have to cut down on size. Please SCS, if you see this. Add the mountain ranges to Wyoming and Colorado. It would mean so much.

It's good, but there's not much

Yet another well-made and beautiful map DLC! There's not much to say except that the road network feels relatively small - within just hours of playing and delivering cargo with Steam achievements in mind you may find yourself to have explored every single route that Wyoming has to offer. For a state this big, I was expecting to see more scenic, mountain roads, but what we got instead was primarily just main logistical routes and a small bit of Yellowstone. Overall, this is a good DLC offering a decent amount of new content and natural beauty, but does lack in value compared to other similar map DLCs for this game. Going for other map DLCs such as Utah, Colorado or Washington first is highly recommended.

I have played this DLC for a couple of hours now at the time of this review not sure why it says 0 hours on record however Steam has been acting dumb a lot these days...
