The main love interest is a LITERAL CONFEDERATE and you're suppose to like him?????? Nah man, I'm out. I remember when the previous "alpha" version was on Deviantart, and I had fond memories of it. Did I just block a lot of these problematic details out from back then, or is this a new thing added? I wish I never bought this because the nostalgia is honestly ruined. I'd rather not date racist, slave owning vampires, thanks. They never mentioned owning slaves, but the guy literally is a European man, in Georgia, with a cotton field in 19-whatever. IT DOESN'T NEED TO BE SAID!

This game was no where near as fun as I remembered. The storyline was so damn political even though it’s a game advertised for some kind of forbidden vampire romance. It comes off more as a poor presidential campaign

What puts me off about this game is the same problem I have with other visual novels. The game and the story are superb. The one thing that makes me not recommend this game is. I've played Cafe rouge, the original version. It was a fantastic time. I've paid to support the Developer. I've wanted a Damian route since august 20th, 2012. And what do we get? The Demian's true love route. You can't even put your name in as the main character. We don't get a Damian route. The one dynamic I love about visual novels is how you can personalize the character in the game. So you can give them your name. The set looks for the characters are a give-in. But the name, yes, is changeable in the main route. It left a sour taste in my mouth for Demian to call another girl's name. So good job, Developer, you've ruined my dreams. I'm so not glad to have waited all this time for one character. But then again, what do you expect when you show your support. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I would prefer to give this a mixed review since *some* of the characters are well written. However, there are a significant number of cons with the game which contributed to the negative review. 1) The game itself is very buggy and I encountered many issues such as the inability to go back to the main menu without closing the game completely - and 9 out of 10 times the only way I could close the game was to go to my task manager since the close button wasn't working. (The auto option is glitchy, as it will go normal speed then randomly skip everything as if I hit the skip button - there is no go back option by scrolling up on the mouse wheel as there are in many other story based games.) On my last playthrough I wanted to go the chef route, which I was very interested in seeing more of, however, when I logged back into the game after work one day the window was black. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, didn't work, tried verifying the file integrity, also didn't work. So now it's uninstalled and unfinished. 2) The endings for each route feels rushed. It would be nice to have one last final CG of the couples "riding off into the sunset" or what have you, instead of just a shot of the outside of the cafe with a rushed explanation of the events following the climax. Also, it would be nice if each route was unique in more ways than just which guy she chose. 3) The story reads like it was written by a teenager that has no real world experience, which might appeal more to a younger audience, I suppose. 4) The political rants: They made zero sense and it was incredibly lazy writing. Piggy backing onto real world drama to insert into a fictional world rather than coming up with something original to add friction to the factions within the game is just....annoying and boring. 5) The price: It's not worth $20....I bought this game on sale and still feel like I overpaid for what I got.

I have yet to complete any good routes, but the story is really good and I like the characters. There are some technical issues, especially with the endings being unnaccessible if you reached it from a loaded save rather than playing in one go, though this issue is apparently being worked on. Edit: Issue with loading saves preventing reaching an ending has been fixed. Also, as others have said, the game is EXTREMELY laggy when skipping, sometimes getting stuck on a line for a second or two making skipping rather slow. Also, if you accidentally trigger auto-play, the only way I found to stop it was to open the menu and toggle it from there to stop it since the UI element outside the menu to do it seems to only activate it, not stop it. Unlike most other visual novels, the skip function just skips everything, there's no option to just skip read dialogue, so this can lead you to skip sections you assume will be the same but suddenly realize there's a difference but you've been mostly skipping it. I wish there was more control over sounds since there are some screams which are REALLY loud and lowering the sound so they aren't too loud when they happen makes the BGM too quiet to hear. Overall, the sound effects are pretty bad, though the BGM is good which makes it a real shame that sound effects are so loud I have to basically forget hearing the BGM so the sound effects don't get annoying. Another issue with the game is the author forcing in real world politics into the dialogue with the MC being called a stupid brainwashed liberal, how guns aren't bad because they save lives and how the big bad vampire faction is left wing. I don't care about your political affiliations, but putting them in a game when doing so feels forced as the game would be the exact same without all those political statements is just stupid. If adding real world politics adds to the game, that's fine, but in this case, it's just jarring how unfitting those dialogues are compared to the rest. Overall, the story is great, but the game is plagued with technical issues which can render the experience irritating. If you can look past these issues, the story is definitely worth it.

I have the same problems as everyone else, i still love the story and art, but so far i only got 5 times a bad end while trying Valens route. And when i had to restart the whole game and tried to skip the parts i already read, it wouldnt stop skipping or Auto read went on by itself. The game gets also super laggy when using the Skip function and even froze once completly on me, to the point where i had to close and restart it, in order to get it to work again. I still really enjoy the story itself, but for some reason its super hard to get any good endings, even after trying to follow a walkthrough from the old game. I just ended up getting an even worse ending thanks to that.

i was so excited for this game to come out yet it's turn to be such a disappointment. first of all; there's a lot of bug in this game and i get stuck at some routes with a black screen which i need to play it from the beginning all over. secondly; there's some part of the story seems interesting and some part is just sound off. however the art is really beautiful which made me try and give the game a chance. anyways this is my scores based on: story: 4 / 10 dialogue: 6.5 / 10 art: 9.5 / 10 characters: 9 / 10 heroine: 7 / 10 control on story: 6 / 10 BGM: 8 / 10 settings: 3 / 10 sound effects: 5.5 / 10 overall score: 5.8

First off, I really love the art! Its so beautiful. I enjoy the story, it's interesting and not really what I have seen before. Soo now here are the pros and cons. I'm also a sucker for vampires (^^b~ Pros: - GREAT. I mean BEAUUTIFULLL art - Interesting story - Plenty of options to choose from - Developer is very quick with patching the game and updating it. Cons: - UI is a little bit buggy. Especially with Auto play since maybe it's user error but sometimes it wouldn't turn off for me when I clicked it a couple times. Not too fond of the sound for when clicking options, but you get used to it. - There are some grammar/spelling issues but it didn't bug me too much. - I personally found it really hard to get a good ending... Took me 6.8 hours to get a good ending for one of the characters. Perhaps that's just bad luck (and that I mostly tend to rely on walkthroughs to get good endings). - Spoiler con:
I didn't like the age gap and power dynamic with the MC and Ron... Every time there was something romantic going on between them I always thought back to the age gap with how the MC is 16 and then Ron would've had to been around mid 20s or older. Soo there's that.
Overall: I really enjoyed this game! The art was always pleasing to look at and I'm glad there was attention to detail with the characters stories and design. I'd recommend starting with Valen~. Can't wait for more side characters to come out with their own routes! I really hope for some badges from this game! Backgrounds would be sooo pretty for the steam profile...

Honestly, I wish I could give a neutral review. The art is stunning and the story is nice but the rest of the game is just pure frustration for me. To me, it all comes down to one thing: → All the essentials functions that you NEED in a visual novel are completely buggy and/or unpolished. - As people already mentioned it, the skip function is buggy and soooo slooow. The CTRL key doesn’t work here, so it won’t help. It wouldn't be a problem if only you didn't have to make very specific choices to get a good ending (so you’ll definitely use and reuse the skip button). - The skip feature also skips dialogues you didn't read. It gets even worse when you try to disable it because it takes time AND (one time out of two) it triggers the auto function at the same time (whyyyy??????). At this point, since you've missed a bunch of dialogues, you're going to want to click on the "log" button except that when you'll open the log, you'll realize that the auto function (which is as buggy as the skip function) is still working (even when you clicked on it to disable it!!!). The scene ends as you desperately try to stop this mess but since you're now on a new scene, you will not be able to read what you missed. ༼ ༎ຶ ෴ ༎ຶ༽ - The log function. I don't understand why the game is not paused when you trigger it (which is the case for most visual novels). Generally speaking, the interface is not really easy to use (and also not very pretty). There should be a scrollbar to move around more easily. - The saves folders are basically white boxes with a VERY small extract of the last dialogue. Aside from the fact that it's not very aesthetically pleasing, it's not user-friendly. In most-visuals novels, saves folders have a screenshot of the moment you saved (plus sometimes, an indication on which route you are) which really helps. There are also only ten saves. - I already mentioned it but the game is quite hard especially when you have no guide and no idea of what you’re doing (the choices don’t always make a lot of sense for the player) When combined with the points I have mentioned above, this just makes the game frustrating to play. - Ron's route. It made me highly uncomfortable. I mean, it's not a spoiler but he's the heroine's teacher (she's 16). To be honest, even if the story was set in college and the heroine was an adult, I would still find it very cringy because Ron is acting like a total creep during his route.
Literally, the second time he sees the heroine, he brings her to a café and MAKES A MOVE ON HER, touches her hair and tells her that he loves her "flavour" (???!!!). When she tells him that he's going to be in trouble because he took her on a "date", he doesn't even deny that it was one and tells her later that he paid the guidance counsellor to keep quiet (It's supposed to be a funny moment because the heroine didn't expect that from him ... WHAT. THE. HELL.). Honestly, IRL, Ron would (hopefully) be in prison right now.
In the end (and without a guide), I just can’t recommend this game as it is right now. However, if you can get past all those problems then go for it, you’ll enjoy this visual novel.
