  Disclaimer: Due to the fact that the DLC you can buy in store only includes the map, and the new creatures and items are part of the base game and therefore freely accessible, I won't be including those in my review. While I did enjoy playing on Scorched Earth, i found it gets a bit boring and repetitive after a while. The experience is really quite different from the "standard" ark experience (The Island, mostly, but also all of the free DLCs you can download for ark). While Ragnarok does include a desert area, and most of the free maps do have Wyverns and the other creatures, it's just not the same, this is an authentic desert experience you'll not get on any other map. The map itself is quite diverse, with oases, dunes, mountains, canyons, high plateous, scrubland, dried rivers, you get heatwaves and sandstorms during which you should go inside if you don't want to die a slow death, you also get new items to protect you from the environment but those items are accessible in the base game as well. Overall living on Scorched Earth is a constant struggle against the environment, and I appreciate the addded challenge. Especially the early game is quite challenging, with no easy access to flyers and with dangerous creatures like wolves in easy spawn zones. If you manage not to get eaten, mid-game you'll want to tame an Argentavis so you can steal your first Wyvern egg, which is the biggest challenge this DLC provides. Wyverns are fast, have dangerous elemental attacks, and they will stop at nothing if you even *look* at the egg. Stealing your first Wyvern egg is really the highlight of this DLC. Unfortunately, once you have a Wyvern, the whole map basically becomes trivial. You are now as fast as the wind and as strong as a rex, perhaps even stronger, there's not much out there that can stop you. And that is exactly my problem with this DLC. It really just gets too easy once you have a Wyvern. You can use them even against the boss in this DLC and they will absolutely devastate it, at this point I must say I found the boss less of a challenge than stealing an egg. There's also no ascension to this day, sadly, it's the only DLC map that doesn't have that which sadly makes it incomplete. It's a shame the map and the environment get quite boring after a while, after playing for longer on the map I always felt like leaving the desert and I missed the oceans and lush green on the other maps. The maps also shows its age by now, some areas look definitely unfinished and unpolished. There's not much to discover apart from the caves and due to the desert nature of the map, so in time you'll probably feel like you have seen it all. I would still rate this DLC as the second best of the paid DLCs after Aberration, despite its flaws. It's worth the money, even though I would recommend to buy it on sale nonetheless.   Why is it only in a bundle? How about don't force people to also buy trash maps they don't enjoy, and let them gift maps at the same time?
