Ciri Exit the Gungeon.

Exit the Gungeon is a small, arcade-style, spin-off 'dungeon climber' that immediately follows the adventures of the misfit Gungeoneers attempting to survive a series of increasingly dangerous elevators and countless waves of enemies.

The Gungeon has become a paradox and is collapsing! Blessed by the magic of the Sorceress, your gun will change rapidly as you ascend the Gungeon. The better you play, and the higher your combo, the more powerful the form your gun will take.

Battle against the last and most bitter of the Gundead at a frantic pace, slowing down just long enough to chat with some familiar faces… and a few new ones. Shifting rooms, enemies, bosses, bizarre weapons and items all combine to ensure that no two attempts to Exit the Gungeon are the same.
Testimony from someone with nearly 200 hours on Enter the Gungeon
I know, I know. The Mixed rating on the store page seems off-putting (I was hesitant to give this a shot at first because of it), and it's mostly from peeps that expected this to be exactly like Enter the Gungeon. This is a spin-off, NOT A SEQUEL! Exit switches things up a bit, whereas Enter was a top-down dungeon crawler, Exit is a platformer, sweet and simple. Many items and guns are returning from Enter, but don't let that, among the returning cast of characters, fool you; this is a different game. And a pretty decent one too. I, personally, haven't made it out of the Gungeon yet, but I've had quite a time seeing all the nods and callbacks to the original so far. Not to mention the countless sprite updates and new gameplay mechanics. And the new bosses. And mechanics. Devolver is also planning updates for Exit to work out the kinks over time, one of which just released a day after release! A DAY AFTER! It's not Enter, but Exit is different enough to stand on its own legs. It's not perfect right now, but it's got potential. Please.. just give it a chance.

Tough one, but I'd recommend this game to anyone who's not a roguelike pro. This game is NOT Enter the Gungeon and isn't trying to be. It's a shame that it keeps getting compared to Enter because it's a very different game that doesn't hold up under that scrutiny. Many of the reviews I'm seeing are Enter fans playing <1 hour and having a valid complaint, but not playing enough to see Exit's fix for that complaint. Exit is arcade-styled, so runs are faster and involve less planning. There are no keys or active items. This is not a deep roguelike with a huge skill curve like Gungeon. It sacrifices Enter's depth in terms of skill curve, resource usage, and secret floors, for breadth. Instead, you get a combo meter, which rewards not getting hit, and a Blessed gun that constantly transforms. Getting a bad gun mid-combat and dealing with it is the fun challenge of the game. This also solves the boring early-game of Enter the Gungeon where you're slowly clearing 15 rooms with a terrible starter pistol. After 2 or 3 runs, you can switch to "Arsenal Mode", where you get a transforming gun AND can collect normal guns with ammo limits. This means you get to decide between getting more items, making you stronger, OR more consistency, where you can keep specific guns and avoid switching mid-combat. A fun, interesting, and experimental mechanic IMO. Each character also gets different rooms - for example, the Hunter's third chamber is a jetpack joyride-style side-scroller with a monster chasing her. Elevators have different mechanics and obstacles like shifting platforms, skulls raining knives on you, and buttons that move it left or right. Less depth, more breadth. Seeing reviews about how certain attacks are impossible to dodge when the reviewer has .4 hours played makes me sad. Everything seems possible with some practice/experimentation. I learned the telegraphing pretty fast and earning master rounds for beating bosses hitless is the best source of difficulty. TL;DR: pales in comparison to Enter the Gungeon but has plenty of interesting experimental mechanics. Lacks depth and difficulty but still a fun, mindless way to kill 10-30 minutes. Price point is fair normally and very fair on sale.

I loved Enter the Gungeon, and I was really excited for Exit. Unfortunately, it doesn't hold a shadow to its predecessor. There are a bunch of features I miss and bits of the game that I prefer Enter over Exit, but there is one main thing Exit the Gungeon has that makes it hard to enjoy - random guns. Having your weapon wrenched from your hand every minute or so is frustrating, and that's even when you don't end up with one of the (small) set of guns that require a totally different play-style than every other gun in the game does. --Hello To Arms-- Shortly after writing this review, Exit the Gungeon rolled out the Beta called Hello To Arms. There are a lot of great changes made in this update, including re-balancing almost all of the guns that would wreck a run's fun, and Arsenal mode, which lets you have some control over what gun you have. This is a huge improvement in most of the areas that made me dislike the original version, which is great... ... But I still can't recommend it. The updated game is much more fun than it was, but Exit is still mostly like Enter, just... less of everything. Less choice (but no longer none). Less guns (but also less bad ones). Less control. If Enter the Gungeon was a three course dinner, Exit the Gungeon feels like a cold leftover sandwich. It's not terrible, but it's neither a new experience, nor as good as the original.

This is not bad, but, nowhere near the level of Enter The Gungeon. Still diverting, but, I have close to 100 hours of Enter, and just over 10 of Exit, and not much drive to keep on playing it.

it's not a bad game, but extremely underwhelming compared to enter the gungeon, its easier to understand, which is good, but thats because its heavily simplified. the game is incredibly easy in comparison to its predecessor, and that lead to me beating the last dragun on attempt 3. at least, the gameplay is decent. the reason im not recommending this is because i suggest you buy enter the gungeon instead

"Exit the Gungeon is a small, arcade-style, spin-off 'dungeon climber' that immediately follows the adventures of the misfit Gungeoneers" - The description says it's arcade, not rogue-like, it's a spin-off, not a direct sequel, is small, not even comparable to EnterTG ammount of contents, they are 2 different games, genres and mechanics. People need to play the game knowing it's genre before saying "it's nothing like EnterTG so it's trash don't play." It's a decent arcade, the gameplay feels perfect for what it is. In my opinion a "survival" gamemode or some kind of unlimited gamemode would be a nice addition, with high stat-scaling enemies, to see how long you can go while the enemies get exponentially harder, adding a public scoreboard too, to make things more arcade-ish, even though I don't main this genre, ETG aesthethic fits pretty good.

I'm actually really sad this was such a letdown, I was really excited for Exit the Gungeon, I'm a huge fan of Enter and I was really hyped when they said a spin off/sequel was getting made. So, what first felt weird for me was the UI. Enter's UI was nice, smooth and complete. You had the ammonomicon with a shitload of guns, items and every description of them, etc. Now, everything is compact, kinda claustrophobic,. Everything is in a colorless menu, which brings me to my first point. This game has no personality. When you're in the Gungeon, everything is bland. There's at least 70% less content compared to Enter, as in enemies, items and guns. The bosses are dumb. They are just combinations or alternate versions of Enter bosses. The only boss I though was cool was the Chancelor, because the rest was either a bootleg version of a previous boss or a combo of two bosses from Enter. Like the "Medusalier" or "Eyebalrog". Or just a senseless weird character. The mechanics are what people complain the most. And for good reason, having your whole run based on RNG fucking sucks. Yes, if you're doing well, you tend to do better, but just one mistake and you're fucked. You don't feel powerful or effective on this game. Specially on the later chapters and the final boss. Getting hit is part of every game, but Exit makes the punishment even worse. The guns also lose their whole personality, because the game is a complete fuckfest, and you can't pay attention to what each gun is and what it does. The platforming is okay until you get to the later parts. You need to worry WAY too much about the scenario, which makes the game stressful as fuck. Enter didn't have that. Yes, you had enviromental hazards, but they weren't dangerous so that you needed to keep looking at it, it was much more intuitive. They also reworked dodge rolling, which is ridiculous. not only does the invicibility window feels WAY bigger, but dodge rolling is useless now that jumping exists. That results in fights like the final boss, where you're just jumping around without any care in the world. The controls are weird and sloppy, in Enter, things were tight, more skill based and required more timing. That shows a lot on the final boss, which is one of the worst boss fights I ever played. Just brainless dodging, and you never know when you can actually damage the Dragun. The "story" and NPCs also felt bland, even though it was good seeing all those people from the original game back here, it didn't feel like coming back to old friends, but just a boring version of what I had previously lived. This is Enter the Gungeon done really, really bad. If you're a Gungeon fan and expected the same masterpiece they delivered previously, don't. You'll regret it.
