  Earth Overclocked is an adventure / bullet hell similar to games like Hero Siege, Realm of the mad God, or Nuclear Throne. While the game does feel like an alpha to me, there is already a lot of polish. I look forward to watching this game develop.

  Realm Of The Mad God before it was pay to win, with it's own twist. Pros: Great Soundtrack Insane Replayability Durability of Weapons done right Awesome enemy design Class Variety Tons of different modes that suit your playstyle Unlockables without steam achievements, actual content, not a stupid picture. Great Randomization Mixed: The only problem I have with this game, is that there's a timer to everything you do, so you gotta run through the game fast, you got 20 minutes to [spoiler]get all 4 time machine pieces]/spoiler. however, this is the only RPG game that got a timer right, it all depends on your skill! Cons: I have none! Enjoy the game! :D

  EDIT: Developer jumped on all of the bugs I mentioned within 5 hours and pushed fixes for them, and asked for more. Original review still listed for completeness sake, but this is definitely a developer worth supporting. Major usability bugs are gone. ---------- This needs to be listed as Early Access. Unless there's a bug on the review page, it is not. Even at full price, I can't see this game going for a fair price of $7.99. Right now the game has several experience-destroying bugs, and even when it's working the content is pretty bland. It's clear the developer is putting in hard work, but comparing this game to early RotMG is a joke. There is no player-player interaction(arguably the crux of rotmg) Pros: - Sounds are good - Weapons all feel different and have a different use - Feels satisfying to hit things - Controls are tight enough Cons: - EDIT: FIXED - If at any point you click off the screen, you're done. Your character will keep moving and your key will get locked. This is compounded by a hard to see cursor. - Enemies all feel similar. They either rush you down or spam you with projectiles. - Dungeons take forever and all feel the same. - Entire game hinges on which bosses you roll. Some of them take forever and keep you at bay, while others just stand still and die for you. You definitely want the latter of the two. - Chests never feel useful. It's much more effective to just get the shark cannon and go win. - Every playthrough feels the same. I beat the first campaign so I could say I gave it a fair shot, in four tries. The second campaign is the exact same thing except bosses/elites spawn everywhere, instead of just at boss spots or elite spots. The bosses don't feel like they were designed to have synergy. I want to like this game, as Realm holds a place in my heart, but it just feels like a paid version of a free game that does everything better. It would be worth in its current state IF: - It was at the $2.50 level. There are just so many other things out there for $8 or even $5 that are *better*. - It was marked Early Access. This does not feel like a finished product. - It did something new. Adding a timer to the game lies directly at odds with any strategy besides 'rush', and rushing doesn't feel fun in this game. - It had online multiplayer. Playing by myself is boring, but I could see this being okay with a friend.

  never like indie. But played this game with pleasure. Nice way to spend 1-2 hours with friends. Solo mode seems like to hardcore for me ;D

  Judging from the videos and the screenshots I didn't have many expectations. After all, rogue-like-retro is a genre that has become saturated in today's indie games. Besides, permadeath, no save-anytime-I-want, not appreciated (it stated it clearly in its description, no surprises). Yet, I was inclined to gamble my cents (perhaps even more, had it supported linux, too) for a few minutes of fun, on a game with full controller support. So I got it on a discount. And, indeed, I enjoyed it a lot, for it proved to be a really well designed game, despite it's retristic, not-so-beautiful look and feel. I'm now looking forward to playing it with friends. Would I buy it again on its full, 5$ price? I really don't know. But on a discount, you can't go wrong.

  it is a great and fun game i would recommend it if you are bored and need to waste time. the only problem is that there is no cloud for some things. like i had a really good weapon in storage for next round and i go to play the game on another computer and the item isnt there for next round

  Earth Overclocked was an interesting expirience to me, those turned away from the time restrictions don't worry that's not the big problem with it, the big problem is, in essence the difficulty, it took me 5 tries to get past the first level but that is reasonable, I don't see a reason why anyone shouldn't get this game other than the graphics, the playermodels are decent but the ground textures need some work before they look natural in this enviornment. To me I believe this game is a hidden gem on Steam and I'm glad I found it, it's one of those games you play when all your other games don't have an appeal to you so you load this up and die a few times totally on accident for your mood to change toward another game, but however it is fun for what it's worth.

  This game is really well made for both a couch party and solo play. Maybe it's just me but this game is very well done for a 5 euro game. Anyway, you shouldn't stop patching. This game deserves attention. It's good.

  A pretty decent game. I picked it up for a dollar a few sales back and it's done pretty well. It's not a game you sit down and play all day and night, but it is a pretty good timewaster every now and again. I would highly recommend waiting for a sale in order to buy this game, though, as it would make it much more worth-while.

  Surprisingly nice and addictive game in the genre that I don't usually like. [b]Earth Overclocked[/b] is yet another one of those cheap indie real-time permadeath rogue-like games that you can often find in bundles and most of which suck very hard. For many reasons. Those are usually way too poor, way too unpolished, or something like that. Up to the point where they're half-broken games that kill you faster than you can understand what's going on and what you should do. For example, not so long ago I suffered through a game called [b]Vampire of the Sands[/b]. The idea itself wasn't that bad, but the experience itself... it was [i]extremely[/i] unpleasant. What makes [b]Earth Overclocked[/b] different is that it's surprisingly nicely done. It's still a cheap indie game, [i]but[/i] it does the job very well. It's still a hardcore permadeath experience, [i]but[/i] it's polished enough to make it worth for you. In other words, it's one of those games in the genre that actually worth some of your time. But OK, let's assume you've never seen such games. So... what [i]is[/i] [b]Earth Overclocked[/b] exactly? Like I said, [b]Earth Overclocked[/b] is a real-time rogue-like game with permadeath. Not with just permadeath [i]option[/i], but with [i]constant[/i] permadeath. You can't disable it. You die – that's it. The run is over. And since very often this game can be a lot like bullet hell... well... you've got the idea. You die, you die, you die. Your goal is pretty simple, though. And that's one of the reasons why this game is so addictive. You can finish every run in less then [b]10[/b] minutes (did I mention that you also have limited time here?). And during that time you should collect [b]4[/b] pieces of your time machine (the game comes with some basic story). Two of those pieces you should get from dungeons and two from random bosses in the overworld. After collecting all pieces, you'll fight the final boss, after which the run will be over. That's basically it. It sounds simple and, well, that [i]is[/i] simple, but... it works. The game makes you want to return to it. Again and again. Just because that mix of the simple environment, basic goals and hardcore gameplay make a really nice blend. To make things even better, there are various suits with different unique stats. You can select one before every run to change the gameplay dramatically. There are also two special story-related boss battles that you unlock by finishing different runs in different suits. In other words, it's addictive [i]and[/i] it comes with some goals. That's what I liked the most. I mean, many of the games in this genre come with no proper story, or goal whatsoever, while [b]Earth Overclocked[/b] makes you wonder about the ending. It's nothing special, the story is pretty basic and there's some stupid humor in it, even though the whole thing is just a few lines, but [i]still[/i] it makes you wonder. Which adds a lot to the addictiveness. Of course, [b]Earth Overclocked[/b] is not a must have game. There's even nothing [i]really[/i] special about it. It's just a nice example of how cute the game in this genre can be. If you like real-time permadeath rogue-like games, have a free weekend and only [b]$5[/b] on your credit card, this game may be a very nice choice for you. If all that isn't about you, it may be a good idea to skip it. Since, like I said, it isn't a groundbreaking unique experience for everybody. And yet, it's hard to give this game a thumb down. Just because it's a very rare case when I actually enjoyed such game. [i]A lot.[/i]
