Frankenstein was very good, great animation, and an excellent boxing match between the parties. The UI got in the way during the hidden object scenes which was annoying so there was a lot of locking and unlocking of the UI through the game. I wish the rat had more screen time.

Frankenstein: Master of Death is the newest title from JetDogs to make it to Steam and is a nice addition to the hidden object catalog here. An alternate take on the Frankenstein story, the premise is interesting albeit a bit hokey at the same time. Granted, HOGs are not known for their great storylines as they're often just a base to build a game upon, but that's usually enough for me. The time period offers us an amazing setting for gorgeously drawn backgrounds and artwork, my favorite aspect of these games. Keys, keys and more keys. A good portion of the game involves finding different keys for lock boxes, doors, and just about everything else. Some open puzzles while others give access to new rooms and areas of the map. While it gets rather tiresome opening door after box after door, once I realized that's basically the shtick of the gameplay I was able to sit back and enjoy it for what it is. Fortunately, there are plenty of puzzles to play through, but nothing too difficult or mind bending. The hidden object scenes are interesting in that many include mini-puzzles within them as well, a neat addition that you don't see very often. As for the scenes themselves, they're nicely drawn with no deceptively hidden items, just challenging enough to keep your eyes sharp. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=407653953 If I had to describe Frankenstein: Master of Death in one word it would be "pleasant." There are no leaps in logic needed to progress, no puzzles that completely boggle the mind, and nothing about the presentation that I feel was grating or annoying. That said, If you're interested in something a little more challenging, you might want to look elsewhere. But if a casual experience with some light puzzle solving is what you're after, this may be the HOG for you. Although on the pricier side for its length (it only took me 3 hours to 100% the game), full Steam integration adds a bit of value back into the package. If nothing else, it's worth keeping on your radar for a nice sale. Bottom Line - Recommended for casual gaming fans looking for a relaxing and enjoyable experience. I'm sorry to say that I'm not recommending "Frankenstein: Master of Death." Looking at the individual elements of the game as stand-alone things, most of the pieces are OK. But, when looking at the game as a whole, then the thing edges into the Not Recommended arena. On the plus side, the graphics are good. In the middle, the puzzles and HOGs are very easy (even for the genre) and the voice acting is tolerable. For the slightly negatives, the story is very weak (again, even for the genre), the game is short (3.9 hours for me to finish it), a couple of items in the HOGs were mis-identified (cow <> antelope, forceps <> toenail cutters). There also seems to be some kind of problem with some of the Achievements. In my case, the game didn't give me the "Expert" Achievement (which we're supposed to get by playing in Advanced mode on Hard -- which I did). But, the things that hurt the game the most are: - An awful lot of the blocking items throughout the game are variations on keys. Key after key after key after key. Yes, you have to find the crowbar or something. But, a very heavy trend is that those things you need are in a case or behind a door that needs its own special key. - The chronological anachronisms strewn throughout it. The story is a variation of Frankenstein and takes place around the year 1800 (give or take). Yet, here and there in both the scenery and the HOGs are modern objects. The big ones in the scenery are what look like a WWII airplane and a VW Beetle car. There's no reason for this. In addition to those, here are some of the other anachronisms I noted: modern fire extinguisher, 1950's era toy robot, dynamite (not invented by Alfred Nobel until 1863), aluminum step ladder with plastic parts, movies, gramaphone (1887), digital numbers on a neon sign, reel-to-reel tape recorder, 1960's era camera, rubber dishwashing gloves, incandescent light bulb, and a foil tube of glue (complete with a recycling symbol and volume in milliliters). So, I'm sorry to say I'm not recommending the game. Definitely not at the list price of almost $9. But, I'm still not recommending it at the dirt cheap price I got it at (less than $2).

Sorry, but I find this game to be incredibly tedious. I normally enjoy HOGs, but this one just isn't fun but I cannot determine exactly why. Maybe it is because you enter a room, find some locked container or an action that you cannot do yet, then you have to advance to the next room, or go back a room, to find the key to the item in the last room. It is a ridiculous number of steps. Most HOGs use this concept but not to the extreme.

I don't frequently play hidden object point-and-click type games, but i had to pick this one up when it was on sale. And i must say, i was plesently surprised with the entertainment value of this game. I played it through a total of 3 times, and loved it each time. Rate: 8/10

My grandson and I played this game together. He is 4 years old. We had a lot of fun playing this game. We played the expert difficulty it was challanging for both of us. The puzzles are great, the story is good. The artwork is also very nice. This game is worth getting if you like to solve puzzles. Especially if you get it on sale. I got it for .49 US.

A very bad hidden object game. * Frequent random crashes * Glitchy achievements * Puzzles are too easy even in Hard Mode * Uninspired HOPs * Airplanes and cars on a 1800s story * The monster was very underwhelming

Frankenstein Master of disappointment The Bad: -The story is not as good as Dracula's legacy. There is neither drama nor any plot twists. -No manual saves: If achievements do not pop up, you have to restart from the beginning. I had to play the game almost 3 times to get the achievements. -The Achievements are super buggy: They do not always pop up (for example: Tiger one). Additionally, You must delete your entire profile if you want to start a new play through. Otherwise, achievements do not activate. Additionally, if another file is open on your computer, it can interfere with the achievements. This really tells me that developers do not care about their games. If they don't care, why should I support them? The Good: It has Trading cards I recommend you buy Dracula's legacy or Cursed. They are both WAY better than this disappointment.

I bought this game very cheap, because I like hidden object games and thought this might be a good one. However, after finally completing the game 3 or 4 times to get all the achievements, I have to give this a thumbs down. First, the graphics are ok, not much different from a lot of HOG games, but it could have had more atmosphere. As far as a story. it is almost non-existent. For the gameplay, the HOG parts and puzzle parts are all extrememly easy. In fact once I finished on normal mode I played the hard mode and really noticed no difference the puzzle difficulty was exactly the same. Now about the achievements, they are very buggy and although most of mine came through the first play around, I had to delete a game file (once I finally found it) and play through it again. Once I got through the hard level only the complete the hard level achievement popped and I had to play through it again as I guess skipping a cut scene wouldn't let me get the complete all the mini puzzles achievement and another one as well that had nothing to do with the cut scene achievement either. I don't recommend this game as there really isn't much to it at all and it's a PIA to get the achievements. If you really have to have it, get it on sale for under a dollar. Last edit: a bit of a rewrite and clean up of an older review

I am going to request that this game is being removed from my library. I don't even want a refund, I just want to be rid of this BULLSHIT. Neither story, nor the riddles in themselves, nor the general gameplay makes sense in any kind or way - what they did achieve was to plainly bore the hell out of me, ruin every bit of fun that I could have had. And this is a hidden object game. My expectations were low to begin with. To get even lower than that... Only someone who is either high on drugs, or drunk is conciously able to create such BS; and this game makes sure that I will never again buy any game that was created by this studio. It was no difficult task they needed to achieve, but even THAT they manage to f*** up. Even if you enjoy HO games, like I do occasionally, STAY THE FUCK AWAY.
