  I only recommend this if you want to know the backstory of 47; otherwise, it's not really worth it. The AI for the bots is stupid and the maps are unnecessarily large without offering much content. The levels are overly tedious and there isn't much to go off of. They are also very boring. There is 0 power balance in the guns, as in the SMGs or rifles being infinitely more powerful than any other gun in the game. Snipers are the only ones that make sense. The controls are awful and it took me so much trial and error to reach a set I was comfortable with, even so, it still took me time to adapt to it. I cannot comment on graphics or physics engine or yada yada because it's a very old game. Also, it crashes often. Still, for a 2000 PS2 game, this very much exceeded my expectations. I wanted to know the backstory of this franchise and was really burdened with the thought that playing this will be hell... it was hell, but not like, HELL, y'know? And I am definitely glad that this gave birth to this legendary franchise. Best Wishes Diana Burnwood. Controller. The Agency.

  How to play Hitman Codename 47 with a 1920x1080 monitor

  Right click on Hitman Codename 47 on your steam library and go to manage then press "Browse Local Files" Then find hitman.ini open it and paste this in: Include Setup\Locale.zip //DrawDll Render3DFX.dll DrawDll RenderOpenGL.dll //DrawDll RenderOpenGL.dll SoundDll Sound.dll ScriptDll GSC.dll LocaleDLL Locale.dll Resolution 1920x1080 ColorDepth 32 Anisotropy 2 AntiAlias DisableLight ShadowDetail 2 TextureResolution 0 DisableDXT DisablePAL Window StartUpperPos 0,0 Main menu won't look good but when you play a mission it will do full screen

The gamers view the Hitman 47 as an action hero franchise series, I view this entire series as a metaphor for how cold the world can be. That was the case with Agent 47. The ending scene of the game shows him finally realizing that he will always be on his own and no one cares.

  Yes, it is jank, but it's enjoyable jank. Hitman: Codename 47 takes you back to that era where games had no qualms with frustrating the player with trial and error gameplay, no checkpoints, and isn't concerned with being a bit unfair, and with that comes a sense of accomplishment when you actually complete a mission. Rarely can a modern game provide the same thrill of successfully taking out your target and sneaking out the back without anyone noticing.

  This game taught me a new trade and that cocaine will turn you into some sort of superhuman who can absorb bullets. Who says video games aren't educational?

  The quality of missions varies greatly. Fun, but buggy. Bugs range from annoying (items disappearing on holstering) to game balance breaking (dragging bodies while running/shooting a sawn-off shotgun without reloading) to softlocking (falling through an elevator and getting stuck under the map, forcing a restart) or just crashing the game. If you're willing to stick with it, it can be rewarding despite some of the more questionable design choices. No save games during missions but you have limited respawns. You're required to cap the frame rate to 60 fps to avoid frame rate related bugs like physics breaking and AI running too fast. After capping the frame rate, it worked just fine on my Windows 10 64-bit installation. The HUD and menus do not scale up with higher resolutions, making some of the text appear really small. You can force the game to run in widescreen by editing a config file, but this crops the picture vertically, so you need a third party fix for proper widescreen support.

  My review is totally in respect that the game was published back in 2000. You will never finish a level as a 'silent assassin' unless u die and die and die and die again , it is hard it is challenging and there is no helpers, u need to figure everything on ur own by dying and dying and dying, damn even the tutorial wasn't clear, but still there is more than one way to finish your mission and once you figure them out, you will go through the level as smoothly and satisfying as it can get. I love this game, still playable after 14 years, even with the old graphics and AI system.
