Train Simulator: EWS Class 92 Loco Add-On Panimula

The dual voltage Class 92 electric locomotive is now available for Train Simulator in the privatised livery of English, Welsh & Scottish Railway (EWS) livery.

The Class was built by a consortium of Brush Traction and ABB Traction between 1993 and 1996 with the intention of running services through the Channel Tunnel between Britain and France. All locomotives were fitted with dual voltage operation to allow operation on either third rail 750v DC or overhead 25kV AC power, with most electrical systems duplicated to reduce the possibility of locomotive failure in the Channel Tunnel.

In total, 46 locomotives were built in the Class and shared a body shell with the Class 60, albeit with a modified front end. The locomotive was fitted with both rheostatic and regenerative braking, in addition to standard Westinghouse air brake equipment, and an electrical train bus was fitted to enable two locomotives to work in multiple formation, either double-heading or in push-pull formation with a Driving Van Trailer (DVT).

Post privatisation, the fleet was split between EWS, European Passenger Services, Eurostar (UK) and SNCF; the six locomotives retained by Eurostar were initially earmarked to head sleeper services through the Channel Tunnel, but this project was quickly abandoned.

The BR Class 92 for Train Simulator is available in former BR Railfreight grey livery with EWS overlay stickers to replicate the locomotive as it looked under EWS ownership. The locomotive features functioning dual voltage operation, vacuum circuit breaker to isolate power supply, PBL brake, variable wiper speed, pantograph up/down control, power mode selector and AWS. Also included are loaded and unloaded Megafret container wagons.

The locomotive is also Quick Drive compatible, giving you the freedom to drive the EWS Class 92 on any Quick Drive enabled route for Train Simulator, such as those available through Steam. Also included are scenarios specifically for the West Coast Main Line North route (available separately and required to play these scenarios).

Scenarios

Three scenarios for the West Coast Main Line North route:

  • Simple and Expert Controls Tutorial: Class 92

  • Express Freight

  • Electric Troubles

More scenarios are available on Steam Workshop online and in-game. Train Simulator’s Steam Workshop scenarios are free and easy to download, adding many more hours of exciting gameplay. With scenarios being added daily, why don’t you check it out now!

this loco is terrible and there should no surprise there as DTG don't care about what they make and doesn't care how good or bad the sounds are the physics are terrible doesn't feel like i have an loco behind even with an dead loco when double heading no instruction on the tutorial scenario about you have to close the VCB to even get the loco moving it really is an massive disappointment for me and another i can not recommend to the public mainly of how terrible the loco is sound and physics and dull texturing. the only good part about the class 92 is the modelling yet another loco im goner have to get the AP Sound Pack to even make it drivable do not get this loco please it is not worth your time or money and not worth £12 at all only get this addon if you need this loco for scenarios and reskins are brand new to TS a kid or someone who doesn't care about the sounds and physics of locos and units are goner drive on an regular basis and get the AP Sound pack in the future

A great addon that is fantastic for freight, powerful and pretty enjoyable to drive. However the sounds are not from the Class 92 on here, would recommend installing Armstrong Powerhouse' Class 92 to give this loco its full potential.

Very nice loco. It features an adjustable speed limiter which is not mentioned in the description. I don't care much about Quick Drive and Free Roam modes so I can't really tell how well they work. I mostly do scenarios and I only wish this addon had more of them.

This is amazing. I can't say what it is without the Sound pack by Armstrong powerhouse. Oddly, it was refunded without my consent, but still. Worth the £12.

The Class 92 is like having a really hot girlfriend that also annoys that hell out of you - shes beautiful but you just hate her at the same time. The Class 92 (especially with the ArmstrongPowerHouse Sound Pack) is a bastard to drive. The controls are tempremental; the breaking system awkward; and the the multible random alarms to keep you on your toes bloody irritating. Don't press that button in time? You come to a screeching holt - day over. But i can't stop driving it; i love the thing. 10/10 to all selfharmers....
