  OK but: - please change the combat system - please change Diego - please change intro so it matches the original (mainly the Bullit and Diego parts) - the protagonist talks too much Graphics and the location look good Maybe sticking to the original and adding and changing a few parts would be a good idea I am aware that it's teaser and the final game might look totally different. Waiting for it!

  Like other people have said, it does look very pretty. But Wow that combat is just the most unfun thing I've experienced.

  I was really looking forward to this series being picked up again and getting a makeover, but oh boy was I disappointed. In the original version you play a resilient and capable stranger who sometimes gets a little sassy in conversation if you choose the options accordingly. The guy in this reinvention is a douche who is constantly blabbering and can't walk 2 seconds without talking nonsense. The original game greeted you with a dark medieval fantasy vibe that was very typical for the RPGs of its time and this one greets you with over the top saturated colours and an immensely distracting lens flare (produced even by your own torch that you can't put away at the beginning to make sure you can't escape being blinded all the time). The original game did a great job of creating immersion by giving you a minimal standard HUD while this one uses all sorts of little floating icons to both make sure you can see items you can pick up through walls and also don't get too immersed. To break immersion even more cutscenes were implemented where the original solely survived on your own experience in the world. The original put you in your place right away by simply killing you if you were an idiot and ran against strong enemies. In some cases you just had to run away, simple as that. This one puts you into a fight you can't win, doesn't allow you to run away and then gives you a cutscene and long dialogue to ensure you understand that you aren't strong enough to take on some monsters. In the original you had to listen to the things people tell you and make your own connections, but here we have a glossary being introduced to us. I could keep going, but there's really no point. I'm honestly sad this is how it turned out to be. I'm such a big fan of the series, I have hundreds of hours in this game and even play the original nowadays despite the clunky controls and shitty graphics. If just those would have gotten an upgrade and everything else stayed the same I would have thrown my money at them. However this teaser feels like they are just trying to make money by using a very popular name and making a completely different game with it. Side note for German players: Despite it being originally a German game and the remake being made by an Austrian studio there is no German voice over, only subtitles that don't entirely match what is being said. As this is just a teaser that is likely going to change though, but best to start in English right away.

  I loved a lot of things about Gothic back in the day, but I do not recall loving "constant streams of unskippable cutscenes" and "combat that feels like you are slogging through wet mud." Not being able to remap the controls was a huge red flag, and things just got worse from there. I do not think it is impossible the remake will be good or something, but here we are 4 years later and still no release date in sight, so maybe they realized this was not shaping up so well.

  -combat sucks, some wannabe For Honor Shit -graphics meh -dialog veeeery sloooow and boring, didnt pay attention to halve of it, nearly fell asleep -the main character wont shut up, he comments everything he does, i wouldnt mind if it was funny but its not, just cringe (jumped off a cliff just to see him die) Even at the very first cutscene i got disapointed cuz i didnt get thrown in and then punched in the face. Now i never got into it expecting it to be as good as the original, but the game is simply not good.

  Definitely not perfect but I will most likely grab this game if it gets released. The graphics really could use some work. My husband walked by while I was playing and was shocked at what I was playing. He said it looked terrible. ( he is not a gamer but he sees what I play ) The movements and combat felt a bit clunky but not terrible.

  i understand why this dog shit game has so many negative reviews. i went in with an open mind and am truly disappointed. awful.
