Apex Legends vs Apex Legends Mobile - What’s The Difference?
2022-04-06
It’s been over a year since EA announced the development of a mobile version of Apex Legends is well underway and now after a full year, they have started the pre-register phase for the android platform. Apex Legends players have been waiting for a long time to play their favorite multiplayer fps title on mobile and it seems their wishes have finally been answered!
The Pre-Register phase is well underway and so far over 8 million players have already pre-registered for the game. And that’s only the android players, the IOS users will have to wait a little for their turn, which is expected to come soon.
Now you might be expecting Apex Legends Mobile to be cross-platform but unfortunately, that’s not the case and according to what we know so far, Apex Legends Mobile would a separate game for ONLY mobile users with a ton of mobile-exclusive content. This definitely begs the question, how different Apex Legends Mobile really is from Apex Legends pc version of the game?
Gameplay
Considering that there’s a big difference between PC and mobile, we can already expect a significant amount of changes between the two versions of the game. First and foremost, the gameplay for the mobile version of the game has been optimized to run smoothly on mid-end devices.
Not all the legends in the PC version of the game are available out-of-the-box which makes sense since it would have a big impact on the size of the game with all the skins, animations, abilities, and so on. The other important and exciting change between the two versions is the new mobile-exclusive limited-time modes.
Other than that most of the gameplay features in the mobile version are quite similar to the original pc version with little no change at all. Looting, for instance, is quite similar to the original version except it’s easier for mobile players, all you have to do is just hit a single button and your legend would pick all the necessary items for you.
There are also many other small changes made to the gameplay of Apex Legends Mobile to make it a little easier, especially some of the controls which we are going to talk about next.
Controls
Of course, since it’s a mobile game, the controls are very different and also much more convenient and easier for mobile gamers. These include extra buttons and features for stuff like shooting, picking up loot, targetting enemies, and even moving.
For instance, targeting an enemy in Apex Legends mobile is much easier with the aim-assist option. We have seen game developers use aim-assist in many shooting games even for Xbox, to make aiming a little easier but aim-assist in Apex Legends Mobile seems to be over-performing, which I think will get fixed in the the future.
Graphics
There’s quite a change in quality from Apex Legends pc version of the game and that is quite understandable since mobile devices are much less powerful compared to pc or consoles. So the players who have played the pc version are bound to see a lot of differences between the graphics quality of both versions.
The maps are mostly the same, as EA wants the mobile version to stay loyal to the original game. But we might see some new mobile-exclusive maps as well. And while we are talking about Graphics, there’s a huge difference in UI, the selection screen, for instance, is different than the pc version. You get this nice little feature to request a legend from the person who has already picked the legend you wanted to pick.
The in-game store where you buy legend skins and other cosmetics also looks very different from the pc version. All of the legends in the mobile version are listed in the store with the cosmetic items, which is odd but it might change in the future.
In-Game Chat
This might not be the most important change in the game but it is still very useful and handy at times. In Apex Legends pc, we don’t have friends chat option, which is kinda annoying since you can’t talk to your friends unless you are at their party. This feature is very common in other games such as PUBG, where you can just ask your friends if they are up for a match or not.
However, unlike the Apex Legends pc, you do have friends chat option in the mobile version of the game, which is great! It also seems to have a global chat option, which is not very great since globals chats are mostly just players spamming over random things.
These are a few of the many differences between Apex Legends and Apex Legends Mobile. And we are bound to see more as the game introduces more content in the future.
