The King's Campaign is a standalone version of the Royal Blood DLC campaign for Medieval Kingdom Wars with the Greater World DLC expanded map

About the Game

Kingdom Wars 2: Definitive Edition is an intense real-time strategy game set in a dark fantasy world of Orcs, Elves and Dragons. It combines the best of Zombie survival and long term crafting with complex fast-paced city building. Engage in skirmish siege combat that turns beautiful landscapes into gory blood-soaked battlefields.

Completely Redesigned

The original Kingdom Wars 2 has been reworked and redesigned from the ground up. With new engine, sweet new graphics, and a total update of presentation, and interface. This is not just a high definition version, but a new gameplay experience.

The Great Races

The game is focused on the dominant races of Humans, Elves and Orcs with each able to recruit from other races depending on the alliances, techs and buildings they have available. Among the other races you will find scurrying Goblins, lumbering Ogres, mighty Minotaurs, ancient Treants, magical Dragons, crafty Dwarves, and fearsome Skeletal Warriors.

Heroes and Wizards

Each of the great races can recruit a variety of Heroes each with their own abilities to bolster their allies or decimate their foes. The three Orders of Wizards have also each aligned themselves with one of the great races, and use their vast magical power to shift the course of battle with terrifying Lightning Storms and devastating Blizzards.

Story-driven Campaign

Play an epic story-driven singleplayer campaign combining engaging cinematic narrative and original gameplay to determine the fate of the three great races as they try to survive in a world engulfed by total war after they fall out of favour with the gods.

Skirmish Battle

Engage in the complex city building and economy of a fast paced skirmish environment as you gather resources, construct buildings, reinforce walls and train troops before being swept up in field and siege battles with up to four players or AI. Craft the right Techs and Cards, and perfect your strategy and play style to ensure that victory is yours.

Survival Mode

The dead have risen and are marching towards your settlement with blood-thirsty determination. How long can you survive when your own dead bolster the ranks of the enemy if you don't burn the bodies quickly enough? Go it alone to prove your mettle as you play in solo mode or share in the struggle by inviting a friend to co-op mode.

Siege Combat Mechanics

Attackers can demolish gates with Battering Rams, scale walls with Ladders and Siege Towers, bombard the defenders and breach walls with Trebuchets and Dwarven Cannons. Meanwhile the defenders can hold the gates with boiling Oil Pots, skewer the advancing hordes with hidden Spike Traps, crush their enemies with Stone Tippers, and more. Set the battlefield ablaze with flame throwing Dragon's Breath machine, cower the moving shield that is the Mantlet, and mow down your enemies with the spinning blades of the Grinder.

Complex Crafting System

Every battle gives a chance to collect crafting items ranging from the common Tools and Blueprints to the rare Legendary Weapons and Tomes of Magic. Crafting is tied into every aspect of the game, from crafting new deadly siege weapons and units buildings, to creating new game cards, or researching new industrial technologies.

Tech Tree

Each of the great races has their own Tech Tree to unlock and research using various combinations of crafting items, providing opportunities for management and long-term strategic thinking as you unlock your ideal set of buildings, units and abilities to ensure victory in battle.

Strategic Card Game

You can build various combinations of playable card decks that you acquire through crafting that you use during battle to give extra resources, provide re-inforcements or call upon magical effects. You will need to think strategically about which cards to take into battle and tactically about when to use them, as playing the right card at the right time can shift the tide of battle.

Online Community

Use the chat channels to make friends, get help and arrange battles. Join guilds and alliances to show your allegiance and gain extra rewards. Invite your friends to co-op battle together and challenge your enemies to battle.

I do like this game and it's a cheap budget title. There are better RTS games, but for as cheap as it is, it's pretty good. The races are fairly unique and the unlock and card system are a unique choice that rewards playing a lot. The orcs are my favorite and spawn units constantly but each race has their own benefits. The survival is an excellent time as well.

This is a glorified mobile game. It calls itself a city builder, but you can't decide where to build your city. You click a button on the town hall and a wall gets built around a random area. You read that right: in this STRATEGY game, you cannot decide on your STRATEGY. It is predetermined for you. The wall goes in a predetermined place. Want to block that chokepoint? Too bad. Want to concentrate your defenses to avoid having to defend a long, strung-out wall? Too bad. The towers go in predetermined places. Want them somewhere else? Too bad. Your workers cut predetermined trees. Want to clear the trees out of a certain area? Too bad. You walked you workers and a horse cart over to that area and clicked on the trees you want them to start with? Too bad, they are walking all the way back to cut the trees they want to cut. In short, this is not a strategy game. It is a click-and-watch simulator, dressed up and marketed as a strategy game.

-A FEW WORDS FIRST If you want to play a decent game from this company then go get Medieval Kingdom Wars. Braindead AI, bad path finding, only 3 factions, limited maps are few of the bad things I can say. Don't waste your hard earned money on this. Waste them on they're other game, at least there you'll have some fun. Have in mind this is a 3 people company. So I got to give them credit for that. But yeah, go play their other game, not this one. This should be free to play. Another disappointment... I will keep it short. Game is full of bugs. I played 3 hours but several times it crashed or white screen. Also for its year it looks very old. There are other issues too. But the game is not completely trash. Idea is good. They even added zombies to the game. Well as resident evil fan I appreciate that addendum. Moreover there some races which I love like elves and orcs exist. Game mechanics are not bad at all. But like I said there not much effort to remove bugs and lags. When they will do some optimization to game I will write an addendum to my review. For now it is not worth it...

I didnt know there was a definitive edition in the works until I received an email this afternoon. I really enjoyed the first version even if it was a little rough around the edges. Have only played this version for a bit but it feels a bit crisper. Working through the campaign again and will update accordingly. the only downside so far is no borderless windowed unless im a potato and missed it.

I loved the idea of the game. With the new engine supposedly wrote to make the game faster and better... its not. It's somehow worse! In KW2:Battles I was able to have a fight with my full pop against another's and had some frame drop but it was somewhat manageable. I cant even have my full pop on the screen without my frames dipping to almost 0. Played survival and that was so much worse. Its vastly unplayable right now and im just disappointed. If they continue to work on it as promised it will be playable in 2 years.

Nothing changed. Still buggy pathfinding. Still some towers can't be reached. The AI leaves their gates open for you. Formations feel like mobs doing a conga-line. You still can't build your own walls it premade paths. Interface feels very outdated and convoluted. This would be acceptable for an early alpha. But this game was in the works for years. So please avoid this game and be careful about buying any other games. They could be the next CodeHatch!

15 July 2019: I don't write reviews a lot, but this game definitely deserves more attention. On overall, I have mixed feelings, since there are some performance issues, especially when you are playing a multiplayer game. However, developers are aware of these issues and they promise to fix them. So, why not give them a chance? I haven't played a good RTS game for a while. Hopefully, KW2 can do the trick. I'm planning to update the review, let's see how it goes... 18 July 2019: So, they've released their 4th update in a week. This one includes performance, AI and UI improvements, small changes in game mechanics and so on. What I would like to discuss today, however, is not the updates. I intend to give a brief idea about the game. Firstly, the graphics seem outdated at first glance, but they grow on you in time as you begin to like the aura of the game. Mechanics can be clingy and frustrating. Unit movements and units' reaction to player commands definitely need improvement. Gameplay, on the other hand, can be counted as one of the strongest sides. It is possible to enjoy some good ol' 2 vs 2 RTS match, where you try to build an economy and train massive armies as fast as you can. Rejoice, when you see your freshly built walls stand tall and your pigs that would provide food for your people grow fatter. If you are not a fan of PvP, then why don't you try some zombie survival with your pal, where you defend your settlement against the hideous walkers wave after wave. And before I forget, zombies are not just in the survival mode. In a skirmish game, troops that die also become zombies. This is where things get interesting because here's what happens. You triumphed against the massive army that breached your walls and almost had you. You cry in glory and happiness. And all of a sudden, you see all the man that shed blood either to defend or to end you, have now arisen. It was at this moment he knew, he zombied up :) These are all that I want to say for today and rest assured that I still haven't covered hall of the things that needs to be said about this game. 21 July 2019: Let's talk about the Orcs, my favorite race. By the way, did I mention that there are 3 races in this game. So, you can be Humans, Orcs or Elves. I have very little experience with Elves and I don't feel confident enough to discuss them in a review. Orcs, on the other hand, are cute little monsters that I love. There are 2 worker types, i.e., Laborers and Marauders. Laborers gather wood, mine stone and gold and also build your buildings but, cannot attack. Marauders gather food, they are good hunters and can use their bow and arrow against your enemies as well. These units continuously spawn from the Grand Hut, i.e., your command center. You can decide to stop the spawning process. But you don't have to click every time you need a unit like you do in a typical RTS game. When it comes to more advanced combat units, it's even more interesting. You build structures similar to barracks and stables and send your Marauders or Laborers to them so they'd would become trained warriors. Therefore, you can't independently spawn combat units, but rather use your workers to transform into them. I don't want to spoil all the game mechanics of the Orcs and make this review too long so here I stop for today. However, I have to add that Orcs go with the motto "Quantity over quality". 25 August 2019: My initial plan was to keep the updates coming on the review since, the developers were eagerly fixing the game. But, they have stopped updating it and I thought they were working on something bigger so I've waited but, still there's nothing. However, I, and hopefully also the developers, don't believe that the game doesn't need more work. There are still some performance issues and improvements are needed on some core mechanics. Plus, the game needs some small incentives, things that will keep you playing. It still feels rather blunt and vanilla. On top of that, it's hard to find someone to play, I mean I also haven't been playing it for some time now. I'm afraid, the game is fading. Let's hope that my next review will be about the new update and about how exciting it is to play again. It will either be that or the thumb that I've kept up all this time, will fall down... 23 September 2019: So, the update that I was talking about happened but, I have lost my enthusiasm for this game. Still there are not many players online, which not only deprives you from enjoying a good 2 vs 2 game, but also discourages the developers to further invest to this project. The latest update claims the following: "In addition update features improved sound system with better quality of battle sounds. There are also some improvements to the performance, especially in the late game skirmish and survival, and dozen of others fixes.", which I believe is okay and well executed. However, I still do not see a reason to return playing it. I estimate that an average RTS fan would play this game for no more than 20 hours. If that's okay for you, then you might wanna check it. Finally, I have decided to keep the review positive for a little more, we'll see how it goes. 10 May 2020: Hello again. I've decided to comeback for another update to reach some sort of a closure for this game. Some updates have arrived between my last review update and this one. And there are plans for major updates, in which first of them to be released on this June. However, I do not plan to further update the review. I believe the last few lines on my previous update is still valid. By the way, I've seen that the game becomes ridiculously cheap during sales so if you are interested, you might wanna wait and grap it in a sale. I guess that's it. Stay safe.

Playing offline Survival mode, there's a glaring lag in response time for units, when issuing orders, that makes the game feel like it's being played on a shitty server. It's been years and the developers have not fixed this, among several other irritating issues. It's cheap and poorly executed, in spite of ongoing updates. It's bad, definitively. There's a reason it's got a 70% score. Don't waste time or money on this game.

Annihilation Skirmish against AI elves is impossible to win. I don't know if it is a bug or not, but it is impossible to destroy everything they have all at the same time. Edit: I needed more space for my response to the Dev (whom I appreciate for responding to my review) Thank you for replying. Although, I will have to maintain my bad review because of the many other bugs that have been present in all of the Kingdom Wars games. 1. Destroyed buildings remain at zero health for quite some time. This causes the units attacking it to waste time (since they continue to attack it). When controlling any unit that is attacking a building with zero health, I tell the unit to move away from the building. The unit begins to move but after a few steps, the unit goes back to attacking the destroyed building. I have to take the unit off of aggressive mode and then have it go to their destination and then toggle them back to aggressive mode. 2. Quite often I tell the harvesters/peasants to chop down a tree but they instead go to a different tree which is where I do not want them to go. Many times this is when they are within the innermost part of the base on the hill. They proceed to go all the way down the hill and chop down a tree that is at the base. In order to fix this, I have to literally have them stand next to the tree I want them to harvest before I give them the command. 3. Also, there is a point on the top of the hill where the keep is by the berry bushes where the some peasants (and from different groups) get stuck and I have to disband them so that I can train a fresh group that is at full health/full efficiency. 4. If the units are getting attacked, then when you want them to run away you have to manually set them to standby mode and then move them. Otherwise, they will remain engaged with the enemy. This makes it difficult to cycle in new units to the battle and retreat the hurt ones. It would be nice if double clicking the RMB would override any commands and they would just sprint to wherever I tell them to go. 5. Units still just attack the enemy at the point their formation comes into contact with the enemy most of the time. That means that they are not using all the available front line men in the battle (even if there is plenty of room around them to maneuver. 6. I can place a hero on top of a gate and use his special area attack (just swinging his sword) and kill the enemy that is on the ground at the gate). 7. I tell my units to run to an enemy that is behind a wall to attack them at full speed. The gate is destroyed, but they run straight into the wall closest the enemy and then reroute to the opening. This makes it so we have to micromanage our units to make sure they don't waste time getting filled with arrows from taking a horrible path. 8. I am also wondering if it is possible to repair a gate without opening it for the enemy to rush through? There are no enemies within my sight but after I start repairing the gate it opens and then the enemy comes out of the fog of war and marches straight through. 9. When the elves attacked my base, the treants were able to walk through my stone gate while the top half of their bodies just clip through the ramparts that are over the gate. This really breaks any semblance of physical laws. 10. This might relate to the bugged mode of annihilation for skirmish, but I wanted to get defeated since I couldn't beat the elves and so I opened all my gates, kill all my units, and waited. They just came in to the bottom part of my base and just sat there. They were on easy, but I would imagine that any easy enemy would still beat a player in any game if that player was defenseless. 11. The missiles from the trebs explode over top of unprotected troops. The boulders don't even make contact with the ground. You can even see this in KW2:DE's trailer! The sometimes the troops are properly damaged, but there are times when it bugs out and they are not hurt at all. 12. All of these issues have been present since the MMO version of Kingdom Wars 1. Seriously, these games have great potential, but they need to be fixed. It has been years and years with players complaining about the same bugs from the first Kingdom Wars till now.
