Very fun little mind game playing with perspective and the actual window in which the game is played in. LOTS of speedrun potential. Only complaints are the healing mechanic is annoyingly slow and the final level is..... unfairly punishing.

One of those screen warping puzzle games, you should be able to finish it in about 2 hours. It's not a bad game, but there are some technical issues that should be mentioned. As far as I can tell, there is no controller support, even though some of the buttons might work by accident (the Unity controls don't do anything for me). When you start the game, it will tell you to hold (L) - which the actual L on the keyboard (use it for slow walk and to push blocks). After you do that, it will tell you to press (J) - that is the sword attack. Now you might be wondering if it has some combat, but the sword is mostly used for interacting with some of the puzzles, and the last boss fight. I also run into 2 glitches that forced me to reset the checkpoints, I suspect that the starting area is where most of the problems can happen. The game has 5 puzzle sections, each introducing a new puzzle element to the gameplay. I have played many similar games, so I did not enjoy the first half as much. Later in the game, the puzzles will incorporate more interesting mechanics such as moving platforms and elevation puzzles. I know this genre is not for everyone so I am not sure how fun it is, I personally enjoyed the logic here (mostly). I actually really like what they did with the boss fight - if only the game had more than one encounter like that. Utilizing the screen warping to fight enemies is a neat idea. The soundtrack really helped me to get through this game, I thought the ambient music here was relaxing and atmospheric. I don't mind the visuals for that matter, but I wish it had more visual storytelling instead of just 2 hours of puzzles.
Pros:
+ nice atmosphere / relaxing soundtrack + decent visuals, a pretty cute game + some interesting puzzle elements
Cons:
- occasional glitches - needs controller support - I wanted more visual storytelling Overall Thoughts: 6/10 This genre is obviously not for everyone, and this game could use a bit of polish. I enjoyed most of the puzzles and the logic, but I wanted to see a better balance between puzzles and visual storytelling. This game is 95% puzzles, 5% world building. I prefer a 60-40 ratio if you know what I mean. In my humble opinion, when you make an atmospheric puzzle game, you have to reward the player with some visual storytelling after each puzzle section - that way it's less tedious.
Video (gameplay + commentary):
https://youtu.be/lD0RhYI70YY
Review:
Recommended! There's lot to love about this game:

Satisfying puzzles that I found generally intuitive and fun to solve. They were a little mind-bending but at no point did I feel completely stuck on a puzzle which I consider a positive.
Soothing music and beautiful visuals
Generally really relaxing to play
That said, the game isn't without its downsides:

There is one point (well, two points, but one that you have to win) in the game that requires combat and, at least for me, it was shockingly difficult/unintuitive by comparison to all the very thoughtful puzzles. It felt fairly out of place to me and ultimately I wish I could have skipped it in favor of more zen-like relaxation I got from the puzzles. Spoiler:
For what it's worth, the combat sequence is the final boss battle and there are no puzzles or story elements after that point, so you could also skip the combat part and know you're not missing anything.

Xbox controller support is incomplete. Currently, movement works but buttons are not mapped.
The game is extremely light on story. This didn't really bother me personally but it is worth noting.
Not sure if this is a con, but the game is relatively short. I was able to complete it in a little over an hour and would have been less had I not spent 20+ minutes on the combat part.
Ultimately I found Moon River a very enjoyable experience and I would love to see a sequel with more interesting puzzles. Recommended!

Heyo! Sonoket 3 sentence review go: A short and surprisingly challenging game where walls and floors loop back on each other to create a mind-bendingly fun puzzle game. Very minimal design in the game as well as lack of menus and options detract from the game but not enough to not recommend it. Just a treat to play through at the pricepoint. If you want more than that I have a First 30 video up on the game where you can see the First 30 minutes of gameplay with some more thorough thoughts after it.
