    This is not a simulator at all. Physics (beside the bethesda style clipping) is awful, no momentum, no inertia, maps are boring as hell. Especially coupled with lack of real physics. I feel sorry for money spent on this game and don't recommend it to anyone.

    Love it! Wish there was a map where the train went in a straight line longer though. Maybe make the map from Nurk FPVs infamous Flight of the Year vid? ;) Lots going on where he flew in that infamous video! I would start crying if you kept making more famous FPV maps ngl. The most recent one is epic.

    AiDrone is what you get when you merge a smart idea with a bloated, unfinished sim. The idea to use black box logs to import the same feel of your own quad is smart and impressive. Unfortunately, the lack of realistic physics, inclusion of annoying visual choices like constantly changing camera exposure, and absolutely no multiplayer makes this sim seem as if it is years from becoming a final product. AiDrone would benefit from removing the visual elements that distract from actually flying (which is the reason why people buy sims). They would do well to tweak the physics to get a realistic feel of inertia and a better feel of gravity when flying at higher speeds. Add multiplayer and settings that correspond with Betaflight 4.3 and this might be a sim worth buying. For now, I would stick with one of the other popular sims that have perfected flight physics, gameplay, and multiplayer.

    I had a lot of fun in the train yard! However, there is one extremely annoying bug! If you touch a wall, the quad goes bananas and you have to take your hands off the sticks and press R to reset. Disregarding this bug, if there were more maps and quads it could almost beat Liftoff. The races are not very well implemented.

    It's a work in progress. I'm not totally negative on the sim. But at this point the feel is... off, compared to other sims. It's way off compared to goggles and an analog VTX. It's lofty. It flies ... straight. It's almost as if there are no I, D , inertia, lift or part drag terms in the calculation. I can't put my finger on it exactly. But compared to flying for real, it just doesn't feel "right".

    New map, Lost Bando, this is the most amazing bando map that I have ever flown. I play just about every FPV simulator out there, daily(not kidding). Not a single one has ever "NAILED" what a bando map should be like, until now. I'm not a huge fan of the other maps in AI Simulator, quite frankly, I think that they are horrible, but this map, I will be flying it daily. Keep up the great work AI crew

    AI Drone Simulator literally rips off Liftoff's head and 5hits down its throat. It has an unfortunate acronym (AIDS, lol) but is set apart from other FPV sims by miles: * Import your own Unreal engine 4 complete maps. * Built in map editor can import 3D objects and textures. * Import blackbox data from your FPV quad to replicate the performance, finetunable * Unreal engine 4 gives good FPS rates without drops and spikes during turning I have 280hrs on Liftoff at time of writing this review for AIDS, and can fly within ms of the record times on a couple handfuls of maps, place top 10 or 20 (best was top 5) in the pro league comps when I enter, or even set the absolute records on some maps that I've practised enough, so I feel pretty well qualified to compare these two sims. As an average drone sim esports enjoyer I will break down what's so totally broken about sims implemented in Unity: Poor performance meaning they have a low skill ceiling, and are not worth your time to grind because the engine cannot keep up with skilled human input. In Unity the faster you move in the slower it performs. It's not just optimised for fast movement, it will load LOD models _AFTER_ you pass the objects even though they aren't required anymore. The only way around it is to disable LOD (which Velocidrone does).. Which then is left with very ugly maps, or to use very FEW detail models (5 tree only per map - FPV Freerider), or do like liftoff and a plugin like 'Simple Trees' from the asset store which has 3 LOD models that are never loaded until you pass them and then only slow the game down while the ones in front of you spin on the spot with ugly 2d only billboards. The faster you move in Unity the worse this gets and the Unity makes it impossible for the developers to fix it. Liftoff/DRL/Velocidrone/Freerider (Unity) can't compete with AIDS (Unreal) in world scale and performance due to _Unity_ being completely unsuitable for flight sims let alone esports. The performance issues in Unity are made worse by turning sharply / quickly at high speed and doing so will drop fps by 3/4 (ie 700fps down to 200fps) on small maps with zero detail (developer textures and 10 objects - gates only), and on large maps with lots of scenery Unity runs like shit (150fps, and down to 50fps while turning) This is on a Ryzen 9 7950x with rx6700xt at 2k res with the lowest detail settings!! Unity is multi-threaded and does not load objects fast enough for you too see them on top of the map data before you hit it. Flying in Liftoff at competition speeds is flying blind with 2D billboards of trees (simple trees) and the rest is invisible till you hit at 300km/h. There will be sharp performance drops as you speed up and as you turn (change direction.) I don't get why Lugis / Liftoff have insisted on using Unity as marketing it as an esport game. Pure ignorance. I would not invest your time on a Unity engine FPV drone sim for esport except Velocidrone and it is VERY DATED graphically at this point. OK, that's out of the way, so what does AIDS -being on unreal engine- bring to the table? A massive performance boost, better graphics and large maps. On a Ryzen 9 7950 and rx6700xt easily gets 150-200fps at 4K res even on largest maps .. and this is CONSTANT FPS which does not drop at speed or when rotating, the scenery is way more visible at extreme range and the trees LOD / collision detection is miles ahead of Liftoff or Velocidrone. Unreal is just a way way better engine for a FPV / esport sim. So then how does it fly? Out of the box it feels different to Liftoff or Velocidrone, perhaps more realistic and less esporty, depending on your take of how a 'simulator drone designed to win esports' should fly. But then it exposes all options needed to tweak the physics yourself and you can make it fly like your quad in those games if you want. I'm not sure that's the best idea for real skills though since people get used to floaty fast light sim quads for esports only and it will not reflect your real skill with a physical quad, but still better than nothing. If you still want AIDS default 'cheap 5' profile to fly like a Liftoff esports build then reduce the drag (25% vert, horiz, and sideways), decrease the weight (50%) and increase power (125% all, 150% peak 60deg 120fov) / (150% all 200% peak 80deg 122fov). The "cheap 5" prebuilt profile in AIDS will then fly a lot like what is used in Liftoff for competitions (Up Up and Away build.) Which might be good if you just want to do the esports competitions in AIDS. However I think the best way to play this game is to take your existing quad, download the betaflight blackbox log, import it into a new profile, and then tweak it to fly like the real quad so that you actually stand a chance at getting better at _real_ flying. There's 5 or so pre-made quad profiles made from betaflight blackbox logs in the game for people without gear to create one themselves, including a couple 5", 5.5", 6" and a tiny whoop that flies so much better than liftoff micro-drones its not funny. The best part is you can create both your own maps and add your own drones with the performance characteristics that you define, so you could add a toothpick or other genres of quad. It's already obvious this is the future of drone sims, though there's a few things needed yet make it better: * The constantly changing camera exposure is bad for eyes, not nice to look at. On a HDR monitor it's SHITE. I like the idea of it and for cinematic flight its fine, but it needs to be disabled for freestyle / racing. * Flying inside moving objects (railway cars) should have the air mass travel with the object (relative motion) Currently its same as flying as if wind is travelling though it.. Would be nice if trains / aircraft / vehicles created disturbances in the air around and following them. * A Linux native binary would be great, though it runs well on Linux using Proton and supports using a Taranis QX7 radio via USB. I assume other radios will work fine as well. * A few more maps wouldn't hurt - though the included 10 or so are pretty good. * Multiplayer. This is required to encourage people to add maps and fly them! There is a sort of multiplayer at the moment in the form of leaderboards, but the option to view them should be more accessible (its hidden till after a race).. What's really needed are lobbies since people like to fly together. * An included profile that mimics Velocidrone / Liftoff for the user to select without having to modify existing ones .. I couldn't decide myself if the physics were right out of the box because no drift and being used to sim only drones. Until I did: Edit the default 5" profile you loaded and change friction sideways / horiz vert / to 25%, then edit the drone power to 125%-150% all 150%-200% full ... change your uptilt to 60-80deg depending on preference.. maybe reduce the weight up to 50% .. Then it will fly like liftoff / velocidrone. Basically just changing the all the drag modifiers to 15-20% will make it really slippery feeling like Velocidrone and 25-30% is more like Liftoff.. The drone will carry momentum then without throttle and slide sideways constantly until you pull it with throttle into the corners.
