  Game is decent. For the prize of like 4 euros? (on sale) I can ignore most of the negatice aspects of the game. Sometime the terrain is hard to maneuver through but except for that, 6.5/10. Had me screaming a few times in the beginning.

  Obligatory Early access warning: This game is a work in progress and the final version may be drastically different from what it is at the time of writing this review. Skinwalker hunt is sort of spiritual successor to Witch hunt. Just like that game your objective is to hunt down and kill a giant monster, which runs around the place. Which is quite unique. For a game made by one person this is really impressive. Especially all the attention to detail. For instance the reloading animations for the shotgun are really well made, it matches the rounds fired- fire one barrel, reload one round, fire both barrels, reload both rounds. Or the fact you can see fired cartridges on the ground. It might not sound as impressive, but it's way more that I would expect from an indie game. And unlike Witch hunt, it has no framerate issues to speak of, runs at solid 60 FPS with vsync on and you can uncap it if you so desire. It's also very immersive, the ambient sounds create really creepy atmosphere, especially whenever the Skinwalker shrieks from a distance. I said the game is unique, it is also very niche. This focus on a single goal, which is killing the monster might not be enough for some people. Especially when we factor in, that every encounter with it lasts only few seconds and it generally takes some time to find it again. But, that doesn't mean there is a lot of down time, there are animals for you to hunt down as well as dilapidated buildings to explore, which may hide ammo, medkits or items providing you with some passive benefits. And you'll need to do both, because otherwise you'll end up dead sooner than you think. Each map also tells a story through its environment, whenever you find a dilapidated building or a dead body you wonder what might have happened there. There are currently only 3 maps available, each with its own theme and it's likely we'll get more, but how many I cannot say. After all this game is still in Early Access. But I've been playing this game since its release and i has become much more fleshed out and the Skinwalker can be provoked into attacking you with more regularity than before. Previously your only option was kicking over Skinwalker totems, which there is a limited ammount of or randomly running into dog, which would lead you to it. But now if you get enough meat from animals, you can use it as bait, which is a very welcome change. Another welcome changes- boars aren't trying to murder you on every step and cultists are actually challenging to fight now. Deer is still a pain to deal with, because it's nearly completely silent and always manages to get several hits on you before you can turn around. Though it seems to be rarer than it used to be. Being an Early Access game means bugs, but honestly, there aren't that many. One thing I've noticed, that needs fixing is a silencer upgrade for your rifle. When you shoot at an animal and miss, it still runs at you as if it heard the gunshot. But I believe this will be adressed in a future patch. And I also saw a snake clipping through the ceiling of a trailer. Other than that nothing, at least I didn't run into anything else. So, the game is pretty polished. For game, that is still in Early Access, this is really good. Your experience is probably not going to be that different in the final version, so I have no reason not to recommend it in its current state.

  This game is definitely not for everyone - there's a pretty steep learning curve right up front, and uncomfortable middle ground where things seem unfairly random / difficult... and then there's the nice smooth end, where suddenly you realize you have everything you need to win and you might as well go shoot that monster already. But that doesn't mean it isn't fun. Exploring the handmade worlds, learning to deal with each of the enemy types, finding secret caches of items and abilities, leveling yourself up until you're big and beefy and ain't scared of no ghost... very satisfying if you're willing to be patient with it, and learn as you go. (or wimp out and read guides 😜) Dev is active on steam too, responds to bug reports and questions fairly readily. This game isn't for everyone, but I appreciate it for what it is, and I've had a blast playing through what content is already available!

  Compared to Witch Hunt this game is a bit of a step down, even though you get more maps (3), the gameplay just isn't that engaging. You hunt the Skinwalker, you get attacked by annoying critters and thats pretty much it. Perks, Upgrades and guns don't carry over to the next map which is a bummer, cause that just makes it feel like you are playing level 1 with a different skin over and over. I wanted to like this game, but Witch Hunt is just better.

  There is less horror in this game than Witch Hunt but overall the mechanics of everything are greatly improved. This would make an amazing co-op/ online game.
