  Some users are reporting that all scenarios are working perfectly. This is not my experience. Somehow along the way, something has been broken by an update (not unusual for DTG), or the report was made by a fanboy that couldn't put himself to report the bug encountered for fear of shaming his beloved sim; or this is only an occasional bug: on the scenario Maschen Mix-up, I got a message at a stop telling me "now that this ICE has passed, see if you can make good time". No ICE that I could see did pass, and at the next stop, I got a red signal that never cleared. I did encounter an ICE in the opposite direction a bit later, though. Patience wearing thin, after finally requesting permission to pass the red signal at danger, I reached the end of the scenario arriving ten minutes late, to be greated by a message congratulating me for my performance (a score of -1434 or so points for being late) telling me that I had finally arrived on time with the initial delay not having impacted my arrival time. Doing the scenario a second time I'm forced to stop in front of a green signal for no good reason (where it should have been red to probably allow a faster ICE train to overtake me), again with the message about the ICE passing (who was actually stopped on the track next to me me when I arrived at the location). Later on, I did'nt get the red signal and was able to reach the goal in time. A typical DTG untested buggy scenario, as per their legendary low quality standards. One more bug in this scenario, if it was not enough: when driving head out, the camera is pointing in the direction opposite to the direction of travel. On the 2nd scenario, "Night Line", you got fined and receive hundreds or thousands of negative points for being late, even if you arrive to the VIA marker half a minute in advance of the time written on the HUD. In the end to be able to score a few points, you'll need to arrive at the VIA markers several minutes in advance to score around +10 to + 70 points. Arriving a few seconds late would mean losing -800 points to more than -1000 points. As to the locomotive itself. It's not too bad for a DTG product. The cab is rather nicely detailed and a "reasonable" (i.e. more than usual for a DTG product) number of controls are working and activated with the mouse. The only bad thing is that the direct control brake is not usable with the HUD or an x-box controller. Scenario wise, the offer is rather poor: Only two tutorial scenarios: simple control (useless) and advanced mode (useless too as I can read the manual) and a freight scenario taking place during the day (bugged) and an other freight scenario taking place at night, and also bugged, as reported above. There is a more detailed and complete model of the DB BR189 made by Virtual Railroad (DB BR189 VRot ExpertLine) if you want the more complete experience. But the DTG model can be a good alternative (albeit much more limited) when on sale if you're on a budget. I can't force myself to give a thumbs up to this product, as there is no way of giving a neutral review. Still, I recommend it only to be bought during a sale.

  Let me preface this by saying I don't live in Europe so I've never seen one of these before. I do not know exactly what sounds they should have or how they should perform compared to other similar locomotives. But I will say I greatly enjoyed driving it. It's performance is very impressive both with acceleration and braking. The sounds seem realistic to me based on youtube videos I've watched. Finally, if you'd like to "drive before you buy" you can find a BR 189 in the Train Simulator Academy. Try out some of the basic tutorials or make yourself a scenario with it. + Nice sharp graphics inside and out + Very nice layout on instrument and control cluster with instrument lights that are bright but do not glare. + Good accelleration and braking. Good physics in general. + All scenarios work perfectly + All achievements work perfectly. + Good sounds. (See disclaimer at the top) + Has scenarios on Hamburg - Hannover, one of my favorite routes. - Not a darn thing. It's ugly? And that yellow... Fortunately you don't see this inside it ;) There is one issue tho it's with the route not the locomotive. On one of the scenarios there is a speed drop to 60 kph. You get a warning for this inside the cab however for an extremely short length of track - a few meters - it's actually 40. But if you hit at 60 it'll take quite a few points instantly before you're over it. If there is notification on the track I could not find it. My advice: Hit F2 and save frequently.

  This train does live up to some extent to some of DTG's quality standards, entirely custom interior with custom sounds and horns, the cab is extremely well detailed with many functionality that makes it perfect for all-day-round usage of the locomotive even at night. The graphical details are very nice while the only massive issue with this train is the separate break controllers, you can't control the combined break control leaver because it is tied to an XBOX controller and you can't control it with the keyboard. So, the breaking with that is pretty good but since it is entirely separate system and the engine break doesn't do anything at all this kind of leaves a sour taste. The train is nice but due to the break control issues I can not recommend it. Overall score is 5 out of 10. [Only buy when discounted 50% or more.]

  One of my favorite Germal loco ever what I drive in TS, like it so much. You can earn 1000 in career scenario without using any HUD's

  Very nice model, well detailed, good sounds, includes a tutorial (kinda useless....) and only two scenarios. All the achievements work. The Scenarios can be easily completed with a few tries. I just wish all of DTG's DLCs were this good, but it's 2014. Sad.
