It's not bad, albeit quite basic. There's nothing too scary but they do set up something of an atmosphere and there's just enough decent puzzling that provides just enough friction to keep you engaged. Certainly not worth full price but it's regularly over half off and it nearly justifies that price given there's a good 2 hours or so of playtime here, but it's unfortunately just not enough. One of the big problems here is the monster is just not scary. They go out of your way to show you the monster up close right at the start and any sort of mystery or menance is completely removed in one fell swoop. And then when you actually do encounter the monster later on it becomes readily apparent that the level designer did not count on having a monster in play. There's a sense here that they designed a creepy atmospheric puzzler and somewhere along the line, likely towards the end, somebody said "this needs a monster". So they put in a very basic AI, hit detection, and scatter boxes to hide in all over the very narrow corridors you're expected to proceed through. But it doesn't work. The player will very quickly realise the only way to progress is to run right by the monster, absorb a swipe or two, and just keep going. They're very generous with survivability here, as there is no health meter that I could see, and the red jam that encroaches on your screen quickly fades, and I never once died or felt in peril. And though I didn't have a terrible time here, it just doesn't do enough to justify itself existing as a paid product. There are far better horrors out there, and far better puzzlers. Go play those. I struggle to recommend to even the most die-hard of horror fans who must play everything with even a smidge of horror in them. As that's me, and I didn't feel like this was quite worth the time or money.

This game definitely deserves some attention. I've played a ridiculous amount of horror games. Especially indie horror. It's a mess of disappointment out there. However, you find some gems out there too like this one. Pros: -This game could teach a class on how to use subtle cues to invoke paranoia and unease. It uses small details moving around objects and placing objects right in place that's in the corner of your eye to make you think for a split second that might be a threat. It doesn't rely on jumpscares at all and thankfully does not include any of my least favorite shrilly loud noise scares. Those are just annoying. -The sound design is A+ Not only are you able to discern directionally where sounds are coming from, but you can also hear distinct noises around that seem to indicate there's someone around. Meanwhile you're not sure if the game is messing with you or if there's an enemy patrolling around. Cons: -The design of the enemy is just kinda meh. Your imagination should fill in the blank enough if you're immersed. -Sometimes the game doesn't seem to guide you where you need to go next. -The story was semi interesting and then suddenly it just kinda ends. This is a game for someone who just really appreciates good atmospheric horror without the asinine jump scares. It does some things really well, but overall it's just an enjoyable experience. This game definitely deserves some recognition for it's well thought out horror elements though!

Pretty decent walking sim/adventure game. We played two full hours and then the Big Bad started chasing us in ways that prevented us from making it to the safe places in time. So we died. And did that again. And again. Heck with it. We're done with this game. Adding a late-in-the-game run-or-die "mechanic" is a dumb, dumb idea in a puzzle game. It changes it from being a mystery to a parkour. Sorry, can't play those. Damned shame from the guys who did such a great job with "The Rodinia Project."

What are the people that complain about the run and hide gameplay being sprung on you out of nowhere smoking, the game hints at it almost right away. Anyways, Infectis is an Amnesia style, combat-free survival horror game, no more, no less. It does some things quite well but in other places the low budget of the game really shows through. Some stuff I feel would improve the game quite a bit is to make some interactable items in dark areas easier to spot. And the ending really should have some music. Ambience works fine for the exploration and stealth stuff, but a climax really could use something a bit more exciting.

Found this game by searching through Aegon Games tag on Steam, enjoyed both their other horror/puzzle games "Door in the Basement" and "Astray" so decided to give this one a chance. The atmosphere isn't as strong overall in Infectis but it's certainly present, just feel like more ambience sounds or music might help, it's at times way too quiet. Visually especially for a Unity based game it's solid for sure and runs perfectly, some nice lighting/shadow spoops we're a nice subtle effect. The story isn't anything groundbreaking but it fits the overall narrative and even though I've heard it many times I still enjoy this sort of thing. Gameplay wise it's mostly puzzles with some light running/hiding sections. The puzzles are right at the level which I can have fun and not get frustrated, but not too easy that it's not satisfying, great job in that regard. Level design I think is the best of the three games not overly complex and fun to explore. It's a little bit slow paced and basic mechanically at times, but the passion is clearly there and it gave me at least one good scare honestly. It's a tad short on content but especially on sale it's well worth it imo, entertaining puzzle/horror that I had fun with, but not my favorite title from this developer. 7.8/10
