About the Game

This DLC is only available to purchase in the USA.

The EMD GP9 is a great road switcher which can find a home on any of your US routes in Train Simulator.

Built by the General Motors Electro-Motive Division (EMD) between 1954 and 1959, these 1,750-horsepower diesel-electric locomotives were put to use across the whole of the United States, Canada, Mexico and South America. More than 3,400 examples were built, making the 4-axle ‘Geep’ one of the best-selling US locomotives of all time. A number of GP9s remain in service today on short lines and industrial facilities, and as switchers for the major railroads, though they can be difficult to spot as they have mostly been extensively rebuilt. This versatile locomotive is a great Train Simulator add-on for US railfans, whether you are switching or hauling on the mainline.

Includes the EMD GP9 in the following liveries:

  • Union Pacific

  • Burlington Northern

  • BNSF Heritage

  • Canadian National

  • Santa Fe (2 variants)

  • Milwaukee Road

  • Rock Island

  • Southern

  • Chicago North

  • Western

  • Rio Grande

  • Western Pacific

  • Southern Pacific (2 variants)

  • Great Northern

The Models in this pack are good, Paints are OK, but there is a huge flaw. These Locomotives can only driven in Daylight or used as AI units. The Headlights do not project forward. After all these years nobody has bothered to fix that. What a shame.

So, I bought this pack during the sale, and I was thinking: 'well, it doens't come with any scenarios for any routes I own. Oh, well, I might as well get it to say I have it.' Well, I went to the steam workshop, and there are many free scenarios for this engine. As for the pack itself: two words- pretty cool Pros: Really nice assortment of paint schemes, so that this unit will feel at home on any route! Nice cab , with realistic controls and setup. Lots of different configuration depending on what paint scheme is applied (various objects such as bell placement, dynamic brake "fins", lights, and winterization boxes on some of the cooling fans. Cons: The engine sounds themselves are directly aliased to the Default EMD F7, which is slightly dissapointing. But, needless to say, this can be changed relatively easily, so this doesn't really take away from the engine itself. (Yes, I know both the GP9 and the F7 had EMD 567 prime movers, so the engines would sound slightly similar. But I am talking about things like horns, bells, brake and cab sounds.) To the question of whether or not I would recommend this pack: THAT WOULD BE A BIG FAT YES! Thumbs up! -Tra1nnut Owner of JHM Studios (group name: TMMAR Studios)

The GP9 pack is truly a pack to get with the game. It comes with a Variaty of 21 locos in different liveries. This is an amazing pack, but there are some things i wish could be included. I wish that there were at least 3 different freight cars per locomotive, a new horn, and more scenarios to come with the engines. Despite this, its still a nice pack to buy.

This is a great pack! Loads of differnt roadnames with one of the most classic and loved locos ever equals awesome! The only thing that could make this better would be freight cars!

This is a great pack to get for those who like older railroading scenes. Pros - 15 different paint schemes - road-specific details, such as horn, bell, and dynamic brake grids - nice cabs Cons - Same horn and bell on all units-but it's a nice horn, so... Overall, get it if you like early EMDs, and as usual, get it on a sale if you can, but it's worth it without one My favorites are the Rock Island and SP Silver ones :) Comments are enabled. This a must have for Train Simmers, any time and anywhere. This model is quite old now, but it's still being used to some extent, and it actually isn't that bad for it's age. The horn being the same on all the units, I can forgive that. That doesn't really bother me. The M3/M5 was a pretty common horn on F-units and early Geeps in the 1950s. It's not appropriate for every roadname, but appropriate for most. And if there's any roadnames that you want but don't see here, go check out Railworks America. They've done reskins for other roadnames that weren't included in this pack, like Grand Trunk Western and Illinois Central. Literally my only gripe is that the number font on the CNW unit is too big, and that's just a personal, rivet counting issue. Yes, I absolutely recommend this! There's something for everybody in this pack.
