About the Game

Startup Company is a business simulation sandbox game. You’re the CEO of a small startup and are eager to grow your company. With a small investment, you set out to build an amazing website to compete against the largest tech giants in the world and dream of becoming the most valuable company in history.

Your company’s success depends on your ability to run and manage a website. You’ll have to continously develop and improve features, while increasing hosting capacity and effectively run marketing campaigns.

The city offers you offices in all sizes and shapes. It’s up to you to select the most suitable. It’s your job to organize and decorate the office while keeping your employees happy.

Your employees are a vital part of your success. As you grow, you’ll have to continue recruiting more people. Over time, your employees will start demanding more of you and the company. It’s your job to keep them happy, before your competitors sends them a job offer they can’t reject!

There’s no website without stable and reliable servers. As your website attracts more traffic, you have to move from virtual servers to your own fully featured hosting center.

The goal is obvious: becoming the biggest website in the industry. It’s up to you if you want to buy and merge your competitors or simply outrun them till they go out of business!

We believe a strong community only improves the game experience. This is why Startup Company is fully moddable through the Steam Workshop.

SERIOUSLY????? After obsessing over this game for about two straight days my CEO retired...and that's the end of the game?????!!!! I was seriously just getting to a really good point to where I could do just about anything I wanted and now it's ALL GONE! You can replace employees when they retire but not the CEO? I cant understand why anybody would want to play a game that destroys all progress after such a short amount of time. Great game if you like starting from scratch every other day!!!!

I've made my business go bankrupt with my incompetent management skills! I rate this game 10/10 because it's not another easy game to finish within a few hours.

THIS A IDLER/INCREMENTAL GAME, NOT A SIMULATION OR TYCOON GAME And yes, it does have some elements of simulation or tycoon, but the game just consist on hiring employees so they generate different points that you can use to upgrade your website's features. You can choose which feature you wanna add or improve, the type of ads on your website, how you promote your business to attract new users and some other stuff, and all of that sounds interesting, but trust me, it's not. This game is as shallow as it can be.

The game is a middle tier. Not amazing but not horrible. Once you spend about a hour into the game. You know what the next 10 hours are going to be like. They do a good job though on showing what the game looks like in the Trailer. Nothing much beyond that. The price tag on the game is worth the cost. I honestly would suggest buying another game that you can put more hours into before getting tired. 4/10 - You will get a couple hours of fun out of this before it becomes repetitive.

IMPORTANT: THE GAME HAS NOT RECEIVED ANY BIG UPDATE FOR A LONG TIME BEWARE THAT IT'S POSSIBLE THERE IS NONE TO COME. (I DID NOT CHECK ANY TYPE OF SITE OR NEWS THE DEVS MAY PROVIDE TO USERS) Great game idea of how to approach the sites and your company. The way that sales work, in my opinion is fantastic i really loved it. Grind chain of workers to be able to produce all components in excess for upgrades if awesome. Still think it could have more micro-management stuff as the benefits are not as well develop as they are very simple. As most of the game other companies or in this case, "websites" are easy to surpass the BOT ones the Market is not active. As if you sold your #2 website it is vanished from the ranking as if it has never existed. (this could be a way of having over 100 sites on the ranking) But like i said most games don't focus on this so it is not horrible. In my opinion the game is a bit overpriced but if any promo is up i actually recommend buying. (The price is a variable as witch each country it might be higher or lower, i paid in BRL) But in the other had their new game (BIG AMBITIONS) is a perfect game still in development and highly well developed and user friendly very worth the price!

A glorified Cookie Clicker. You start slow, you have to click your Developers manually and click the modules you want to make, you take on easy simple contracts by manually clicking your sales exec when they find a contract, you earn money little by little. The progress is pretty much streamlined, what's with the tier level unlocking new staff and chairs. Closer to the end there's no need for contracts, managers do your dev clicking work for you, you basically print money automatically, with almost no input. All you have to do is keep Hype level for your own products high by clicking either Update or Marketing buttons. When/If the dev of this game adds the feature of selling your startup to start anew, this is gonna look pretty much like a Prestige/Ascension thingy from Cookie Clicker et al. I don't even know what can be done to move from the concept of Cookie Clicker at this point, I hope the modders will figure it out through the Workshop, and I'll try the game again at some point in the future, when there's a lot of mods and the promised random event system, but for now I don't want to boot it up again. It's even cut short of the promised 8 hours of playtime, 5 hours were enough to get to the "print money" phase. Really wished for it to be deeper than that. Also, the framerate gets choppy closer to the end of the game, and the game's crashed on me once while at it, probably something with the amount of elements and animations from all the employees, the desks, different windows etc. No big deal, it's Early Access, just wanted to point it out. EDIT: since somebody asked me to compare Startup Company to Game Dev Tycoon, here's the link to the comparison: https://pastebin.com/uRWPPhaF

Let me start by saying that this isn't a bad game at all. Why is the review negative? Firstly, this game is perfect if you want to test your accurancy since you click so much and move your mouse so fast that it feels like you're actually using a aim trainer. You have over eight hours, how did you play so long if you don't like the game? I do like the game, however I believe that currently its system is flawed. Let me explain. So this game uses tiers (levels) to make you unlock new stuff, yes you can create your own products but until tier 10 that is not recommended. The current progression is based on click click click, there is no emersion within the environment because fundamentaly the game wants you to click here, click there as fast as you can so that you can create the modules that it is required to complete a job. I have to give credit to the dev because for a one guy project this is fucking amazing, however that might be its achiles, if more resources were to be available to this dev maybe there would be a bigger depth to it, look at Game dev tycoon for instance. That title it is also repretitive as any tycoon but fundamentaly there is diversity within its environment so you don't actually notice the repetitiveness that it is present, however with Startup company there is such a lack of depth that it almost feels like a point clicker game, I know that a lot of people will disagree with me, that's why we have free speech and opinions. Will I play the game any further? Yes, I will but honestly I am playing it so that I can get exausted and sleep. Maybe I'm being harsh but that's because I love this game and what it can become, however it does feel that the game falls short of what it can truly be. Note to Jonas: If you want me to provide more details as to why I feel this way towards your baby, just send me a message. I want nothing more than to see this title succeed.

I recommend you check back later. In it's current state, it's unfortunately rather shallow. There's plenty of stuff to do, but it doesn't really build up to anything greater. It's just a handful of small supply chains connected by A LOT of manual busywork. You'll quickly find the optimal strategy, and then it's just a matter of repeating the same actions and waiting your way to success. The foundations of a good game are certainly there, but they need to find a way to make it less of a linear march towards wealth.

In Startup Company you have the role of entrepreneur and CEO and a mission to start your very own tech company from scratch. The goal is to compete with titans like Gugle, Friendbook and Amazine - the names are just recognizable in the game universe without causing the copyright bells to go off. Your level rises and opens up new employees, such as managers that set work rates for one's employees, designers who can produce graphical modules and HR managers that can regulate your employee's working hours. One element of the game is that your employees get sad and unproductive if they work for a long time without holiday or if their contract does not include things like healthcare and free drinks or if the office is not equipped with meeting tables in heavy oak and a pair of unbearably expensive sofas. As the game progresses, you move on to more website features and server hosting centers. The marketing functionality is like the real world, where your campaign’s success will be based on your ability to correctly target the relevant audience. You’ll also have to improve features based on user feedback. The total satisfaction is based on the average of all features. Satisfaction will directly impact your conversion rate when running marketing campaigns. Running a website with just a landing page won’t be very interesting. Marketing campaigns can be Text Ads, Banner Ads, Video Ads and Subscriptions. I love the aspect of running your own company, and this is one of the best polished and thought through games I have played in the business simulation game genre. THE GOOD - Nice tutorial - Reflects real life business - Different types of website services - Easy to learn / Hard to master - The music is nice THE BAD - Can get repetitive - When your business is getting successful you really don’t have much to do
9/10
DISASTER | BAD | MEDIOCRE | OKAY | GOOD | GREAT | AMAZING | MASTERPIECE
If you like this review, then please consider giving it a thumbs up. I've also reviewed other games that you might find interesting. If so please follow Top of the Chart.
