  Okay... I really, really don't know what to say about this. I will be very brief because of that. - There are good ideas. Not original ideas as everything has been seen elsewhere, but good ideas nonetheless. - It is less of a building game than it is an economic game. You must balance + and - on your budget with buildings limited in parcels. Don't imagine you will create streets and shape the city the way you want. It is rigid and strict, but that's quite historical so why not. - It is quite a beauty. You can loose yourself in those streets. The only downside are the npc that are walking in strage paces and shaped strangely. Use of motion capture or motion capture database would have been welcome here. - As far as I know, it is stable. Yet occasionally some freezes occurs. Mostly while saving, since the save function seems like unfinished. - The interface is good until it isn't : you click on "build" icon and you build a building, then you click on an other type of building but the click you've done that was supposed to be on an icon was also on the map, making you build the last type of building. So : it isn't finished and has been sold as finished. I have a problem with that. Interface problem, coding problems and some structural problems makes it a bit difficult to play with. I played less than 5 hours with it, but I don't know if I will play this game again or not. Most gameplay on youtube didn't manage to go a lot further, so it seems that it's mostly the live length of this game. Do what you want with it. I like it because it makes me explore an other culture's architecture and urbanism, but it's not for everyone and you need to be patient.

  Nice game! The game vividly and accurately, without compromising the fun during game play, reconstruct the great ancient capital of Tang Dynasty, one of the most prosperous, powerful, and open one in the Chinese history. Personally, I enjoy the unique Fang system, which gives players flexibility to construct each Fang in a distinctive and challenging way. The benefits in authority, gold income, labor, and culture which are generated by poets and paintings are novel and of great fun. Moreover, the completion of each tasks yields different achievements, which makes the city more realistic and true to history. A fun and great game for players who are interested in ancient cities building.

  Decent gameplay, neat concept, but it needs a ton of work. Don't expect Cities Skylines in medieval China, think more like the Caesar/Acropolis games. Get on sale, unless a lot more features are eventually added.

  This game sells its theme. I know alittle about the Tang dynasty but nothing really about this city, this game has made we want to learn. The Fang/square system makes it unique and the way the economy works is great. It makes the game more along the lines of a puzzle game than a traditional city builder, where you have to work out the layout of each square to unlock the buildings you need to progress. (Each buildings requirements are specific per fang so each 'suburb' you're starting over, with more buildings to use the more fangs you've completed.). There's also traditional city builder placement concerns like water sources to cover the houses and business and etc. It's a very simple game to play but at the same time, requires lots of planning, thinking and puzzling to work out what to put where. There are also nice touches like a static palace district with palaces you can construct, famous paintings and poets you unlock as you play which you can select to gain bonuses and etc. In all it's a very unique game that commits to it's setting and shapes everything around it. I'd say it's well worth playing for anyone keen on puzzles, city builders or chinese history and architecture.

  I like the graphics of the game, but the tutorial is very basic. And there doesn't seem to be a way to get your income above 50 gold a month. That means it takes centuries to get anywhere with this game All the main buildings cost 5000 each. Do the math and you see it is a slow process. And there's no real sandbox game. It's just played in a sandbox. Also, using the wasd to get around is tedious! Maybe it will be a good city builder...someday.

  Not able to play very well because it requires a middle mouse button with no way to remap it. I wish developers would consider accessibility when they designed their games, just a simple remapping option is all it needs.

  Chang'an: The capital of the Tang Dynasty so the run of city building simulations begins this year.... one of the first here is Chang'an. It is a small but nice simulation. It takes us to the Tang Dynasty in the 8th century AD. When we start the game we have two options - Story mode, with several tasks to complete in order to unlock more building options. - Sandbox, as you can imagine, here you can build your city as you like. The graphics ingame is very good and also very detailed, i love it <3 The building options are also taken from the time, maybe not many, but exactly enough for an city in time sufficient. What impressed me very much, is this extreme attention to detail on the buildings. It is simply beautiful to look at when you move the camera through the city in street view. The soundtrack is also very nice and with pieces suitable for this time, I like it, some others might turn it off after a while. The area of the city is huge and so are the plots, which are divided into districts. Thus, according to the time, you can build very beautiful and also productive districts. The tasks are easy in the beginning, but later with larger construction projects you can run out of resources. The only thing that currently prevents me from continuing, is the great hunger for resources of the game, which led me to very heavy FPS drops. But I think that will be fixed soon by the developers. If you like the time, can feel something, with China and the buildings corresponding to the time, I can recommend it to you. Oh yes, Chang'an is currently only available in English and Chinese ;)

  fun to play
