The combat is pretty satisfying which is good since that's all you do. Outfits are cool looking enough that I want to unlock them and the story is interesting enough that I want to keep going. Better than expected for a weeb game like this.

On the surface Cinderella's escape 2 is a beat-em-up that puts its' own spin on fairy-tale tropes. As Cinderella you were framed for killing the good king. After having been handcuffed and executed, a "fairy god mother" promises you a new lease on life to clear your name by finding the true killer. I will not spoil much but you eventually encounter a witch whom created living battle dolls and they are being used for nefarious purposes, probably by the same people whom assassinated the king. (This explains where Pinocchio came from but he's since went rogue as a manipulative puppeteer of his own kind.) Eventually you'll meet other fairy-tale celebrities like Snow White and help them with their own unique problems. I was surprised the lore and overall story had this much thought go into them. It's not merely snide self referential humor. The first official mission ends with an unexpectedly tragic romantic affair similar to Romeo and Juliet. Despite this being a land of magic and wonder "bad things" can still happen to good people. There's even the existential exploration of certain battle dolls wanting to become more human or falling in love with their human masters. In the back of my mind I was thinking "Hey,this kind of reminds me of Nier Automata. It's not just eye candy and flashy spectacle! I'll be darned, the dev put actual "layers" into my eroge fairy-tale themed BDSM brawler!". And if there's one thing you have to get "right" in a beat em up it is the flow and satisfying "crunch" of the combat! Even if it is repetitive it has to create an addictive loop. Luckily Cinderella's Escape II does this remarkably well. You would think a girl in cuffs would clumsily fumble around as a fish would out of water but fortunately Cinderella is an acrobatic kick boxer whom could hold her own against well trained MMA fighters. Seriously, this girl moves like an ice skater with lethal intentions! (Only she's more of a "face" skater if you get my drift. Ouch!) As you would expect, Cinderella has a block,an evasive flip, and even a helpful slide maneuver which can either get her out of the way or set up a devastating string of combos. Once her stock gauge is full she can also execute her "spinning death blossom" effectively turning her into a black-swan ballerina of death! Enemies are reinterpretations of renaissance-fair medieval tropes, some of which have a modern or futuristic twist. There are knights, squires, archers, sniper maids, axe wielding amazons, clerical healers, and even hobbit-looking dwarves that are surprisingly swift and good at knocking you out of your combos. (I call this stuttering.) Every mob has its' zoners, direct heavy hitters, supporters, and the town militia that's there just to put bodies between you and your next objective. As such, minimal strategy is required. Not "brain surgery", just common sense when it comes to enemy placement and which units are more potentially dangerous compared to others. Boss encounters themselves usually are not "too tough" with some preparation. (Aka,leveling up a couple times) I would now like to address a half truth/half lie I see popping up intermediately. That being the game is "short" and you can complete it in a flash. Sure, you can do that. (I have already) But there is a robust amount of side missions, different difficulties, and further challenges resulting in an enticing incentive to pick it up again. All that without addressing the mother-load of unlockable outfits, lingerie, and accessories! (Which would all be "paid DLC" in a bigger budget "more reputable" game of this genre by the way! Bless the generosity of humble indie developers!) Cinderella's Escape II gives you exactly what you put into it. The game is as fleeting or as long lasting as you want it to be..... Pros +Pleasant visuals +A surprisingly well done reinterpretation of fairy-tale archetypes + Fun fast flowing combo-crunch combat +The game does not take itself too seriously yet also doesn't become a cynical fourth wall breaking post modernist deconstruction at every turn. There is some unexpectedly good story telling that occasionally evokes deeper thoughts and genuine emotions. +A lot of side missions, additional challenges, harder difficulties, and unlockable goodies for those whom do not simply blaze a trial directly from point A to point B. +Snatching up giant coins is more nostalgic and enjoyable than it has a right to be! +Very high quality for such a modest grass-roots endeavor +The Inn hub makes it a breeze to transition between the story chapters, your ever expanding wardrobe, and the "extra missions" off to the side. +Unlocking more outfits gives you gradually increasing stat related bonuses + Has that Suda 51's,Kamiya's,and Yoko Taro's "earlier projects before they became famous" vibe...... (Imagine what such an individual could do with a devout team and a bigger budget. Possibilities are endless!!) Cons -Levels are linear pathways broken up only by various caged-in battle arenas. -Beat em up or hack n slash fans will like the moment to moment fighting but may take issue with only being able to use one character. (Not that this stopped the original Bayonetta or original Devil May Cry from being good. Still, thought I'd mention it.) -Those whom are weened solely on more mainstream titles within this genre are bound to make unfair comparisons. That's just the nature of the beast. -The soundtracks beyond whichever angel sung the game's beautifully done main theme song are merely "there". Neither terrible nor memorable. It's not that the compositions themselves lack musical talent. I just get deja vu whenever I listen to them as if I have heard them repeatedly before somewhere else. -English language story bits are conveyed by pop ups and comic-book-like captions. This does not bother me and the translation is up to snuff. Yet for certain youngins whom are used to every line of dialogue being smoothly dropped into a microphone by "talented god-level VAs" such a minimalist visual novel approach could be a bit jarring for them! (Inserting my old-man-isms here!) -If you wanted an eroge title with more "BANG" I can understand why this may come off as a bit lackluster. Beyond themes of bondage, domination, and the sexy outfits it is a more vanilla experience as far as adult rated games go. (Check out Solas City Heroes and play the demo if you are considering a purchase for more of that "bang" I mentioned!) -Typical flaws of the genre. Enemies are recycled and repetition will set in. If you are a fan of beat em ups and hack n slashes you know no matter how good they are you are gonna repeat the same motions more than once. To an extent this is par the course with any piece of interactive entertainment. For games in this mold it is more apparent earlier on.

Simplistic? Yes. Easy to learn controls? Yes. Hard game to figure out? No. Feels like other games? Sure. Bouncing bewbs? Yes. Very simple beat the crap out of stuff, go from one end of the map to the other, short little story, unlock outfits, dress up the heroine, (Or undress) One man made, game. For one guy doing nearly all the work, I am actually impressed, the smoothness of the combat, while simple, is pretty damned amazing. Soundtrack is very JRPG, which I dig. Kind of reminds me of a cross of Godhand and Once Upon a Time. Except Cinderalla looks awesome and wrecks hard. Good way to kill some time and not get bored.

The first game in this series was very fun, it had puzzles and figuring them out was a ton of fun, it did get a little dull, but the puzzle solving aspect kept me engaged for hours as I tried to figure them out (and some of them were very hard). This version is all about the fighting and boy does it get dull and repetetive fast, you do litteraly the same thing stage after stage, with your only challenge being the terrible camera panning and cheap enemies that keep hiting ou on the ground (till you use the special and just kill everything easily). After 10 levels, I had enough, oh, and the outfits? they cost the equivilant of 10 stages worth of gold, and the amount of gold you get each stage is exactly the same as stage 1. And the stage layouts are nearly identical. I may get this game again when it's MUCH cheaper (like $3), it's not worth it for $11, too basicly too repetetive, graphics are too terrible.
Welcome to the Robot Maid Review of Cinderella Escape 2 Revenge
A small game at a somewhat modest price of 15 USD... and I'm really not sure how I want to review it. I didn't dislike the game, but at the same time it wasn't anything ground breaking or really anything of note. The story continues on from Cinderella Escape. Overall, it's a retake on the story of Cinderella where many old fairy tales all exist in the same universe. But that's not why we're here. Yes, the main pull is the combat of the game where you can strip your opponents by kicking them enough times that their clothes explode and they show off their undies. This applies to women, men, and little boys. I'm not sure why that last one is a factor and I may have been put on another government watch list for playing this game as long as I have. The controls are solid and the mechanics work rather well. But it's nothing... interesting. This game makes Dynasty Warriors and its contemporaries look complex. The sound design is pretty bland too, with a lot of sounds repeating (most notably the grunts and groans from people getting kicked). There's also no music in the stages either. I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but if you're playing this, better have a playlist ready. There is a musical score during cutscenes and rather good MMD animation that plays whenever you start a certain stage (it comes out of nowhere, but it's not entirely unwelcome I suppose). The character models look pretty good, but they all share the same body type. There's a lot of collectibles and outfits you can put Cinderella in with gold earned in missions. Unfortunately, this puts me at the worst part of the game. It's unnecessarily grindy. I've played this game a bit more than 6 hours and 1/3 ~ 1/2 of that time is easily just me grinding stages for EXP and money to get level ups and gold. The game is also incredibly easy, with having no real challenge (though that's not a problem if you're looking to play a mindless game that involves exploding the clothes of your enemies.) I've almost 100%'d the game if not for the last achievement requiring 10,000 kills. At the end, I guess I can recommend it, even if only a little because 3-6 hours of mindless fun of kicking people and stripping their clothes to a goofy story is still better than some other releases. There's definitely worse out there for more than this game asks for. TL;DR Simple mindless fun that's easy to jump in and out of. Needlessly grindy for completion. This has been a Robot Maid review. Thank you for reading, and I hope to see you again.

!!! Cinderella Escape 2 is not a puzzle platformer like the first one was !!! The developer, only kept the story from the first game. else it is a brawler - a good one at it. Granted, the gameplay feels a little "stiff" now an then (no pun intended) and could be a little smoother to my taste but the game keeps you motivated and is not too grindy. I've taken a liking to it, but I can understand people that don't like the game. It certainly is way less smoothened out as other AAA Brawlers, but then none of the other brawlers are developed by just one person. That been said, you definetly can tell, these are mmd models ported to unity engine, if you have some experience with either of these programs, which by itself is not a bad thing but definetly sticks out. Buy if: -You like Brawlers and look for a game to play now and then -You like the MMD art style -You liked the first part, and don't have a problem fighting instead of puzzeling. -You wanna experience a Cinderella story that is somewhat different, from what Disney wants to sell. Don't buy if: -You hate brawlers and are looking for a puzzlegame -You despise any of the points above
