  This is a great old school survivor horror shooter. It had so much potential to be much more but is held back by technical flaws. I must point out that it was quite revolutionary back when it was first released with its unique combat style. Pros: + Great Atmosphere + Unique survival horror combat style (i'm aware RE4 was released first but they're a tad different) + Marilyn Manson ending soundtrack Cons: - Clunky controls that makes combat frustrating at times - Short game - Glitch that makes you waste ammo (at least on the pc version) - Stingy save points (but that's arguably old school for ya) - Disappointing last boss Overall, despite its flaws, it is still a fun game and worth the price here on steam. Fans of survival horror should give this game a shot. 7/10.

  TL; DR: A hidden gem. I have already played this game a few times before buying the steam copy, and I am glad to say, steam version is not as different as the retail or more buggy, which older Ubisoft games tends to have. Lets look at the positives first: + Atmosphere. The devs must put a lot of effort into this field, I won't be surprised if some of them have being on a rocking ship for real. The weather, the rough seas, rocking boat affects everyone's moment. These are all good stuff. Overall the game feels grounded and believable. + Ambient sound design is a masterpiece, nuff said. + Weapons feel good to use, unlike RE games, you can't upgrade your guns, what you see is what you get. But at the same time, weapons have enough punch to kill regular enemies quickly, there are less moments that enemies are bullet sponges when compared to RE games. Every weapon has it uses, something I liked. + The enemy design is unsettling, even after beating it a few times the exocels still give me chills, because the success of atmosphere creation, you will be constantly on your toes. And shooting every corpse in the head just to be safe. + Graphics is good for 2005, even though it does show its age today. + Game parameter can be modified in config files, adjust the game to your liking. Now the "meh" part, but remember, its an old game, some inconveniences are understandable. * This game does not support 1080p or similar resolution, work around method is available and easy to fix. * While there are some varieties, the game is heavily scripted, the enemy spawn location is the same, can kill some immersion if you beaten it already. * Flamethrower is underwhelming, and there is a chance you kill yourself if the enemy is charging at you already. * Bugs are few and far between, there are no game breaking bug for me. * Story writing is nothing special, it serves the game well enough. * I like the "Zombie needs to be shot in the head to die" concept, you can 1 hit KO regular enemies if you know what you are doing. Fire is another cool mechanic, which is deadly to most things, including the player. Although some enemies are tanky and immune to fire, which is BS. * Soundtrack can break the mood sometimes, but overall its good. Here are the negatives - The control is definitely something you need to get used to, it IS bad. The camera view transit from 3rd person to RE-like 2nd person automatically, can screw up your movements and even leading to game-over. Should let the players switch view as they want, because it sometimes works well, other times are not. - Game is a bit too short, I finished the game in less than 4 hours, that includes retries. - The game lacks auto-180 degree turn function, which should be mandatory, you need to use mouse to do that manually, which really sucks. - There are only 6 fixed save slots, checkpoint save only. Want to save at a certain spot? Nope. Missing in Action? Well from the last checkpoint we go! Too bad, so sad. - Combat is another thing you need to get used to, this is a RE-like game so you have to ready your weapon before shooting, due to the horrible controls you may miss a lot, which can lead to frustrating situations. - Speaking of combat, automatic weapons like AK-47, MP-5 and Flamethrower may shoot non-stop once the trigger is pulled (hitting "attack" key ONCE). Until either the trigger is pulled again or the magazine is empty. I don't know what cause this, but its very annoying especially on higher difficulties where ammo is harder to come by. Judging from the bonus content after beating the game, the folks at Darkworks really want to make something special, the game we got is a fraction of what they originally have to offer, which is a real shame. The game could be a lot longer, have more enemy types, more characters and maybe a better story. Despite all the negativity I have for this game, Cold Fear is still, have a special place in my heart. If you are a survival horror fan, you should get it on sale (I got it for about 1 USD, which is a steal) and try it out. Final Verdict: 6.5/10, its okay, but can be much better.

  Great Resident evil 4 clone, the game is kind of short, but i enjoined the campaign, The only downsides of it is that it doesn't have a map, so sometimes i felt really lost, and the last boss fight is REALLY lame. For those like me that have a ultrawide monitor, the game does not support it, but in WSGF forum there is a fix that works pretty well Definitely recommended in a sale.

  The only survival horror game Ubisoft makes nowadays is the microtransaction section on every game they release yearly.

  Cold Fear came out in 2005 for PC, PS2 and XBOX. It has the probably worst camera you can imagine. Some sort of mix between old PSX Resident Evil camera and dynamic enviroment or over the shoulder camera. Besides of this, the game actually has a lot of atmosphere and a unique storyline where you fight Russian mercenaries turned zombies - so nothing new here ;). Professional reviewers didnt seem to like the game and rated it mostly mixed and average around the 3/5 or 6/10 level. According to wikipedia it also sold very badly with only 70k copies across all platforms (PS2, XBOX, PC) in the US by 2006. Last but not least, not to forget that this game has been published by Ubisoft. Who knows, maybe one day we will see a remake if Ubisoft gets itself together - doubtful in end of 2022.   Good ol' classic horror game with heavy inspirations from Resident Evil. The story is okay, it felt rushed at the second half of the game. Camera angles are like RE's except aiming your weapon turns into third person shooter which I used a lot just to see better. The monsters are scary and there were a few jump scares that got me. A lot of running back and forth and there is no map so remembering locations is a must or you'll just be going around in circles. I wish I was able to save whenever I wanted to, it only allows you to save before important parts or parts it'll think you will die in. I ran into no issues surprisingly for it being an older game, I used a fix to get the resolution to fit my monitor's and it worked flawlessly. Though ALT+Tabbing out of the game caused it to mess up the graphics which was easily fixed by restarting the game. All in all, its a horror game with similar features of Resident Evil but a bit easier in my opinion. Short game. I recommend this. Also, at the end credits, it has a Marilyn Manson song I haven't heard before (which is rare for me), and just for that alone +5.
