Fun game. If you liked Payday 2, you should try its predecessor too. The maps on Heist are on an epic porportion due to their size and intricacies, especially compared to its successor. It's also a bit more of a traditional shooter than its sequel, sporting huge waves of enemies that deal high damage. And it's still tons of fun, of course.

I never thought I'd hear myself say this but...killing cops and stealing shit is so much fun! never thought I would like a game like this, but I do like to play the occasional fps (such as rainbow 6, or borderlands). Payday is very challenging and yet at the same time so rewarding; when I finally complete a mission I've been struggling with I feel EPIC. It's very addictive, and the only negative thing I have to say is that I wish there was something to spend all your money on in game, like with Payday 2. I also really like that this game has co-op, I play with my husband and we have a blast. I highly reccomend this game. 2 thumbs up. 10/10.

PAYDAY 2 players try not to swarm any guide or post about PAYDAY: THE HEIST without saying "dead game" challenge

Ah, the good old days... When entering a bank wearing a mask and rubber gloves was still a bad thing.

It's a good game, but you should only buy it if you're a collector or hardcore fan of the franchise. This is because all of the heists in this game has been remade in the sequel.

I like to say that this game has a mixed review but take it from me as recommended, why? Because this game is a literal TORTURE. I could say that in a good way or even in a bad way. While you can't see people 100 meters away in this game, the ENEMIES has an EAGLE EYE able to SNIPE YOU far away from NEVADA with an assault rifle. PLEASE GAME I JUST WANTED TO SEE WHERE THE F@!K THEY ARE. DON'T GIVE THEM AN ABILITY TO SEE FROM SPACE. another problem from the game is that there are no enemy hitmarkers, y'know when enemy shot you, an arrow will appear locating where's the source of the damage. The only thing that shows these damages done to you is by "flare" effects on the edges of your screen along side with some annoying effects that I cannot describe... The problem is that enemies just keep COMING, they just won't stop coming unless if the assault is ended, and the assault runs on a timer. But STILL it's just too chaotic to track them down. Besides all that it's still a decent game, just call it COD Zombies but cops, heist and... guns. It's sad that Payday the heist is less played than Payday 2. probably because the game was too hard on a difficulty/technical level or less content, there are only around like 9 missions? and no fun replay, the only fun mission I had was DIamond heist and No Mercy. Others okay but they are pretty dry. in Conclusion, broken AI, too chaotic, not much bopping music, weird gunplay, interesting interaction by the gang, cool progress system in each level. Some aren't explained because it's going to be long. and boring.

I've heard many people say that Payday: The Heist is not worth playing anymore because Payday 2 has all of its features and more. And while Payday 2 does have all the characters, weapons and heists that Payday: The Heist does I think the first game is still not only worth playing but also better than the sequel and here's why: Gameplay: Both Paydays are pretty similar gameplay-wise: you shoot some cops, do the objectives, try not to die and work as a team. One thing I've noticed however is that in Payday 2 everything simply seems to take longer, and only for the sake of padding time. One thing for example that every Payday 2 player acknowledges and makes fun of is the bag carrying mechanic. Basically most of the time you get loot you then have to carry it in a bag to a certain destination, whether that is the escape van or a drop-off point. Some bags are pretty heavy so they make you very slow, others prohibit you from running while still allowing you to walk at normal speed and others don't affect your speed at all. This is a fine mechanic on its own and adds an extra objective of carrying the loot to its destination, but many heists overdo it a lot by having you carry about 50 bags to the other side of the map, forcing you to run back and forth a lot. Another thing is the drill: of course Payday: The Heist already did it but in Payday 2 it feels like it's needed everywhere and multiple times at that. Generally most of the tedious things people like to make fun of in Payday 2 simply didn't exist yet, making each heist in Payday: The Heist shorter in general by a few minutes but also more fun and enjoyable. The major difference is the difficulty. Of course many have already pointed out that Payday 2 is a lot easier than the original, to the point where you can easily walk around and shoot at cops while completely ignoring cover even on higher difficulties, which you can't do in Payday: The Heist since you'll die quite easily that way, even on easy. Payday 2 can be challenging as well however when you choose the highest difficulties. What makes Payday: The Heist better in this regard is how it scales its difficulty. There are many things in Payday you have to do right not to fail: you have to make sure you don't run out of health or ammo, make sure that if you die you do so in cover so your teammates can revive you without getting shot themselves, do the objectives and of course make sure to kill cops effectively enough so you don't get overrun. It's a very tactical game since there's a lot more to it than just shooting the bad guys (or in this case good guys). In Payday 2 however there's a skill or perk to overcome all of those. There are many ways to regenerate health in Payday 2 so it no longer becomes a problem, it's a lot easier to preserve ammo with the right weapons and skills and there's even a skill for reviving a teammate within a second so going down is also no longer a problem. Every problem is a lot easier to deal with in the sequel and so the way Payday 2 makes itself harder is by making the enemies stronger, by giving them more health, having them do more damage, sending a small nation's population worth of cops at you or by spawning literal bullet sponges, like turrets. In fact, the only reason the highest difficulty is so hard is because even if you're wearing the toughest armor the game can provide the average cop can kill you with 2 shots. In Payday: The Heist the difficulty mostly comes from the heist itself, in some maps you have a lot of open areas so you can get surrounded easily, on some heists it's easier to run out of ammo than others and again on others you need to work together efficiently to get through. Unlike Payday 2 the game never feels unfair even on the highest difficulty because there's always a correct way to deal with a situation, you just have to find the right strategy. Weapons: In Payday: The Heist there are only about a dozen weapons while Payday 2 has hundreds, of course this sounds pretty good at first but it ultimately turned out to be a downside. In Payday 2 even though there are so many weapons you'll only ever use a handful of them for various reasons. Many of the weapons are simply useless because others are better in every way, some are just reskins of others and many just seem identical except for a tiny difference. The guns you start out with are really terrible so you have to experiment, but you do so less because it's fun and more so because of necessity. And once you've found something you like you're most likely going to ignore the rest. In Payday: The Heist however each gun feels like it has its place, every one of them is unique in their own way and none of them are bad, even the weapons you start out with. It's a lot easier to experiment since there aren't as many and it's a lot more fun to try all of them out since they're all good and fun to play with. In the end which gun you choose is simply dependent on your personal taste and your strategy, which of course changes with each heist, giving even more incentive to use them all at some point. What's also worth a mention is that in Payday: The Heist it simply feels like the guns do more damage, you can feel the damage behind them, making them even more satisfying to use. Characters: Payday 2 has a ton of characters to choose from while Payday: The Heist only has the original 4. Of course that's not bad in itself but switching to the original after years of playing the sequel I've really started to appreciate it. Because of the limited amount of characters in Payday: The Heist they end up having a lot more interaction. They react to enemies, comment on certain events or the heist itself and even talk to each other. In Payday 2 however barely any of that is present, the characters will react to enemies and certain events but rarely talk to each other or about the heist, and what's there is a lot more limited. They feel a lot more empty as a result. General atmosphere: Payday: The Heist is a very serious game with a gritty atmosphere that is excellently displayed by the music, characters and heists themselves. The characters are throwing themselves in the fire for a slim chance of profit and you can hear that in the way they talk and react. In Payday 2 however that gritty and serious atmosphere is barely present. The game itself can't decide what it wants to be either since it tries to display serious moments like in the original while at the same time having heists like the Goat Simulator heist or adding youtubers as playable characters, or even just characters who comment on it like it's some sort of arcade game. The music has also become more "techy" and "dubsteppy" which really doesn't fit a serious atmosphere. Even when the game tries to be gritty it's hard to take it seriously however because you'll be beating up cops using a gigantic golden spoon while wearing an anime mask and being shot from all sides without a care in the world. In general instead of it feeling like you're putting your life at risk it feels like you're an action hero with plot armor who just really enjoys shooting cops. Conclusion: Payday 2 has a lot more than Payday: The Heist but it feels like as a result most of it lacks in quality, a textbook example of quantity vs quality. Payday: The Heist has less to offer but it all feels more enjoyable and fleshed out. The original is more serious while the sequel feels easier and a lot goofier, and while the original doesn't have as much content it's still very replayable and you can easily sink hours into it. Both games are really great in my opinion and easily my favorite shooters overall, but there are so many things that the original simply did so much better than the sequel which many don't seem to acknowledge at all. That's why even if you've already played Payday 2 for years like I have or you're completely new to the series, Payday: The Heist is still worth your time and money.
