First time playing....NPC blocks the door and kills me. Second time playing... Aliens decide they will just run straight into my bullets Third time playing...I cried when I could get into the yellow robot suit only to be able to move 2 steps before having to dismount again. Fifth time playing .... went online and found a cheap spot as an alien....killed the marine players by spitting acid for the whole round Last time playing it....played it with friends only to find out the first mission they got was the mid point of the game.....they haven't even played the game before and were hosting it.....after that uninstalled and continue to cry as I watch the old E3 trailers. Conclusion........I see this button saying do you recommend this game...I tried so hard to find the "nuke it from orbit, it's the only way to be sure"

What is the definition of Inconsistency? Colonial Marines! OH MY GOD! WHAT A WASTED OPPORTUNITY! This is the roughest game I have ever played which doesn't come from Early Access nor Indie! SO ROUGH The campaign was way better than I expected judging by reviews. Game is very cinematic FPS and I love such games. Story kept me engaged. But this game has so many game breaking bugs, Literally good chunk of my playtime is dedicated to mission restarts and trying out mods for bug fixes. GAMEPLAY BALANCING..LMAO. I don't know why the Fuck I didn't heard complaints about this before. Some points in the game were soo damn difficult. Enemies kept on unlimited spawning at some areas. It turned out from my personal testing that some AI spelling correction, FPS unlock and ACM Overhaul mod I used led to that. Then after re-verifying and restoring game files integrity, the issue was solved. But yet gameplay balancing issues was present. I couldn't believe I was playing at normal difficulty. It felt like game switched to hardest difficulty at some areas! There are so many game breaking bugs like our team or enemies stuck to any random point in map while they are needed to be on front to progress. Sometimes you have to shoot enemies designed for 2-3 people alone because your team preferred to look at the wall whole time! This is very frustrating and don't ask how many times I had to restart. VERY INCONSISTENT GRAPHICS...INCONSISTENT Major areas of the game looked too dull. While some areas were so damn good looking. It felt like different areas were designed with different generation graphics lol. The TemplarGFX's ACM Overhaul mod is TOO GOOD. It improved those visuals and inconsistency roughness a lot. But due to those unfortunate unlimited enemy spawns at some points, I had to remove it. FPS is also locked to 60 so forget to enjoy ultra smooth gameplay. Some modification in ini file unlock FPS but it may break game at some areas. AUDIO...shit I wish there was a option to mute those gun sounds from some weapons, because they were horrible like some shit gun not synced with the weapon appearance. GAMEPLAY SHOOTING...fucked The accuracy of guns are horrible, and you will realise this everytime you encounter human enemies firing from cover. They completely spoilt the fun with human encounters because of that. Shooting aliens were fun though. Reminds of Alien vs Predators. So why POSITIVE REVIEW? Because the game campaign and expansion DLC were very good. I had a lot of fun playing those with some compromises of course. You can easily get this game for ultra cheap rate and in my opinion, with still developing mods and fixes, you may enjoy the game even more than I did. I recommend TemplarGFX's ACM Overhaul mod for starters. I don't know why the game directors are not interested in fixing this stuff themselves. OVERALL, GOOD GAME WITH FUCKED UP QA.

Gearbox's prized shit, the legendary ass blast that stained the name of Aliens for a long time and to some degree still has its lingering scent in the air. This is the pinnacle of how far game development companies can lie and play with your expectations. I'd almost in some way recommend seeing it for yourself on a discount sale, but I'd rather not encourage you to put money in some greasy corporate douchebag's wallet. Insults aside, I almost don't have to explain why this is a pass on buying; there have almost been more reviews of this game than there have been sales of it. Colonial Marines is the perfect example of bait and switch, advertising stellar gameplay and intelligent enemies only to fuck all of it up and give you a product that smashes and fragments your expectations. Gunplay is laughable, sometimes uttely unneeded thanks to how brain dead most xenomorphs are in this game. AvP (all of them) knew what to do to make the xenomorphs a threat, having them wall and ceiling hop around while engaging you aggressively; forget any of that in Colonial Marines. Some of theses xeno encounters you can run right on by without a problem even, its almost like they had to include WY corporate enemies to provide a challenge that had reliable ranged attacks. On the topic of that, there are entire chapters where we forget about the xenos and have to fight the corporation. Admittedly, its not an aweful idea, but in execution we see the aliens themselves get sidelined where they should be the main antagonist and essential enemies to encounter and be wary of; too bad they are dumbasses charging you in ways you can easily predict to avoid or melee them to death. The story is mostly forgettable, with dull aliens and overall unimpressive presentation that was a far cry from the impressive trailers Gearbox was showboating up until its release. The fact that there is DLC and an expansion story to this with an additional pricetag is beyond me. Stay clear of this game, unless you really have to experience this shit yourself to understand how bad you can be lied to by greedy development teams.

STILL better than Aliens Fireteam Elite. Sure; greasy randy did greasy randy things when it released, bc that's what a greasy mustard tiger does... But you can get it for around 10 or less now so imo yes, it's worth it for that much. Stay Frosty- Nips can be used as glass cutters in case of emergency

If you meet the following criteria, you will possibly enjoy this game: 1) You paid $5 or less for this. 2) You only bought it for the single player campaign. 3) You can overlook that the game did not meet its launch expectations. 4) You are a fan of the Aliens franchise. 5) As a fan of the franchise you can overlook many of the implausible settings the game uses. If you can pass all that, then you have a chance at enjoyment. *Spoilers* The game is basically sticking you in the role of a Colonial Marine and having you retread the sights of LV-426. You'll walk the halls of the U.S.S Sulaco, you will land at Hadley's Hope, you will explore Operations and in the end you will even visit the Engineer ship where the franchise began. Each area is pretty much a giant easter egg filled with tiny easter eggs. You'll stumble over the spent sentry guns from the Aliens director's cut, one still containing 10 rounds. You'll find the room where Burke, Carter J. met his cowardly end. The medical bay where Ripley and Newt were attacked by face-huggers is here as well, with overturned beds and bullet-shattered glass. While crawling through the sewers you can even find the head of Newt's doll that we last saw floating sadly on the water. That said, a lot of plausibility of those easter eggs was sacrificed in the name of coolness. Sure, it's cool to pick up Hicks' shotgun but why is "No Fate" carved into it? Sure I get it, same actor but why would Dwayne Hicks scratch that on his darling for close encounters? As far as the gameplay itself goes, it is clunky but passable. You will either overlook it because you like Aliens that much or you will turn the game off after 5 minutes. Or perhaps you will do both - I myself played for 5 minutes before putting it down for a year. When I played it again I beat it all the way through just out of curiosity. Found myself slightly entertained though, I admit, more by the settings and the little things than the actual story. On that note, the story - if you have played an Aliens game or watched an Aliens movie than you know the story already. Weyland-Utani are bad guys, they want the alien and will stop at nothing to do their experiments. Nothing new here. This is basically a game for fans of Aliens who can also overlook the disrespect towards that very movie's canon, shown over and over again via easter eggs. If you fit the bill than I recommend this title to you!
