Bionic Commando Возможности

The first true sequel to the classic 1988 Nintendo Entertainment System original, Bionic Commando sees the return of the bionically-enhanced Nathan "R.A.D." Spencer. Time has not been kind to Spencer: Five years after his heroic defeat of the Imperials, he has been betrayed by the government he swore to serve, imprisoned for crimes he didn't commit, and sentenced to death.

On the very day of Spencer's execution, terrorists detonate a massive experimental weapon in Ascension City, unleashing an intense earthquake that has turned the city into rubble and wiped out its population. With the terrain in ruins and the city's air defense grid now in the control of a massive terrorist force whose goal remains unclear, the FSA have only one option left - a behind-the-lines assault.

It's the perfect job for a Bionic Commando.

Bionic Commando transposes the much loved swing-and-shoot gameplay of the 8-bit original onto a stunning 3D environment of towering buildings, suspended roadways and monorails, deep canyons and sheer rock faces, which are traversed using swinging, scaling, climbing and wall-walking techniques.

Key Features:

  • Use the bionic arm to swing between towering skyscrapers at breathtaking speed, hook onto distant objects, zip up on hanging girders and choose your own route through the game

  • Gameplay that moves through horizontal and vertical environments - a 3D game that truly uses all three dimensions. Full multiplayer mode with rich stat-tracking to check whether you're a true commando or a lowly private

  • Use the power of the bionic arm - and of next-gen physics - to realistically throw massive objects, pummel opponents, whip enemies into the air, or pull the landscape apart

  • Arm yourself with a variety of weapons worthy of a Bionic Commando

  • Starring Mike Patton, the former lead singer of Faith No More as the voice of Nathan Spencer

  • Developed by Swedish studio GRIN, developers of the highly acclaimed Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter series for PC
Bionic Commando takes advantage of the Steam Cloud by storing your save games in the cloud. Simply pick up where you left off when you log into your Steam account on any PC.

Players who own both Bionic Commando and Bionic Commando Rearmed will enjoy access to three unlockables in Bionic Commando, including the "Retro" Nathan "R.A.D." Spencer skin, a Prototype Weapon and a secret room in the Fissure level.

It's actually fun. Just don't have a high expectation and you'll have a good time.

This is a really underrated and underappreciated game. In my opinion it's one of the best games of the last generation. If you can look away from the somewhat bad acting and the fact that it-s linear and not open world like it should've been, it's an amazing game. And don't get me wrong, the game has a great story, just not well acted. I really love the bionic arm, swinging around is not like in Spider-Man, here you have to aim your swings on your own and it feels great, doing an awesome swing while shooting an enemy hearing the epic main theme in the background is something you'll never forget, it makes you feel like a badass. To anyone that wants to play this game, I recommend you play Bionic Commando Rearmed first. This is a sequel to that game after all. And if you see something called Bionic Commando Rearmed 2, get away from that disaster as fast as bionically possible. That game ruined the amazing franchise that is Bionic Commando. I also love this game because it's a swedish game, and I'm swedish. Its one of the first games I mention when someone asks what games come from Sweden. I'd rate it like 9.0 out of 10. It could've been a 10 if it was open world and had a cast that can actually act.

Underrated game.I like this more than the classic versions of it. This game deserves a remake and a sequel.

This game is an underrated gem. The controls are unique and work very fluently. Shoot your enemies. Punch your enemies. Throw cars at your enemies. Throw enemies at your enemies. Swing above your enemies and pound them to the ground. Swing around more elegantly than Tarzan. This game just gives you this rare feeling that you can do something really cool with your keyboard and mouse. It's one of my all time favorites in the action genre.

The game doesn't have enough checkpoints in certain missions which makes it frustrating to play at times. The story is abysmal but the swinging mechanics are fun. When it's on sale for really cheap, I'd say it's worth it if you want some fun mechanics to waste some time on. Overall, 4/`10.

"Is that a long health bar or are you just happy to see me?" - Nathan Spencer, the Bionic Commando Bionic Commando was a game that almost showed enough self awareness to be awesome. As fan of the original, I am happy to see it get a modern mock up. Although it was clear they changed some things (like, the ending), I was happy that the developer brought the classic back in an updated fashion and then used it for the basis of their full on modern sequel. And in this sequel, the game play is tremendously fun. The grappling hook arm left nothing to be desired. Unfortunately that is the extent of the awesome. The story is predictable, passe, and all around dumb. Simply put, it makes little sense (even with having played the original and the reloaded version of it), and, where the voice actors do a decent job with their lines, those lines are frequently so bad that they could only save it if they lampooned it. If you ignore the story, which you should since it is that bad, and take the game to simply be a long ride with a grappling hook and a variety of challenges, then this game is great. If you care anything about story, look elsewhere.

My History with Bionic commando 2009

feel free to skip to review if you dont wanna hear this I have a little backstory for this game. I was young when I bought this game originally, 360 days probably 10 to 13. Of course back then I was really terrible at games, funnily enough I actually played this on Commando when I was a kid because I thought that was the easy mode. I was swayed by the public opinion that this game was just bad or a generic third person shoot or whatever they wanted to call it. I didn't think about this game for years. That was until a few days ago where I saw somebody play it, I saw the dude jump backwards doing a cool flip then swinging. From that, I was interested but my hopes were still low for this. And coming back to this game, I have to say there is some things I agree with when it comes to the public opinion. This dialogue is distractingly terrible, specifically anything that your character says. Delivered with the dynamic of a edgy 14-year-old arguing with his mom. At the start it didn't click with me as much as I thought, I was already seeing problems. For example at the start of the game when you get the tutorial, they show you how to do every move forward. You think you get this as soon as you get the arm. That's not the case, instead they just gave you a little taste, took that away from you and told you to regain those things again. I thanks Nathan Spencer supposed to be a character with amnesia but it seems like they're depicting as a character with Alzheimer's with how they introduce the abilities. It wasn't looking great from the get-go.

    Review

But why am I giving this a thumbs up? Because this game dispite it's flaws, is secretly an underrated game that I'd even go as far as to call great. The game started to click with me when instead of trying to play this like a boring third person shooter. I tried to be badas, and although it did feel janky, at times there was moments where I felt just awesome. At the start it does feel limited but once you start getting your abilities, you really start to feel like an action hero in a way. Yes The Swinging is Jank but understanding it and trying to Master being badas is part of the fun with this game. It made the game harder for me yes but It ultimately made the game feel much more satisfying in a sense. It feels like with games they like to have a dynamic of the weak Survivor against the strong monster. That can be fine at times but there is something really special to feeling like you're equal to whoever you're fighting. It's a fight where anything could go down.

    Realization

As much as I was praising it before, I was still having trouble getting into it. I did like the game but I was still holding off on saying I loved it. But then I started to think about what I've been doing, the swinging, the flip you do when swinging, the flip you do when grappling onto an enemy and zipping on to them then shooting them mid air, the flips you do from just jumping backwards or jumping backwards off a ledge, launching dudes in the air then either punching them or outright throwing them at other people, the triumphant war music. That was my aha moment, I realized what they wanted this game to be. This is not at all supposed to be a a generic third person shooter. This is a playable action movie where you are the director. Cinematic games were always interesting to me but to me, I think of a cinematic game as playing an action movie. Halo 2 made you feel like the Blockbuster Action Hero. But bionic commando? This game makes you feel like the director of a action movie, and you're controlling these actors. After that, this game won me. It's the one game where I'd say the pointless animations are actually important here, you're not just playing as soldier 145, you're the Bionic Commando. No matter what they throw at you you are always evenly matched. The intelligence and combat strategy from your Human Nature. And the strength and utility of your mechanical counterpart. As cheesy as that sounds, that's almost the point in the sense. Be the terminator, be the hulk, be Iron Man. This is your time to be stylish

    Conclusion

I'm sure nobody's going to read this but, even if one person does I want them to understand why this game is a lot better than people were saying it is. And I'm genuinely happy that it's starting to get better reviews on Steam now because it deserves it. For anybody else, this might either be mediocre or in the least okay. And maybe I think this way because of my autism. But I regret not giving bionic Commando a chance. I am not a fan of the franchise, I know very very little of it so this could be their worst game. But speaking as a game on its own, this gave me an experience that I don't think I can forget. I got to be the director for a sick action movie, that's special man

I picked this game up on the winter sale 2014 for like a buck something and didnt expect to much from it . I thought that due to most ports to PC suck real bad.But then i played this one i think Capcom did a real good job with this one !! It translated to PC very well .Im useing keyboard and mouse it works 100% fine (when does that happen in a port?) !! The game play is action packed. It starts out a bit slow but finished hard and fast!! The gfx are decent and the controls once set up are fine, bigtime for this being a port!! The plot kinda reminds me a bit of chesse like in Far Cry 3 : Blood Dragon but in a good way (love that game also) ! I say if you are looking for some good old school button masher, pick this one up 100% !! And if it goes on sale you better get this game in you library !!!

I owned Bionic Commando on the PS3 and honestly I always thought this game was a bit overlooked. Bionic Commando, even today in 2023, is still a pretty good game. Is it amazing? Of course not. Is it fun to play? Absolutely. This game often appears on sale and I bought it recently for a whole $2, but even for the full price of $10, isn't asking much. I think the swing mechanics in this game are fantastic and are so fun to play around with. Although Bionic Commando is a linear game (no open-world), the levels are large enough to experiment with the swing mechanics. Collectibles are often times challenging to get, but rewarding if you can master the swinging. The gunplay sometimes leaves a bit to be desired (the pea shooter pistol being a negative), but there is enough variety in gunplay to keep enemy engagement interesting. Levels are generally pretty fun to explore for collectibles and enemy variety is decent enough. I remember playing the multiplayer back in the day and to me it was one of the highlights of Bionic Commando, so it's a bit disappointing that there is no longer any support for it. This game is from 2009 and certainly was never all that popular so it makes sense, but I wish the multiplayer achieved more popularity because it was honestly a blast to play. Regardless, the single player campaign and the challenges you can complete through multiple play throughs give this game enough of a recommendation for it's price point. Well worth it if you've never experienced it, and nice to dip back into if you're like me and never finished it. It's good fun.
