  This review is using the STEAM DECK. Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved is a twin stick shooter. Two joysticks and a "smartbomb" button. You steer with one joystick and fire with another. It's gameplay is arcade like, it's visually interesting, and the sound on Steam Deck is great. I would recommend this on a normal screen device - but also, this is a perfect game for a Steam Deck.

  This game is likely older than a lot of people on Steam but it's a classic and it still works mostly fine on modern system. It also runs flawlessly on Steam Deck with inherent controls that don't need to be modified at all. GW1 suppports modern resolutions like 2560x1440 or 3840x2160 and supports every controller I've ever used - Neptune (Deck), xinput and Sony. If you aren't familiar with the game, it's a free-movement 2D space shooter set inside a rectangular bounding box where enemies or waves of enemies and obstacles spawn in periodically and each time you kill one you can collect a score modifier as well as earn weapon power-ups, bombs, and extra lives. The original game doesn't have a ton of content and only has one game mode, but at $4 you'll going to get plenty of mileage out of a simple arcade game.

  I would buy an XBox 360 just to play this game and its sequel on XBLA. Can someone at Steam get Geometry Wars 2 on Steam for purchase!?!?!?

  This is one of my favorite games of all time. Very addictive, fast, and flashy also the best twin stick shooter. If you're a fan of smash tv then this is a must have. I hope the other Geometry Wars games get on steam one day.

  Bomb Voyage.

  Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved is a PC port of the seminal Xbox 360 launch title, presented to a (potentially) new audience. While the premise of the game is simple (destroy everything on screen and don't get hit), it becomes challenging as well as infuriating later on - but in the best way. In many ways, Geometry Wars is a throwback to traditional arcade titles and encompasses the best of them in many ways: you fight various different enemies, each with their own mechanics, and is designed as a twin-stick shooter at heart; your experience will likely be much better with a controller, but it is also playable with a mouse and keyboard. You earn lives and bombs at set points in the scoring process, with the game ending when your lives are over. It sounds simple, and it is - but easy, it is not (or at least not for me). The mechanics are also quite straightforward, but also deceptively tricky; things seem to happen at random (e.g. certain enemies spawning at random points, no pattern in terms of what comes next etc.) which keeps it fresh and challenging, while providing an opportunity for skilled players to differentiate themselves from the rest of the crop. If you are looking for deep, meaningful gameplay and an engaging story - this is not it. If you are looking for something easy to pick up, tricky to master, as well as addicting, Geometry Wars may well fit the bill. Sadly, leaderboards are missing which does detract from the longevity (for some), but it does not take away from what is a fantastic title. Played on Windows 11 Pro x64 without any issues. P.S. Avoid if you are sensitive to bright colours and/or flashing lights.

  This is an excellent game, for such a low price. I may have only played a few hours of it, but I got many more on the original DS release. You could have 10 friends watch you play it, and it wouldn't lose a frame. Constant 60fps on a low performing computer, combined with bright colours and a great way to prove your reflexes, there really is nothing bad about this game. 1000/10 for such the low price that it is.
