About the Game

Built to revolutionise suburban travel on newly electrified lines in Britain’s capital, the Class 313 was the forerunner of British Rail’s Second Generation production fleet and would start a history that is still being written to this day. And now, the Class 313 arrives in Train Simulator for prominent North London Line service courtesy of Partner Programme developer, Armstrong Powerhouse!

A total of 64 Class 313 EMUs were delivered between 1976 and 1977 and were based at Hornsey TMD for the ECML and Willesden TMD for the North London Line. Built as 3-car units, the Class 313s were an overall improvement to previous rolling stock, upping capacity all while reducing journey times thanks to improved acceleration & braking when compared to First Generation EMUs.

The Class 313s continued their North London duties right up until 2010, having seen sectorisation into Network SouthEast in 1986 and privatisation in 1997, where the units came under National Express’ Silverlink control. After a decade of resplendent Silverlink service, Transport for London began to take over various commuter routes, including the North London Line, to form a modernised network called London Overground.

One major part of the modernisation was introduction of new rolling stock, as a result, the Class 313s never received any major livery changes; units were simply rebranded, a giant purple decal was placed over the Silverlink logo, and basic London Overground wording was affixed to the centre of each driving vehicle – the 313s never saw the classic TfL Roundel applied to them.

In 2009, the introduction of a new fleet, formed of Bombardier’s Class 378 Capitalstars, had begun. Class 313s would regularly be withdrawn from London Overground service, with the last unit forming a West London Line service to Willesden Junction on 13th September, 2010. Despite their age, the Class 313s found a new lease of life shortly after their North London withdrawal; either joining their siblings on the ECML or being moved to Southern for Coastway services out of Brighton.

Armstrong Powerhouse’s fully-featured representation of the Class 313 is now ready for service in Train Simulator; resplendent in ex-Silverlink ‘London Overground’ livery. The Class 313 is the perfect traction to experience yesteryear’s North London services!

This add on worked very well until the latest TS classic update. Now it has been broken by the update and won't move (unless you let it roll down a hill!). I understand the developer, AP has released a fix for this for products bought from their own website, but this fix doesn't appear to be applied to the version sold via 'Steam', as I have re downloaded it and it is still broken. Yes I do know how to drive it, as it worked fine before! I don't recommend spending money on this unless you have confirmed you are buying the updated (not the original) version, otherwise you will be buying a train that doesn't work. It's a pity as this was a quality add on, and will be again once repaired.

WARNING: Does not work with the latest TSC core. While the DLC is fine, I strongly advise to get it from Armstrong Powerhouse directly. It is patched to work with latest TSC release, and you get a load of extra liveries plus a realistic branding patch, and many more scenarios. DO NOT BUY ON STEAM! BUY FROM ARMSTRONG POWERHOUSE!

Found the 6 career scenarios no problem, 3 Adv, plus the duplicate 3 Std. Did notice in the 1809 Stratford to Richmond scenario that the same error that is in the 313 bought direct from AP site is still there which is a bit of a shame. The 313 starts at Stratford P2 with Pantograph up (there is no 3rd Rail there) but there is no overhead wires either at the position the 313 starts the scenario. The trains starting position is set too far back down P2. This also cause a problem with passengers entering the 313, the only doors that open are a few at the rear of train that open onto the wrong platform, there is a brick wall at that position which the passengers walk through from the wrong platform to enter train. All that needed to be done was move the 313 further up platform 2 a little so it would be under the overhead wires and also then you wouldnt get passengers entering train from wrong platform through a brick wall. The 313 does still actually move without the overhead wires at scenario starting position but AP could have spent a few minutes to have put this right in the first place. Apart from the above i do actually like the 313 itself so still reccomend it.

This is a really good add-on. To be honest, this is actually the best single train you can possibly get for TS. The sounds and model are to top-notch detail thanks to Armstrong Powerhouse. It's fab for all of my electrified routes. I've tried it out so far on the MML, BML, GEML and the IOW. Only downside was working out how to get the pantograph up and contact shoes down but got that all sorted now! :) 10/10!

I bought London overground BR Class 313 EMV add on. Trains don't run. Does anyone have a suggestion what I do wrong? When I explained to technical support, I did not get any help.

Very well built train, nice sound and drving mechanics. Only thing that I found missing is operational Brake demand light.
WARNING - Read below!
This is a great DLC. However, if you have seen this DLC on the Armstrong Powerhouse website and wondered why it was cheaper here, let me tell you why. The only livery you get for this train is the London Overground "sticker" livery. You don't get the FCC, Sourthern Coastways or original Silverlink livery here. Maybe I was stupid, and didn't read in depth enough, but |I have requested a refund, and advise you to buy this train through AP if you wish to use all the liveries. Otherwise, get it here.
