  I really wish I could recommend this game, really. But it has been 3 years and almost no content was delivered, only small updates. Even when those happen, It's usually around every 6 months or so. Graphics are nice. Soundtrack is good. Gameplay is fun, simple, but effective. Has no notion of balance though. Lacks levels, severely, you can play all of them in 30 minutes or so. Has a few bugs, usually related to clipping around the map, but nothing too severe. Overall, it's a fun experience, but the lack of content and the time between updates makes me regret buying the game, I tought it was a good investment back then because of the amount of people talking about it, and I had some fun. But if you watch a video from 2018 and one from today, the game will be about the same. Good game, good ideas, great potential but lacks development.

  I played this game a lot and it had (has) so much potential. It would be an action slomo game with great physics and "Over the top" movie elements. It was great. Just small levels where you shoot the bad guys. Dive around corners, dualwield M60's , kick rockets out of the air and more. Then the game got help from New Blood Interactive. They saw the same potential in this game and we got an amazing soundtrack with even better levels. However the dev wanted a different direction. Objective-based gameplay. Maybe that sounds not too bad, but the game is not made for it at all. New Blood also saw this as a problem and they left the game after some conflict. The game now is just a shadow of what it used to be. I cannot recommend this game. The soul that it had, is gone. The game is a mess and it doesn't know what it wants to be. The gameplay has only been degrading. Even with the new map editor, the game hasn't improved. It doesn't seem like this game will ever reach its full potential and it will probably stay forever in early access limbo. I hope that I am wrong in the future.

  For the people looking for a quick summary, Maximum Action is essentially Max Payne in Half Life's engine with Hotline Miami's aesthetic. The satisfaction of its gameplay is indescribable and includes levels that pay homage to some of the greatest action films in cinema history. Overall, an awesome game that will hopefully gain more levels and the attention it deserves. I would personally like to see levels inspired by Indiana Jones, Terminator, John Wick, Miami Vice, Scarface and Die Hard.

  It's fun, but could use a lot more content and optimization. Seriously, give this a shot. (Be sure to run it at at least medium settings, maximum graphics is extremely un-optimized.)

  It's admittedly fun at times when you get the hang of the Max Payne style controls and wreak havoc on enemies and the environment, but there's too much wrong with Maximum Action to recommend it. It's been in Early Access for four years and it's a safe bet it'll forever be in Early Access hell based on how incredibly rough it still feels and how unbelievably buggy and poorly optimised it is. I question the progress being made on the game as, as just one example, there is an almost year old developer comment on another review stating that the objectives would be removed from the misguided Jungle level and it still hasn't been done. The game feels more like a tech demo than anything else, and the asking price is insane--it should be a couple of dollars at most based on what it has to offer.
