You are the best warrior of the King, and you have a task: to find an ancient evil, an immortal necromancer who hides in the depths of the dungeons.
You are good with melee weapons, however, this may not be enough for the success of your mission.

Dungeon labyrinths were built a long time ago.
Many secret passages, lost artifacts, wandering merchants.
All of these can strengthen you!
Magic staves will give you opportunities that exceed any melee weapon.
Elixirs will fill you with fortitude, stamina and health.
Ancient rings will give unusual abilities that you could not even think of.

Make your way through the dungeons, crush their walls and their defenders - to find and challenge the ancient necromancer.
And in the event of your death, well, it's okay: the King will send the next knight on this deadly mission.

Game features.

- Permanent death: if the knight dies, then the King's task will have to be completed by another. The King has many knights.
- Fighting with swords: the emphasis in the combat system is on melee weapons. In addition to normal attacks, knights can also push opponents away and parry their attacks.
- Items: There are a lot of items hidden in the dungeons that will help you in battles.
- Secret locations: a particularly attentive knight will be able to find secret corridors and halls, sometimes with tangible benefits for himself.
- Merchants: occasionally knights will find peaceful characters, and in secret locations they will be able to purchase amplifying artifacts from them.

The technical side.

- I wrote the engine code in C++, this is a software renderer. This means that the whole picture is being built by the CPU forces.
- I used Code::Blocks, GCC, VisualStudio, Sleepy, Blender, GIMP, Audacity to create code, models, textures and sounds.
- In general, the project is inspired by games from the 90s, that era of early 3D on the PC.

    alright so an hour and a half in, this game has kept my interest, I love the art style, parrying feels nice. its nice to just turn my brain off when playing this, in a good way

    Pretty good combat, a bit restrictive on the stamina. Wish it ran above 60 fps though but it's the guys own engine so whatever.

    Definitely recommend. Surprisingly difficult (in a good way), the combat and magic is satisfying and the story is simple but good. There's a bunch of secrets and incentive to explore. Also the progression is quite rewarding. Great little game. keep in mind it isn't very long! 8/10

    Love the sound and feedback from combat. Would love a full fledged rpg campaign using this system and expanded.

    Good game design, stupid implementation of most of it. Everything feels like being made to stretch the gameplay time as far as possible, and it gets over the top, here's how: - Obnoxiously greedy stats - you don't even get an actual extra hitpoint if you pick up a MaxHP upgrade, and most spells cost 75% or MORE of your [starting] mana which doesn't regenerate. This results in a dreadful feeling of having a good capacity for health or magic, but nothing to fill them with. - On the other side, you see overpowered mage enemies with infinite mana, who can reach you through 2 walls (the most basic one), or something like 5 walls (the advanced one), while you don't even see them and their splash damage area is not visually indicated, so they can damage you both through the wall and around a corner which they don't destroy while still damaging you; - Ridiculous inability to crouch - this leads to you being unable to gather some loot of your enemies, and when it's about an ingots, it's not a good thing. While for some reason you can fit in a 3x1 block of space, in which your enemies can not. Also, you can break the upper 2/3 of the wall, but if you don't break the lower part (and that costs more mana), you can't get in. So are we thin or are we wide? While sounding like an ogre if we receive damage? - Nice meta-game, but I barely can buy 1 weapon after 5 hours of grinding, and what for, just to have it in ONE single life, full of the same greedy randomness? - Each level is actually a pair of floors, which are not adequately indicated on the mini-map. And why's the player's position updated only in 2x2 square steps? Basically, the player is expected to draw the map of the game on their own, but who's going to do that in 2022, really. I don't believe it's so hard to at least distinguish the floor portals from the ceiling portals with different colors; - Using the number 1 to exit the level and to switch the weapon, just why. Now you have to quickly switch the weapon back, and sometimes enemies appear right next to you if you go back a level; - Sometimes the enemies walk right into you, and only than attack, thus challenging your parry reflex whose window is already too short and can't be enhanced. This has to be some meme of the Souls-like games or whatever I missed, because otherwise I have no idea why is this in the game. - There's very little incentive to backtrack - you'll be receiving about as many upgrades, as many stats you'll spend along the way, so you won't be inclined to take the risks of dying altogether. Even revisiting a shop to finally spend your useless coins would cost you health and/or mana. Yeah, you can surely go on with "see, you've played that much long, the game's good". Well, no. I'm a game developer and publisher, so I play small-scale indie games searching for the hidden gems and/or more ideas. This one IS a hidden gem, but so unpolished, I am starting to think the developer just purposefully trolls the Steam with his games. Or, he just is that way, as an author. No one can do anything about that, just play the game or don't. If anything, it feels like a survival horror, except it's not a horror and the backstory doesn't really care about you. There are many things that I actually like here, for example the grotesque architecture, the Jackie Chan movie style destroying of the battle's surroundings (even if with a cubic flavor), the criss-cross polygons oldschool aesthetic applied to the figures, the field of view configuration (who would play an anything less that the maximal one anyway?), the return of the Daemonic Runner's game mechanic, or the general choices of colors and wordings. But it is not acceptable to have the first available shop in a 3rd level's 3rd secret pathway (because it's harder to get through the usual 4th, non-secret level than to find this long route), while you let the player collect useless coins all this time, which they lose each time; or to have mana potions right from the 1st level when you don't really need them neither if you start without magic (and that's 99% of the sessions) nor if you've bought the wand after your 100th death, and so are trained enough to get through the half of the game with your first weapon. "Unfair difficulty" is how I'd formulate the verdict. If a handful of nostalgic gamers dig it, sure, why not. That's why I actually =RECOMMEND= this game. Because if you're not one of them, you'll be scrolling away just when you see the screenshots, ain't that right? Yes, it's shaky, but the effort is there, and it stands, against all odds, in the year 2022. Made all by a single person in their spare time. And, the saddest part is, it's not commercially viable on Steam, so we'll see the next game of this developer in a year 2024. At least then, I hope.

    difficulty curve is massive after the first 5 minutes. combat is fun but game is just too hard to keep playing.
