If you are anything like me and fancy some dragon-themed RPGs, then you are going to love this brand new MMOSLG titled “Call of Dragons”. After teasing us for months after months Farlight Games, who made Dislyte, in collaboration with Legou Games finally released this highly anticipated game on the 28th of March.
In this game, you have to protect your village and conquer nearby kingdoms or form an alliance with them with a powerful army of warriors and gigantic monsters by your side. Let us see what the game is all about, how to play it on your pc, and also a handy beginner’s guide to help you top the leaderboards and of course a review too.
What is Call of Dragons
The basics of Call of Dragons goes like this: create your own character, find allies, subdue dragons and ride them and finally fight enemies that go against you.
The game features a brand new combat system called “the Behemoth Combat System”. In this, players have to hunt and slay giant beasts such as dragons, hydras, etc. and then they can summon them in their PvP battles. There’s also a “Freedom to Fight” system which gives a player total control of their combat skills, warfare, and collected monsters. The world-building in this game is top-notch with various types of creatures such as forest eagles, satyrs, orcs, elves, and much more! Not only that, players also have total control of their bases. They can create anything they want, upgrade anything they like, and expand boundaries however they want.
Right now the game has over 1 million downloads. A huge feat for a game that was released only two months ago.
Call of Dragons Release Date
Call of Dragons was officially launched on 28th March 2023 and is available to download on both Android and iOS as well as Windows. You can check out their release announcement on their official blog which explains some important things about the game.
Call of Dragons Beginner’s Guide
As promised, here's your Call of Dragons beginner’s guide, more like two tips that will get you ahead of everyone in no time.
1. Picking the perfect Server: Arguably not only the first but also the most important thing to do when you start the game is to choose a server that is new so that you can gather important resources and conquer nearby kingdoms and start an alliance with them. Always pick a server that is less than a day old. And for some reason, you can't explore the current server, find your play style, and then when a new server opens, jump the ship.
2. Choosing the right civilization: Just like Rise of Kingdoms this game also has civilization. We suggest you choose the Elf as it’s great for beginners and then using the free faction change ticket switch to League of Order (Human) as it proves itself in PvPs and does great in early battles.
3. Join an Alliance: Just as u hit the finish button on the tutorial, find an alliance. An alliance gives you many benefits such as gifts, alliance tech, etc.
4. Second Builder: In Call of Dragons you get two build queues, one is free and the other has to be bought, either using gems or through real money. We’d suggest you do that since the simultaneous building can help you advance faster. The second build queue is for 5000 gems or for $5.
5. Daily Quests: Remember to complete your daily, weekly, and seasonal tasks. They reward you for doing things that you would have been doing regardless. You get stuff like Epic Hero Token, Artifact key, Sweetdew, etc. for doing 6 quests.
Call of Dragons Review
Now let’s get into what you are actually here for - an honest review about Call of Dragons.
At the heart of it, Call of Dragons is an MMO game, and much like every MMO game ever, you can expect a lot of combat in this game. But the main thing that sets Call of Dragons from other MMO games, is the ability to move your troops anywhere you like. This feature is lacking in most if not all MMO Android games except for maybe Rise of Kingdoms but since it's made by the same team behind Call of Dragons we can expect it.
Moving on to graphics, as mentioned earlier, they are the best you can get at the moment. It just might be one of the most visually appealing games right now. You can feel the efforts the devs put into character designing, world modeling, SFX, VFX, and more. The Call of Dragons’ map is a whopping 3.88 million sq.km big and is filled with all sorts of beautiful biomes that await to be explored. The world map, officially called Tamaris, is in 3D, which allows you to see all the intricate details like mountains and ravines as you zoom in or out.
Apart from the combat system, another thing the game excels at is city building. Firstly it's a no-brainer and anyone who has played a MMO will know how easy it is. All you have to do is build structures like scout’s huts and let them explore the map while you train your troops.
But it’s not always gold in the land of Call of Dragons. The voice acting is sub-par at best with its biggest flaw: lip-syncing. The characters never seem to be in sync which makes me prefer reading the on-screen text. For a game that put so much resources and took its time to come out, it's funny that it’s lacking in the voice department.
But let this not ruin Call of Dragons for you, everything and I really mean everything else is great in the game. From the troops to the fights to the monsters, the game really exceeded all expectations. And I think everyone should give it a try, even if you are not a fan of an MMO.
How to Play Call of Dragons on PC
Although Call of Dragons officially supports Windows you might want to play it on an emulator for better control over your game so here’s how to do it using GameLoop.
1. Download and Install GameLoop: Go to GameLoop’s official website and download the installer and run the same. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation and then launch GameLoop.
2. Install the Game: Search for “Call of Dragons” in the search bar and click on Install. GameLoop will automatically download the game as well as all the necessary resources required for the game.
3. Play the Game: Once the installation completes, launch the game and start playing it!
That’s it, with these three simple steps, you can play Call of Dragons on your PC.
