In my opinion, the reviews for this pack are somewhat overly critical. I don't believe it's as terrible as people make it out to be. I genuinely appreciate the variety of animals included in this pack, and the quantity seems reasonable as well. One aspect I particularly enjoy about this pack is the inclusion of foliage pieces. However, I do wish they had incorporated more "unique" ones. Nonetheless, I'm glad that the pack does offer new foliage options. Determining the value of the DLC price is subjective and really depends on the individual. Personally, I have gotten used to expensive DLCs, and I think $10 is expected for a DLC like this. Nevertheless, I would recommend purchasing these packs during sale only, as they often go on a 50% discount early on.

The reason this pack performed poorly has since been rectified. Fans were upset that it really only represented one biome and didn't include animals like the sloth, armadillo, maned wolf, and crocodiles. These animals have since been added into other packs. The South American themed pieces work really well and still hold up well after all the DLC that came out since. The animals are amazing, with the capuchin being my personal favorite. If you are new to the game or haven't been keeping updated with Planet Zoo developments, the jaguars in this pack can dive underwater and the llamas are no longer just white, so the older trailer doesn't represent the modern look of these animals in-game. I believe this DLC is worth it at full price, but getting it on sale is always nice too.

Some of the new animals and content are quite nice, but 4 animals and an exhibit to represent the most biodiverse place on earth is quite frankly bad.

A mere six habitat animals for a continent as unique as South America isn't satisfactory. Worse-yet, the 2 scenarios were ditch for 50 pieces and a frog, not exactly a fair trade. Frontier, please consider adding more habitat animals and adding less building pieces.

Way overpriced, and the content is pathetic for an ANIMAL-BASED GAME. Especially as a DLC for THE most biodiverse place on the planet. Four animals, one functional statue they call an animal, and two admittedly good building sets but nothing that really ADDS to the gameplay. You're perfectly fine not getting it. I bought it anyway because I'm a huge whore but never mind me.

I will preface this by saying I am a builder first and foremost. I bought this pack for the build items, as for me the animals are secondary. While a agree that four animals isn't enough, you've probably heard that enough by now. I'll instead talk about the build items. PROS: + Two very versatile build sets. I have wanted a bamboo set since the game came out. While I was thinking of using it in Asian themed builds, it works wonders for a tropical setting too. The addition of a third -recolourable- stone set is a must have in my opinion. Especially since there is only two other stone build sets in the game without this DLC. The stone ruins are also unique, and allow one to make interesting disheveled buildings and habitat pieces. +The decals are beautiful. From glowing butterfly lights to gorgeous and colourful wall accessories, this set is both unique and well made. The bench and bins are also particularly detailed and pretty, if a bit tropical-specific. + I love love love the new trees and foliage, as well as the fallen tree and root decors. You can make buildings look detailed and overgrown much easier than before. There was a huge lack of tropical flowers in planet zoo before and this pack solves that problem with a whole host of large colourful garden accessories. MEH - While I enjoy the palm thatched roof set, its very similar to the African thatched roof. If you don't have this DLC, the base game thatching will work fine in any build requiring such roofing. CON - Only two statues and no new fountains. The pack is distinctly lacking here. -Most of the species enrichment items are re-skins. I would have liked to have seen more enrichment items for the new animals. -Only four animals and a glorified box with a frog in it. FINAL THOUGHTS AND IDEAS Overall, as a builder, this pack is a big plus. You could use all of the new building sets in many different biomes and for many different scenarios. The arctic pack feels limiting to me, because I rarely use its items outside distinctly 'Nordic' themed buildings. The tropical foliage always felt lacking to me, but this pack makes creating a realistic tropical zoo much easier. The only thing that's lacking is that center pieces (statues, fountains) and the themed props. For ten bucks, I feel it's worth the price. As a small side-note, I would suggest creating 'build' packs and 'animal' packs. The build packs add new themes and build items to the game and the 'animal' packs are focused on adding new animals and habitat items. People play the game for different reasons and therefore should be able to buy packs that suit their wants specifically.

Need a Marine Mania expansion with dolphins and shit, not really this this sorta stuff with just a few animals. Willing to pay much more for a real DLC with at least 20-30 or so animals. Still no penguins or seals.

This new DLC is absolutely NOT WORTH 10 dollars. Simple math: Arctic DLC: - 2 New Scenarios - 4 new species - 200+ pieces This DLC - 5 new species - 250+ pieces It means 2 Scenarios = 1 species + 50 pieces I bought this game for animals, not buildings.

I bought this DLC because it sounds like it should be an improvement over the Arctic pack, and it is, in some ways. However: 1. This pack is still just as overpriced as the Arctic pack, if not moreso because it has no scenarios, and, as I'll explain below, doesn't actually have 250 new pieces. This pack charges you over twice what the basegame does per animal, and that's not taking into account all the things the basegame gives that this DLC doesn't. 2. None of the new foliage is climbable. This sucks because we have all these new trees and roots that should be climable, and take up a lot of space, but the animals can't use them for climbing. To further add insult to injury, two of the animals in the pack need climbing space, so it's like, why even bother using the new foliage when the animals can't even make use of it? It'd be one thing if it was just flowers and shrubs, but six of the new plants in the pack are trees, and then there's a bunch of additional strangler fig roots as well as a few of the trees themselves in the update, and none of them can be used for climbing. Everything climable in this pack is a very basic pole or wood piece that took no effort to make climbable. It feels lazy giving us so many new trees, and animals that need climbing area, and then not letting them use the foliage designed for their pack. 3. The "250 new objects" is only true on a technicality. They fail to mention in that 250 new objects, that most of those are just recolorable versions of other objects in the pack, or, with the case for many of the temple pieces, are golden variants. I didn't go through to count how many actually new pieces there are, but I'd wager it's less than 100, since all of the bamboo pieces have two variants, and many of the temple pieces have three variants. This is practically false advertising. That said, all the actually new pieces are very nice, and I do think I'll be using them. The new thatch pieces and the bamboo poles in particular are going to be useful. 4. The animal's stats and behaviors are just outright wrong and weird. The guests are able to enter the giant anteater exhibit in spite of them being known to be dangerous and having killed people, even in zoos. Anteaters are notorious for being dangerous, and have killed many people, even in captivity, so I'd argue this is even dangerous, as someone may get the wrong idea that it's safe to walk up to an anteater and get seriously hurt. On the opposite end of this, the llamas cannot be used for walkthroughs, even though what other purpose does a domestic llama have in a zoo than for being a petting zoo animal? I'd take my chances with a llama over an anteater any day. Then there's the jaguar, which for some reason needs climbing space, even though lions and tigers don't, and yet despite being the most aquatic of the big cats, they don't need water area. It just seems like stats were thrown at a wall and they decided what stuck, and none of it makes any sense. tl;dr, the dlc is overpriced, the foliage feels rushed, there isn't actually 250 new pieces, someone is gonna get mauled by an anteater if they follow Frontier's advice. Please, stay away from anteaters. They are dangerous animals.

The most bio-diverse place on land and we get such a pathetic amount of animals. I love this game, don't get me wrong, but there is so many animals lacking that I would expect to see. For 10 dollars I would've expected at least 8 animals or more. Two of the animals, the jaguar and red eyed tree frog, should've been in the game already. How do you have jaguar signs but not any jaguars? And how do you have something like 2 kinds of dart frogs but not red eyes? Capybaras, sloths, howler monkeys, maned wolves, coatis, tamarins, and dozens of gorgeous bird species could've and should've been included in this DLC. But nope, alpacas and a monkey and anteaters along with two animals that should've been in the game already. : /
