Sniper elite series is a nice third person sniping game for sure and this remaster is good, But time play is extremely short

This game doesn't need to exist. The original got the job done and this "remaster" doesn't bring anything interesting to the table. Well it does have photo mode, yay... Actually this isn't even a remaster it's just a texture pack essentially and... it isn't even a good one. The only noticeable difference is that Karl mostly looks better, not including his hair and eyelids which actually look worse. Also for some odd reason they have taken out the swastikas. I guess they didn't realise that the game takes place during WW2 in Berlin the capital of nazi germany, but oh well. There are some bugs that weren't present in the original, like enemies glitched inside objects and levels not proceeding properly causing me to restart the level. These are pretty minor annoyances but I decided to mention them since they weren't present in the original and this is supposed to be "remaster". But the most scrotum grinding part of this game is the Sniper elite difficulty, more precisely a part of it. Mostly I like this difficulty, enemies are trying to flush you out with nades more often, they rush you more and give the pushing enemies covering fire and most importantly you have to calculate yourself where your bullet is going to land. But the dung that this difficulty has is the pinpoint accuracy of your enemies, especially the snipers. Snipers are basically Clint Eastwood with an aimbot. This is one of the worst and lazy ways to make the game more difficult. It demolishes the other ways great hard mode, not including the massive damage that your enemies deal to you, which I can live with. Maybe if they would make a remaster they would address this some way, oh wait... Overall this is a really lazy remaster *cough* texture pack *cough* that adds nothing remotely interesting to the original. And the fact that they charge 34,99 euros for this is laughable. If you own the original (its 9,99 if you own the og but still not worth it) just stick with it you aren't missing anything. If you don't own the original you can probably find it from somewhere else. If not then just buy the 3rd one, it has lots of more content and it's more refined.

+ You get the original V2 included with this remastered version - The remastered version is basically the same as the original V2 As a standalone upgrade, this is not worth it in the slightest and is another damning testament to the devaluing of the remaster concept. This re-release was conceived just to sell the game again on the newer consoles (PS4/XB1) which makes more sense than this seemingly pointless upgraded version for PC. Even maxed out, it basically looks the same, or similar to how a free texture pack mod would look. Also newcomers to either version should be warned that the game works significantly better with a controller - mouse and keyboard is far too janky and animations look very twitchy and erratic even with dramatically lowered sensitivity. In all fairness it's not bad getting both games especially in a deep sale but there really is no reason to play both - the original is perfectly fine and the remaster does very little to justify its existence.

I must admit, I saw in th store but ignored this game for many years because of I really didn't like the sneaky, hiding, camper behavior in other FPS/TPS games. BUT I thought I give it a chance, and it was worth absolutely, this game changed my opinion about snipers. First of all: as I've never played the original version of this game before so I can't compare this game to that. Actually I LIKED this game, because it had: + nice war atmosphere, + accurately copied, period 'old-timer' weapons, + great sound effects from the explosions to the re-loadings, + slow-motion kill-camera with the explosion visual effects, + some new ideas, eg. the remote detonator killing, trip-mines, + varied and the historical locations, + co-operative mode sessions, + a lot of achievements, they are various and sometimes force you stealth combat. What I did NOT like this gameE: - the most disappointing thing: it's RANDOM which enviromental objects you can use as COVER, - the cutscenes were always played with the same character you've choosen any other in vain, - a few ridiculous achievements: 'Pass The Buck', 'Fingered', 'Target Führer'. Actually you can, t perform them directly, you get them after some tries if you have luck, if you haven, t you will hate them. - the two collector cheevos were boring and annoying after a while, - the 'Sniper Elite' difficulty is much harder than the 'Marksman', in fact it wants to be too realistic so it's incredible hard, unenjoyable. I must mention the MULTIPLAYER: this game mode is 'dead'. But I think it's a natural and obvious thing in the case of a few years old game. So if you are an achievement hunter you have to find a partner in Steam discussions. Me had luck, I found one in no time. :) So I just want to say with it that it's easy enough. My SUMMARY bases are above: It's a special type and enjoyable game, that's why still a deservedly popular game, a few years later it's released. So it's worth buying, especially if it's on sale. I will play the next games in the serie just later, but I'm sure they'll give the same experience, or even better.

Sniper Elite V2 Remastered Review

Factors

Rating

Description

🎮Gameplay 7 The sniping part of the game is surely amazing, but everything else feels unfinished.
📷Graphics 8 Decent quality, however, visuals are a bit outdated keeping in mind it’s a remaster.
🎧Narration/Audio 5.5 Soundtracks play very rarely and are not pleasing to hear, other than that it’s just random gunshots.
😮Variety 8 Objective is pretty much the same, but each level is different.
🎰Re-playability 2.5 Only for the co-op mode.
💲Price 6 Wait for a sale.

🎮Introduction and Storyline:

If you are here, chances are you are seeking for a stealth based sniping game, since quite frequently, stealth comes free in a sniper game. But that’s not simply the case here; what you’ll discover is a blend of really bad rifle mechanics paired with a terrific close-range sniping experience. Sniper Elite series is highly recognized for its stealth centered gameplay and Hitman type experience, set in the World War era. But this part is the sole exception. Stealth is almost impossible in this game unless you are playing on the easiest difficulty. The game follows a World War 2 scenario, particularly, the Battle of Berlin. You play as an American OSS officer who has been assigned a duty to assassinate a group of scientists engaged in the construction of a German rocket program before the Red Army captures them. So, it’s not like you are instructing your comrades to invade a specific spot to capture someone. You are a solitary American in the center of combat where the Red Army is striving to conquer the heart of Germany. So it’s evident you have to do all the work by yourself by really penetrating strongly guarded sites. That’s what separates the franchise from other sniper games, the intense gameplay.

🎮Gameplay:

Overall gameplay is enjoyable, owing to the inclusion of a gratifying kill-cam. As my bullets pierced the enemies' eyes and shattered their skulls, I was certainly feeling quite at ease. The Sniper Elite series never fails to deliver a realistic sniper experience. The game has three levels of difficulty: Cadet, Marksman, and Sniper Elite. However, the description "a realistic sniping experience" is not applicable on the lowest and second hardest difficulties. The sole explanation is because the game guides you to take every shot in the Cadet and Marksman levels, neglecting every factor a genuine sniper must consider, such as wind movement, adversary distance, and height. However, this is not the case with the Sniper Elite difficulty. Now that’s some realism; you must take care of all the factors on your own and correctly predict where the bullet will land. The sniping part of the game is enjoyable, but the developers have attempted to add a little more. In addition to your primary sniper rifle, you may always carry sidearms and SMGs. However, they rather botched the implementation of these features into the game. They really serve no use, except for the sole silent weapon (a pistol). Even though it has the worst accuracy, it is effective for discreetly killing numerous enemies at once. I’d only suggest playing it as a sniper game and disregarding the other mechanics they have included to improve the experience. AI behavior is another feature that could make the gaming more immersive. However, the game takes a major L here. The AI is very foolish yet smart at the same time. Stupid, because they act exceedingly strangely in a gunfight, and frequently disregard gunfire. Smart? BECAUSE THEY CAN SEE YOU FROM MILES AWAY. It doesn’t matter if you are 400 meters away, if you miss a shot, the entire army is going know exactly where you are and spam and kill you with a fricking machinegun. The only difference I witnessed in AI when you alter the difficulty, is the amount of damage you take. They still act really bizarre and unusual. Other than the AI, I don’t really have any problems with the general gameplay. It’s satisfying and exciting to play, as long as the enemies behave appropriately. Level design: The levels are entirely linear, and there are only a few methods to accomplish a given objective. So you're following a script; if you're going to kill someone, there's just one way to do it. The game does give you the freedom to roam freely and explore a few areas of the level, but you will often reach a dead end. This game's linear gameplay may be entertaining for certain players, but if you want complete freedom to do almost anything, you may not like it. Since the game does an excellent job of illustrating a war-torn atmosphere and concealing snipers all over the map, I don't have many qualms about the linear layout. Multiplayer and Co-op: Since no one is playing anymore, the multiplayer is effectively nonexistent. So there's no point in discussing it further. Surprisingly, the game offers a co-op mode that allows you to play the campaign with a friend. If you have a friend to play with, I’d surely recommend playing it!

📷Visuals and Audio:

It still looks great, despite the low level of detail in the textures. Because it's a 2019 remake, I was expecting better graphics, but the explosion effects and fluid movements make up for it. There are a lot of random flames, demolished buildings, gunfire, and of course debris all over the area to keep you feeling like you're locked in a battlefield the whole game. Despite the fact that the textures aren't very finely detailed, I believe most gamers will still find the game to be visually appealing. Sound plays an important role since it decides how much you’re gonna enjoy the game. Mostly, it’s just random gunfire and other noises that assist to create the atmosphere of World War II. And any other sound that you may call a soundtrack, wasn’t really helping much. They were simply random soundtracks thrown in to amp up the tension during the gunfights, and I didn't like for them at all. I'm quite sure I would have appreciated it just as much if the soundtracks hadn't been included.

📝Main Pros and Cons:

Pros- <*>Realistic sniping experience. <*>Gameplay is fun, but it does have many flaws. <*>X-ray type animation that enhances the gameplay by a lot. <*>War-torn environment is displayed in an amazing manner. <*>Story is decent, though, it does have some cliché moments. <*>Co-op mode available. Cons- <*>Awful close-combat, only worth using the sniper and the silenced pistol. <*>AI behavior is pretty weird. <*>Dead multiplayer. <*>Linear level design.

🏷️Tips to new players:

If you want to play the game without the bullet guide but enemies are too overpowered on the Sniper Elite difficulty, you can start it in a Custom difficulty where you can select enemy skill and ballistic realism level separately. So, do use this feature and select whatever you think is appropriate.

😇Honest Rating:

The review is written by looking at Sniper Elite v2 Remastered as a standalone game and not a comparison with the original game. If you are someone who has previously played the original, it’s just not worth getting the remaster since it merely has nicer textures. But if you haven’t, then the remaster is something you would undoubtedly love. Sure, it does have numerous flaws, but it still provides what the series is all about- a realistic sniping experience. Get it on a sale. Rating: 6.5/10

Rather simple remaster with slightly better visuals and performance than the original. Treat it more like updated game from 2012 rather than something made in 2019. It is not a bad game, rather simple compared to later titles but it is still fun. I recommend waiting for sale, it is not worth £30.

I feel scammed. There is nothing 'remastered' in this remaster. It's just Original SEv2 with 4 additional singleplayer DLC missions. Nothing has been fixed or improved.

An arcady, casual type of stealth action game. You are a sniper, you kill nazis that's about there is to it. One of the coolest features and the first sniper elite game to introduce is the x ray sniper kill. It really never gets old. But overall it's a very casual sniper game, mostly stealthy game but sometimes you have to be pulled into the enemy fire. There's not really that much of a story, and the DLC extra missions offer some unique challenges for you if you crave for more, since the main story is actually short. So overall I finished both the story and all the challenge missions in 8 hours. Is it worth 35$? Hell no, this is way too much, not to mention this is a remaster of an already existing game that came out in 2012, there really is no reason to price it that large, though Rebellion is a greedy company, so there is that. My advice is wait for an off sale. 10$-15$ is okay, I actually got this from a humble bundle with the first 4 sniper elite games so if you get a deal like that, go for it.

The Good

-Overall good level design. -Really like that they kept the first game OST, nostalgia. -The Xrays is a good addition to the game. -Good weapon detail. -The ability to tag enemies with the binocs. -Fast paced gameplay. -Loved that the remade the karlshorst fuel depot as an aditional challenge mission. -The goldbar, wine and stuff you can collect are a great addition for replayability, sadly im not into that. -Additional challenge missions are pretty good.

The Bad

-Compare your rifle damage to the first game, and you basically shooting a bb gun, enemies are overall spongier. -Only 60 rounds of SMG ammo, wouldnt be a problem if the gun spread wasnt so humongous, add that to the fact that enemies are spongier as ever and its a bad combo. -The silencer pistol spread too big, some times you cant headshot and the soldier "trips" when you shoot him, alerting the entire camp. -Vehicles do not trigger landmines, saw a truck go right past the landmine i set up. -Enemy tank AI is just sad. -The enemy AI loses track of you very very fast, some times they just shoot a place they saw you last with you being next to that place. -Compared with the first game, most level designs are a shooting gallery. -Enemy snipers behave like untrained concripts, they just stand up and run from place to place, easy to kill, in the first game they would pop your knee cap while prone over a roof 1km away, they were hard to spot and hard to deal with some times. -From an inmersive perspective, theres no logical reason for a sniper to drop the sniper rifle he trained and hes used to for another one he just found, unless you run out of ammo or you lose it but thats not the case when grabbing a new rifle in this game, I get the devs point, try something new but maybe the approach could have been better or not, imo. -Dialogue feels cheesy. -No swastiskas and a lot of german flags. -No hip firing MG42 like in the first game, big loss. -If a tank has its turret turned aiming somewhere and you blow it up, the turret will not stay like that, it will reset to the front of the tank and change to a damage model, thats bad design, in the first game vehicle destruction was top notch. -Overall feels like a downgrade from the first game.

The Ugly

-No challenge, at least for me, completed the game under 5 hours.
