Metro Exodus Expansion Pass Возможности

The Metro Exodus Expansion Pass will contain two major pieces of story-driven DLC for the game, following brand new stories from the world of Metro. Instead of Artyom, players will have the chance to see through the eyes of a brand new character and of one of the Spartan Rangers, the Aurora’s only American, Sam.

The Two Colonels – Summer 2019

Just below the surface, under the dead city of Novosibirsk, Colonel Khlebnikov makes his way home to his son, Kirill, for New Years Eve.

But all is not well with the people here: the slime is further consuming the tunnels, mutant attacks appear to be on the rise and the precious ‘green stuff’ that protects the people from radiation poisoning is running low. In order to secure the survival of any of the people, those in charge may need to take drastic measures…

Following the journey and experiences of Khlebnikov during the last days of life in Novosibirsk, which Colonel Miller retraces a year later, players can expect the classic story-driven gameplay of the Metro series in this new linear chapter, complete with a brand new weapon, the deadly flame-thrower, claustrophobic environments, and the all-too-familiar hair-raising tension.

Sam’s Story – Early 2020

Sam, a US marine at the Moscow embassy before the bombs were dropped, has long dreamed of returning to his homeland, and maybe finding his family alive. The prospect seemed impossible in the darkened tunnels of the Metro, but when the Spartans discovered that Moscow was not the only city left alive after the war, holding out hope didn’t feel so foolish anymore.

Sam makes his way away from the Aurora in search of a way back to the USA, arriving at the remains of Vladivostok’s tsunami ravaged harbours, ruined industrial buildings, and crumbling residential districts.  To complete his journey, Sam will discover that he needs every tactic he has learned so far to survive, as his surroundings prove to be far trickier than expected.

Players will forge Sam's path through the sandbox survival landscape of Vladivostok, as they take a brand new journey across the wasteland of post-apocalyptic Russia

THE TWO COLONELS: This DLC is a mixed bag. As far as the plot goes it's fine, with some interesting twists and turns, and on paper, some good things are explored. On the other hand....the dialogue is, without any exaggeration, atrocious and amateurish. Metro has never been all that strong in this area, yet this is as bad as it's ever been and quite poor for a title that resides between AA and AAA standards. If this was a COD title and they kept referring to a "radiocative thingy-ma-jig" you'd roll your eyes at the ineptitude of the writing, but here they keep calling an antidote to radioactive poisoning "the green stuff". "Green stuff this", "green stuff that" "what's that green stuff?" "oh! that stuff that's green? well, we call it green stuff" and the best bit is that I'm not even kidding all that much. Is the game-play at least up-to scratch? Well...yes, and no. As with the main game it's a mixture of set-pieces and shoot-outs, albeit more heavily skewed towards the former over the latter. This DLC introduces a new weapon (the flamethrower) at the expense of everything else, and has very few sections where you'll actually have access to any other weapons. The fire effects are gorgeous and it is fun burning mutants to a crisp, but it's also sluggish to wield and limits your movement to an annoying degree. And then you have the fact this is generally the only thing you'll be armed with, which makes the scope of this DLC rather limited. They call this The Two Colonels, but in truth it's really only about one (a new character, Colonel Klebnikhov) with the story that you wanted to see reduced to being a framing device. Want to know what happened to Colonel Miller during that sequence in Metro Exodus where he went off on his own for a bit and then miraculously re-appeared right around the time Artyom was dying and saved his life? Well...tough sh*t, because although they say this is that slice of time, it isn't really. You see Colonel Miller in the present day looking for this other colonel, and then it flashes back to him in the past where you play through it as Klebnikhov. As a narrative it's a bit unsatisfying, although it has a Modern Warfare twist that I enjoyed and a Deus Ex Machina moment from an unexpected source that was pretty cool. I can see what they were trying to achieve but as long as they lack decent writing (or it's pish when translated beyond Russian?) it will never be elevated up to the likes of a The Last Of Us, or some other lauded story-telling. On the game-play front it's basically just three drawn-out set-pieces and one new weapon, with the crafting elements being utterly pointless and exploration being non-existent too. By itself I would say this is mediocre but not without some worthwhile moments, though with the expansion pass you at least get another piece of DLC and that is thankfully much more substantial. Speaking of which.... SAM'S STORY I'm sure everyone remembers Sam, right? You know, the American dude where you were like "who the f*ck is this guy, and how the f*ck does an American end up in a game set in Russia?" Well....uh...prepare for disappointment, because they only answer that question in passing, with the main story being about how he gets home after the events of the main game. Luckily this is really good, and they do an excellent scene showing him to be a bad-ass befitting of someone with military training (he's a marine) which fills in the blanks just as well as the short exposition they give. The narrative here is surprisingly good, albeit with the usual standard of somewhat pish writing (though better than the other dlc). Game-play is much more open than the other piece of content, and feels like a smaller slice (albeit still fairly meaty) of the main game. With a much larger environment that offers space for additional side-quests and exploration, alongside some pretty decent set-pieces and a functioning stealth system, this is much bigger in scope than The Two Colonels. It is just more of the same as Exodus, but I must admit that having the main character not be russian makes it a bit more palatable without the overdone accents and OTT behaviour. There's still a scene of him getting drunk just like every other Metro game has done with it's characters, though it is at least quite funny here. Sam being american is the only new ground this DLC covers, yet the quality on display makes it much more worthwhile than the slightly disappointing content of The Two Colonels. The content is complete, well designed and works in every regard, be it stealth or action. It more than makes up for the somewhat disappointing other piece of DLC. With a bit more polish to the dialogue and the technical slickness of COD this would be their take on a blockbuster movie by way of Metro. The end shoot-out is surprisingly action-packed without sacrificing that world-weary feel of the other games, and still makes use of stealth and item crafting. On the whole this is a pleasant return to an engaging environment, with a good, but not great, story backing it up. Rating this: it's well worth it. The two colonels....well, the game-play is a little disappointing, and you'll have to shut your brain off to the pish dialogue, but the framework is sound enough, and it's not without it's moments.
