Blockland Panimula

Blockland is a non-linear sandbox game with no set goals, giving players the freedom to design and construct elaborate structures. Styled as a tiny minifigure, players build inside of the virtual world using bricks reminiscent of toy blocks. These structures can be built in either a single-player or multiplayer (either online or through a local area network) setting.

As many others have said, this game is deader than dead. It's so dead that I honestly wonder if the only thing keeping the master server up is Badspot leaving auto-renew on PayPal turned on by accident. To make a long story short, the developer frustrated his community years ago by removing a ton of beloved maps in the v20 update to add shaders, claiming it was to support the addition of future content due to the aging engine as well as getting the game on Steam Greenlight. Afterwards, he released one more content update (adding the events system and bots which was admittedly pretty cool and game-changing), and then stopped updating the game outside of minor maintenance releases every now and then. I don't blame him for it since he kept the game updated consistently for a decade and the Torque engine is dang old with a capital O, but it's had pretty severe consequences on the state of the game. The multiplayer that was the lifeblood of this game is now dead in the water as a result. Six months ago you maybe had 70 players at peak hours, and now that's 30 or so as an optimistic estimate, spread out across a dozen servers. It's so small that you can't even scroll down on the server list anymore. Unless you like building things to yourself all the time, you're essentially paying ten dollars to walk around a series of ghost towns. I loved this game as a kid before I had it on Steam and even for 143 hours when I did get it on Steam years later. I miss this game and I cherish the memories it gave me, but at this point it's time to let Blockland fade away and give it the peaceful death it deserves. If you still want to buy this game and try it out, know what you are getting into. EDIT: Since I know people are going to try it; no, I have no interest in Brickadia. That game might even be more dead than Blockland itself. Last I checked it doesn't even have mod support despite the developers saying it would a while ago. It could've been a decent spiritual successor but going by the server list it's got...four people on one server. rofl EDIT 1 ADDENELUM: I was far too harsh on Brickadia with this initially. Yes I know it's in open alpha and you can play it, but it's still pretty barren and I would just like to wait until it gets to a more stable state. EDIT 2: Because this is something I forgot to mention. The shaders that Badspot killed the game's beloved old maps for aren't even enabled by default. It's not like there's any graphics auto-adjustment on first launch, they're just set to off by default and you would never even know they existed unless you check the game options yourself. Even on ultra settings you can catch seams in where the shadows are anyways. Totally worth killing the game's community for.

I just wish this game was more active again. I remember playing Blockland on a Windows XP machine when I was a lad back when the game had default maps like Bedroom and Kitchen. I always remember playing the demo of the game while listening to Scatman John on a Windows 7 laptop in the early 2010's. Today, it's a virtual ghost town, with occasional players showing up to play the game once in a while, but because of the developer's decision of the removal of default maps, not many people play the game anymore, he was also rather toxic to the community by unfairly banning people and dictating what mods mods could be used and was just a jerk to everyone. He was the one who wrecked the game for everyone for those reasons. I just wish the game would be back to normal. This release hasn't seen a lot of people lately. I bought this game 2 years ago just to relive it, but it's just as empty as I remember it even when I originally played the demo of the game for the very first time. I wish.... I wish this game can be restored to the way it used to be.....

The bloated, sugar-coated corpse of Roblox lost all the charm. Blockland lost all the playerbase. And yet, it holds the charm both games had in their prime.

My childhood game, I would play this game almost every day, install a ton of add-ons, explore various of fun maps and uncover their secrets, and watch a bunch of machinimas and whatnot. Now it's nothing but a husk, a bore of a game with no desires and interest from the devs with only the community continuing the legacy with their own spinoff.

A long-decayed corpse of a bygone era. Still fun to poke it every once in a while

I have been playing this since 2006 before I got Steam version and its always fun to go back and play more of it. Very underrated indie game with blocks that allows you to build anything you could want. Lots of freedom to make anything you want with its robust Add-on system that allows you to literally create anything you want. Want to go on an adventure? Battle other players? Just casually building? Its the type of game where you just do whatever you want and make your own fun.

My mother always said that blocks were good, so she gracefully allowed me to play this game on her steam account. During that period I was briefly afflicted with the ability to unwillingly tune into the wavelength that walls spoke in and it made my life living hell, I HAD to look at something that wasn't a wall or my blood pressure would rise and boil. Gaming was my outlet during these months. I had to play with my headphones on at loudest volume just to block out the noise. My mother told me to just leave the house and play outside since I wouldn't be in such close proximity to any walls, I told her that she just didn't get it. Being able to play this game now reminded me of how strong I was.
