  I could not get a constant high framerate, running on GTX 1080 I7-8700k. That with clipping through the map made the game unplayable. I also crashed twice. I'm not going to refund for a week, but if there aren't any updates im going to. It seems like a horror game, but i honestly cant tell as ive only gotten through 5 minuets.

  For the best experience right now on Rift, forget that a story-driven narrative is supposed to exist. Pull up a Joy of Painting video in an OVRDrop window, and do your best to follow Bob Ross along and paint something that resembles a mountainous landscape with happy little trees. When Bob's done, you're done. Take a seat on the bench, pour yourself some tea, throw an apple at your painting and cycle your way through the bad boy place and back to the cabin in the woods. Then, start the next video, and assume your place in a perpetual purgatory, where any hope of escape is lost, where the price of defiant impatience is a deformed hand turned inside out, where a phantom pair of hands now float outside, perhaps the severed remains of the cabin's previous tenant there to haunt you. As you paint, you feel the unending tremors shake through your hands. Is it fear, the fear of losing your mind to cabin fever? The fear of some supernatural force out to get you? The fear of another failure to make a magnificent piece of artwork and not living up to the already low expectations of Bob? The fear of a night that never seems to come? No, it's those accursed phantom hands bumping into a fence outside triggering your motion feedback! The game's a little buggy right now, but it sure is fun to try to paint with Bob Ross.

  [Updated 2/1/20 after first (of hopefully many) bug/performance fixes update] The developer has changed the performance from unusable to tolerable, so I guess that's ok now. Running it at 90hz (instead of 120 or 144) still produces some frame drops, but they aren't nauseating. When the game restarts after you fail the performance is still significantly worse, meaning you must manually restart it. The hands lagging is fixed, probably tied to the general performance fixes. However, at this point the only thing keeping me from meeting the locals is my patience. I still do think this game should be in early access, as it doesn't feel stable yet. The developer seems to be fixing stuff though, so eventually we might have a good game. My hardware (for reference): Valve Index i7 9700k RTX 2070 Super 32GB sh*tty 2400mhz RAM SATA SSD

  I seem to be grabbing apps lately that confound me in one way or another, and this one has not proved different. I have tested this on the Index with knuckles controllers, and on the Oculus Rift S. I stopped there due to the issues that I encountered as they were consistent in both cases. I will absolutely change my review should an update come out to resolve the worst of these, but for now *hint* my suggestion is a resounding DO NOT buy at this juncture. Now here is why: Performance: I am testing on the latest Windows 10, Intel 9900K CPU, 64GB DDR4 3200 RAM, and NVIDIA 2800Ti Aorus Extreme Gigabit GPU. This should be more than enough to handle this particular title, however while it loaded initially fine, I was quickly witnessing my virtual hands clipping and lagging to the point that the stutter while using the smooth mobility was completely distracting and immersive breaking. As the experience continued the performance got worse every cycle (I will not explain that bit to avoid spoilers, suffice it to say the longer I played the worse it became) Defects: I should have put "Defects?" I ran into so many small technical issues that I started to become unsure of whether or not I was experiencing intentional mischief or crippling bugs... and I have to give this title the honorary title of "First game to make me think I might be color blind". I will only cover the two weirdest for the sake of time. 1. Am I color blind?? Not only is it very hard to select a color properly, once done sometimes it matches the color you picked up (and is represented on the tip), and sometimes not (or maybe picking up a color that is under/by the one you are trying for). One in particular, though is very obviously Blue in the pallet. What ends up on the canvas however is most definitely GREY... at least I think? Am I color blind or is the developer? #2, in my adventures I found myself. No, literally, while exploring I came upon a set of my own hands.. sentient hands.. and during this little joy ride one of my normal hands ended up looking like it had been defleshed and inverted.. Oh, and the crazy new "me hands" were functional. I could pick things up, and even paint with the ghost set if I contorted myself to use them. If I get the motivation I will post some screen shots, but suffice it to say either elaborate prank or hopefully a pointer for the Dev to find at least one cause of the performance issues? I wish I could say it got better, but I think it got worse as the experience went on. On the Rift S I slowly melded with "the" event table at one point and in a furious attempt to escape ended up outside thee house, and then back again. Both Index and Rift S had ghost hands.. (not to be confused with Jazz hands) and just about every other issue the same. I will update this review based on progress seen, but for now I am not even touching it with another headset for now.. I am harsh on this due to the issues, but also due to this not being listed as an early release product. This means that one should expect a complete title that is mostly free of the obvious bugs. That unfortunately is not the case here and while I only tested 2 of the listed supported HMDs I am relatively certain I would see them across the board. @developer I might suggest an update to the status of the title to properly manage expectations if the intent is to actually grow this title, or, please do set me straight if I am missing something obvious.

  Is the game good? probably not. but just like the 10 hour mixes on youtube and other challenges like that. i left it feeling a sad feeling of achievement. i watched pain dry. and then got complimented on my art. this was a silly journey i spent 4 euros on. but not one i will regret. 10/10 would waste a few hours of my life again.
