Alright, alright...... Alright! cannot believe how many hours were put into this game after just picking it up! INSANE.  Dungeon Dreams 2, gives everything that is missing in these RPG Games: a reactive story, custom character, and detailed content/Mechanics. Main Highlights +++++ The custom characters/custom builds: rated so high because games of this type usually have their set hero who you can only name *yawn* but DG2 offers you an array of physical and class options. the branch options can also be used interchangeably or in some cases simultaneously. such a good feature. +++++ the story: the main story is not extremely robust but the stories around the main log are the bread and butter. and the writing is so charming and well done. The game's mechanics are heavily tied into romance building so you get some of the best butterfly moments. ++++ the everchanging dungeons:  such a cool concept that will keep you on edge until really getting deep in the Flux. 60 floors deep.... (i liked the way it sounded in my head ) +++++ Replay Value: Now this review is coming fresh after an Initial play through, can't wait to play it again! Cons ----- No cons at the moment, only because DG2 is early access and the game seems to be in a great place. Devi Score 8/10 DDREAM GAMES delivered in each facet whether you want a life-sim/citybuilder, RPG,or a dungeon crawler. DG2 will hold a special place because it feels like a game that always offers a treat after such a grind, and you can't wait to do it all over again!

This is an amazing game. It takes everything that I enjoyed about the first one and improves upon it. The new characters are just as immersive as the ones in the previous games and just as fun to play with and learn about. The choices in the previous game can reflect things in this one, and several characters from it make a return. They are just as entertaining this time as they were originally, completely refreshed but still give off that nostalgic feeling when you meet them. The previous game is not required to play, and several of the characters I wouldn't have known were ever in a previous game had it not been for a prompt about choices in Faylinn's Quest. Despite not having played it, these characters didn't feel any less for that. The world itself is very interactive, and despite its small size, does not feel limited or crowded. New locations get unlocked or built by the player or the enemy as you progress the story. All of the choices the player can make regarding the character's gender, class and parents as well as the resulting interactions make each one feel unique. There are also many events that change based on what choices the players made. There are many mysteries that you can uncover, and it will take more than one play through to uncover them all. I am hoping that this game gets expanded with DLC, because there are still more stories that this setting can tell. This is one of only 3 games on my favorites list for quick access, and it has most certainly earned that place. It is one of the most immersive dungeon crawlers I have ever played and all of the characters are wonderfully fun to meet and play with (or get on the nerves of).

TLDR: Great game that addresses the weaknesses of previous titles. And no, you do not need to have played previous games in the series to jump in with no issues. What is DD2? JRPG life sim revolving around your protag diving progressively deeper into an rng dungeon then going back to town and interacting with villagers, with the player getting as little or as heavily involved as they wish, which is where the life sim and roleplaying elements come in. With that brief synopsis out of the way, I already really liked DD1 and what it was trying to do as an azure dreams like (if that game doesn't ring a bell due to being a relatively obscure ps1 game then best frame of reference i can give is the Rune Factory series but those games have a big emphasis on crafting and farming as its peculiarity) but DD2 does a super job on ironing out DD1's pacing issues and general weaknesses that might have put some people off. Floors can be cleared fast and efficiently, and it's perfectly possible to do some floors in just a few seconds if rng places stairs close to you and that you see monsters physically roaming around so can avoid them rather then fights happening randomly every few steps like in some jrpgs, so the pacing feels fast and you don't feel like you are stuck in mud doing the same things over and over again, there is a constant feeling of progress as you descend the dungeon. To further help alleviate unnecessary grind, party members you are not using also level with you so you are not punished for changing up your party and trying new compositions. Finally there are more skills and classes in general which helps with the feeling of constantly progressing and getting stronger each run. You also ain't punished for going too high too fast in the sense that whilst a lot of events are unlocked by your progress, there are no big surprise events that could force on you fights you ain't prepared for like was sometimes the case in dd1, you unlock events and do those at your pace with the game clearly warning you beforehand when you can expect tough fights if you'd rather leave this for later. Taken together this all helps deal with what was dd1's biggest issues and dd2 is now a well rounded package where dungeon diving is much more fun whilst retaining the life sim elements in town that was dd1's biggest strength. Otherwise there are a bunch of QoL improvements and the combat system moved to ATB which is a vast improvement along with implementation of a grandia like break system (i.e: certain moves lets you cancel the enemy's turn if you land them whilst they are charging it up), so combat feels more impactful and fun for my tastes, a feeling helped by the greater enemy variety. Overall highly recommend this game, and can say if you gave dd1 a try but were put off by how slow and repetitive the grinding could feel like at times, then dd2 is much improved on that aspect and you should give it another go. For those new to the series, there isn't any other title there like what DD1-2 tries to do, and trust me, I've looked: those that come closest like the aforementioned rune factory games lean heavily towards farming and material gathering/crafting and are far more linear when it comes to the life sim elements, dd1 by contrast always did the life sim element the best and dd2 has retained that strength whilst ironing out the issues of the 1st game.

I usually don't give RPG Maker games a chance, but I'm glad I was convinced to do otherwise with Dungeon Dreams 2. Don't be fooled by appearances, this game has a ton of charm. The writing and characters are actually quite fun, and I'm already contemplating multiple playthroughs.

Game offers the player many roleplaying opportunities. It has different routes so lot of replay value. The amount of interesting content to experience far exceeds games like starfield lol. A must play for rpg fans.
