  The Good: ------------ -The graphics still hold up well 20 years later -The difficulty is challenging without being impossible -A nice variety of locations and missions -Scripting, especially the way alarms change enemy patterns, still holds up well -While being linear there is often more than one way to solve a problem -Sexy ladies made 14 year old me have funny thoughts about leather The Bad: ---------- -Controls are not up to modern standards and require lots of re-binding to be playable -Gunplay does not hold up to modern standards, with weapons being very inaccurate, scopes being lowered as soon as you move, and the FG42 not allowing you to move the reticle while you are firing -Grenade throws are pitifully weak, as are the grenades themselves -While this is the first FPS I know of to include a lean mechanic, it does not allow you to shoot while leaning -Was made a few years before ADS was a thing, but does not even have the weapon zoom that early WWII games such as the first few Medal of Honors had RtcW was revolutionary 20 years ago, and is still generally playable, but really shows its age in a lot of places that matter

  A classic for sure. My personal favorite WWII game....it's historically accurate in my book. Play If: You love shooting nazis, love shooting zombies, love ID games, are in love with old school shooters Don't Play If: You need shooters to be more "modern", need amazing graphics (in its defense this game was a graphical masterpiece in its day), like historically accurate WWII games, think shooters need regenerating health

  Return to Castle Wolfenstein is a classic. I grew up playing this game and I highly recommended it if you're into old-school/boomer shooters. The devs incorporated and mashed several different genres and themes to create a very unique experience. Some levels feature pure action while others include elements of horror as well as sci-fi. There are also a couple of stealth sections. Every level has a different look and feel to it and you won't find yourself in the same environment twice and that's saying something. There are tons of enemy variety throughout the campaign and lots of different guns at your disposal. The story is just okay imo and sometimes it can feel a bit corny, like a bad Hollywood movie, but that's part of it's charm. The voice acting is nothing special and the cutscenes were alright and fits the theme and tone of the game. Some of the bosses look ridiculous. The game runs on some old Quake engine and the graphics have aged considerably. Environments look a little rough especially the outdoor scenery but it's expected given it's age. I just wished if the devs had tone-downed supernatural elements a bit. Combat is generally awesome with a few minor hiccups from time to time and bugs. The game also crashed 3 times on my roughly 8 hour playthrough (might have something to do with Windows 10 but not sure). As for the music there aren't any songs or a cool theme song but I guess it's alright if you're just going to have some fun. RTCW is still an old-school game at heart and so yes, it can be quite difficult during the later stages of the game. Many of the mini bosses with flamethrowers and mini-gun will instantly crush you to death. Even regular soldiers and Nazi zombies get pinpoint accuracy in killing you and headshots also get less accurate for some reason as you progress further. Make sure to quick save often! Overall RTCW is still great today and doesn't overstay it's welcome during it's 6-8 hour campaign. It's not for everyone, if you're expecting it to play like a modern FPS like Wolfenstein 2014 or Doom 2016 reboot then you're going to be left disappointed. It also requires community fixes and patches to run properly on modern hardware with 19:6 widescreen support at high resolution. Hope to see a fan-made remake of this game in RTX Remix with path-tracing features!
