  Fantastic Game! I played it when I was a kid on my mom's desktop computer. It was wonderful to find out it was on Steam. It is much easier (and less scary) than when I was 7.

  It's ok as Hidden Object adventures go, although gets a bit repetitive. The quality of the pictures often makes it difficult to spot the objects and there are some idioms which change between rooms e.g. 'pigskin' and 'football' both result in an American football being the correct answer, but in different rooms. The puzzle to piece together diary pieces is ok but a bit repetitive so could have done with a bit more variation. The story is fine but not that engaging and has no real sense to it. Buy it if it's cheap but there are a lot better ones out there.

  Yes, I recommend the Mystery Case File series. But No not this game until it is fixed or revised. They, MCF, are for the most part fun games. But for some reason there is something going on, or wrong with this game. And I am not talking about the content. (That don't bother me, though it could be disgusting for some I guess) But what I am having trouble with is the game play. But mostly the lock on the cage in the basement of the house. I turned on the boiler and steamed up the mirror and saw the combination to enter onto the lock so I did and it will not open the lock. I have tried the combination in many different ways and it still will not unlock . So now I am stuck and I can't move forward. I have looked at multiple videos on the section and read may walk through but they all show the same thing and they enter the combination by pushing the little buttons and it quickly opens but when I do it it will not. Can any one who design this game help. There has been other puzzles that will not work but usually there was something I missed but this one there doesn't seem to be anything that I missed doing. Please help or I will not be able to finish this game. Some one need to install a fix or a correct game play, help map in game, in order to help you out if you get stuck or if something in the game starts going wrong. Usually the help button will at least help you out but my help button will not work at all. Please fix this Thank you

  Pretty good mystery puzzle game, but DO NOTE that this cannot go full screen unless you reduce your monitor resolution to 800x600. That's pretty much the only flaw

  Basically a fairly straightforward mystery split up by a whole bunch of Hidden-object puzzles and an image puzzle for each "chapter". Not a terrible game but I think that it aged poorly on modern tech. The options are to play fullscreen or in a teeny tiny window so the most difficult part of the hidden object puzzles is making out some of the incredibly pixelated or absurdly tiny objects. It is playable if you have a lot of patience/stubborn streak but you'll want lots of breaks to rest your eyes. I liked the occasional 'lock' puzzles quite a bit more than the rest of the game play. Other players may have better luck with their screen size but I have to call this one "barely playable".

  This game is fun. Hours and hours of hidden object puzzles broken up by puzzle piece mystery games. There are door lock puzzles to crack that grant you entry to the next part of the spooky house, some are logic puzzles and some are quite surreal. The game is well put together with great imagination and creativity to keep you engaged. This was my first MCF game, I bought it based on the great reviews, and I was not disappointed.

  First thing to note, in response to some of the other reviews, I did not have any issue with the screen resolution. Mine automatically went full screen every time I played it, and I could minimize the game without it seeming to have affected anything else. I'm sure the screen resolution was a real issue, but I'm no expert on computers so I don't know if mine worked because of my computer or the issue itself has been fixed. I played this game around when it first came out, and then spent the next 15 years thinking about the Ravenhearst saga every couple of months or so. This game is a pretty straightforward hidden object game with some door puzzles and jigsaw puzzles (for the journal entries) thrown in for good measure. Each level you need to find a certain number of objects, but there are always a few more objects available to find than are needed. That gives some wiggle room to just not find some objects if you're having a hard time. There are some other reviews that give a more detailed description so I'll leave it at that. I did not find it terribly difficult, but it was still enjoyable. My only issue was the amount of spiders in the rooms, but that is a purely personal problem as I am afraid of spiders. Most of the spiders I was able to glance over without focusing too much. There are enough objects that the wiggle room provided lets me not look too closely at these spiders. There are a couple of rooms that want me to find the spider, but I can just click blindly in the general area and get it. No worries about finding it, because either it was big enough that I spotted and avoided it right away or small enough that there aren't enough details to be afraid of. There is one room however, the cellar, that has a large colorful tarantula front and center. I always keep this room for last. I have no idea what objects are on the bottom half of this room, I can't look at it. I just hope that however many objects I have left are on the top half or findable with hints. I am most of the way through this game and so far this method has worked. Again though, this is only a problem because I am afraid of spiders. If you do not have arachnophobia, literally nothing in this paragraph matters. And with that digression, I would like to admit that I am mostly here for the story. The game itself is good, but I am in love with this story. Have been for years now. I am looking forward to playing the rest of them, especially Return to Ravenhearst.
