About the Game

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1230170/Gunsmith_Simulator_Prologue/

There’s nothing like the smell of coffee blended with the metallic aroma of repaired guns in the morning... Become a virtual gunsmith, and it will become a part of your everyday reality.

You’ve already prepared your workshop and equipped it, and learning the profession just came naturally. Now you are left with finding your first customer. Fire up that computer, go to the “GunStock” website and browse through available auctions and ads. Who knows, maybe you will find someone who is in great need of your skills!

The first order is just in! Time to get to work. Order parts or craft them yourself using specialized tools such as a lathe or CNC machine tool. “Inspect” your patient and decide which elements need to be replaced and which you can repair yourself. Gain new skills, learn, and enhance your workshop!

Some say that looks don’t matter… it’s hard to blame them, they’ve probably never seen a perfectly preserved 7.92mm Gewehr assault rifle. Renovation of old shooters is also part of your duties. Get rid of rust from old elements by treating their surfaces by hand or use appropriate chemical treatments. Renew the protective layer of metal surfaces to keep them in good shape. And after a hard day’s work, it’s time for the most pleasant part – painting! Do you think the red accents will match?

Get creative! Upgrade equipment with modern accessories. Check optical sight, pistol grips, grenade launchers and lasers. Throw in a flashlight, rangefinder or collimators and create a unique weapon. The sky is the limit. After all, you are the gunsmith here. It’s up to you to decide on the design of weapons signed with your name.

After hours, it’s time to relax. What better rest is there for a gunsmith than a trip to your favorite shooting range? Put your pieces of art to a test by shooting at mannequins or go to the contaminated zone to shoot zombies!

All done? The further fate of your shooter is up to you. You can give it back to your client or buy it back and feature it in your collection. But hurry up, the next orders are waiting!

The game is exactly what it says. Gunsmith Sim, super cool and pretty immersive - Early access title so I'm sure there will be lots more cool things added in the future but as for now it seems like there is plenty guns to work on and pretty deep customisation. Also has a weapon range to test out gun builds, I think its awesome!

I mean, I don't dislike it or anything, I guess (in it's current state) it's just not what I was really looking for. A little bit slow when doing certain interactions, some finicky controls/camera movements, but what I really think bites me is I just don't find a reason to keep doing the jobs. I'd say the gameplay loop reminds me a lot of PC Builder Simulator, if you know anything about that. You take jobs, repair/modify the guns you get on those jobs, and also have the option to bid on auctions to get your own personal guns to build up a sort of personalized collection. If that's what you're looking for, then buy this. But the essence that I wanted, that of really just taking apart a gun and learning how it works and how to fix it, just wasn't there. That's my personal ideal, however, and if you want something that's more like "I want to take apart a gun down to the screws as fast as I can", go play World of Guns. It's free, and you can unlock most of the guns by playing (or pay if you're lazy).

I played the demo including the Makarov update and was waiting for today's early access release. I haven't played a simulator lately, and my thoughts about them are that they can get boring over time and very monotonous. But with this one, I've to say that I spent almost 5 hours playing today without any pause and I was even surprised at how long I stayed in this game. I really recommend this game if you are looking for a simulator where you can disassemble every piece of a weapon and repair it with a lots of techniques and machinery you own in your workshop. Also, there are 2 areas where you have multiple minigames to test your weapons. The only thing I have to say is that for now there are few weapons and customizable options, but this is an early access and I think it's enough for the players to play lots of hours.

I wish there was a rating for in between a thumbs up and thumbs down for this game. Overall, I like it. The gameplay is repetitive, but relaxing and enjoyable. However, I have 2 main issues with this game. Firstly, in a little over 2 hours of playing, the game crashed 4 times. I understand that these performance issues will likely be ironed out in time. My main complaint is that there are many inaccuracies with the weapon models, disassembly / reassembly process, and part names. These inaccuracies really break immersion and I would have thought that a game about being a gunsmith would pay closer attention to details like that.

It's a good time killer but i wish they did a better job on naming of the gun parts and having the full auto is a fun feature but it is not realistic at all and the pricing of products are not correct and how products are put back on the firearms are not correct and i can already can feel this game is going to get very repetitive i think if the devs can take a deeper dive in the gun world more i think it would be a better game if the devs contact real gunsmiths see how much they are charging for labor and parts how it's done it's fun but there's alot they can approve upon it has the potential to be a good game it just needs the boost

I'm sorry to have to be harsh but the camera controls ruins this game for me, its all over the palce and for some reason it always zoom's ridiculously close to object all the time, combined with all the spelling errors in the very few texts this game uses and the CNC takes almost 1 min. pr. part to create and then you have to oxydide the parts, its just not worth the "savings" its much easier to order the parts online, there arent many guns either so i was just overall disappointed in this one, things its not a broken game and you certainly CAN play it, but the camera zoom and placement ruins this for me, its unplayable for me and ive really tried struggleing with this camera for 4 hours and tinkering with the settings to try and improve it. I just cant recommend this one as it is right now, more guns, and fix the camera, then maybe it will be a better experience, also please fix the all the typo's its just lazy not to go these things over before release.

This game is not that fun for £15. It's a very basic, left click simulator, you don't have anything to do other than left click, and it magically does everything for you. It's extremely repetitive, you do the same things in the same order every single time, left click to disassemble, left click to clean, left click to reassemble, and you're done. Now do that, over and over, for all eternity. You don't get told any information on the weapons, where things go, what things do. and doesn't help you in any way to understand what you're actually doing. When testing a gun it just says, turn this thing to this setting and this other thing to another setting, but, HOW? There's no instructions or guide to help you. Gun range is a waste of time very boring, your character doesn't even arms, you hold the guns telepathically I guess. All in all, not worth your time or money, extremely boring and repetitive, I have refunded. I might pick it up again after updates and more content. PS. As confirmed by a dev on the discussions page, there are no regenerative missions in this game, meaning once you complete the "jobs" via the in-game PC, that's it, you get no more, once you're done that's it. I think that's very poor for a simulator game, the whole point of them is endless replayability, like PC Building Sim and Car Mechanic Sim.

In it's current state I'd only give this a neutral review... The premise is fun for a short while, but once you get a few hours in, you feel like you've pretty much seen all the game has to offer at this rate. Not much in terms of customization, additional parts and paints, and a very limited selection of guns. Also the performance in the game goes from good to downright bad, with it struggling to load even at the initial loading screens, some freezes periodically and a major dip in frame rate when you get to the CQB area. I get it's in early access, but I think it could have done with a few updates before release. As of now it's a wishlist until they add more content kind of game.

This game needs a lot of work. I understand that it is early access but as the game sits right now its the single most repeditive thing I have ever seen. I was really hoping for something similar to Car Mechanic Simulator where you are given a problem and have to diagnose a solution, as well as assemble and modify the gun as needed to get to those parts. The problem comes in where everything is exactly the same process. For example: You get a job. Regardless of the job you must take the gun 100% apart. I don't know any gunsmith in their right mind who would take the spring out of the trigger to fix a problem on the scope. But in this game its exactly what you do. You take literally the entire thing down each time. This process is clunky because the gun is constantly being picked up and put down. I wish it had more like Car Mechanic Simulator where there are ghost part outlines so you can actually see how it goes together, and a more stable platform to work on, but no, its just "follow which part is green". Terrible experience even when I enjoyed CMS so much. The camera view is all over the place making it hard to actually see how anything is supposed to go together. The next step will always follow the exact same format. Clean parts by holding the side arrow on your keyboard, and moving the mouse on a part. Incredibly repetitive. The next step will also always follow the same format. Go to the highlighted workbench and click a few items in order. The next step will also always follow the same format. Buy parts on the computer. The next step will also always follow the exact same format. Reassemble the gun. (Its the disassembly in reverse) Thats the problem with the game, if you play for a single gun you have basically seen the whole game. Sure you unlock incredibly repetitive workbenches based on the gun, but the process of bluing parts is the same process as cncing parts. Click these 5 items in the same order every time and then you are done. There is no variation between anything. It is always the exact same. Disassemble the whole thing, clean, workbench, reassemble the whole thing. Also there are like 7 guns. I didnt count. Its a crazy small number. Because the whole game is just doing the same process over step by step, its really obvious that there is a serious lack of guns. Ok so thats whats wrong about it to gamers, but I feel the need to also say that gun guys are not gonna like this game because the process of disassembly is incredibly inacurate. No one is ever going to take the buffer apart. No one is ever going to take the barrel off instead of the upper. They clearly didnt have a single gun guy on the team making the game because the disassembly is ridiculous. For the M4 they have you take parts apart in ways that make no sense. For the Mossberg shotgun like 90% of the gun is still assembled when you are done. There is no logic to how disassembled they need to be. Whatever they consider to be "All the parts" is what you will have to do every single time.
