Fencing is an exciting, contemporary competitive sport that involves the skilled use of the sport's three weapons: foil, epee, and sword. Three different groups of weapons are used in Fencing, and each of the weapons has its own rules and regulations. Three weapons--the epee, the foil, and the sword--are used in Fencing, with individual and team competitions available. The epee and the foil are pointed thrust weapons, whereas the Sabre can also thrust and cut through the blade edges of the sword. The Sabre is the only of the three types of fencing swords in which the blade's body counts, in addition to the tip.
