  I want to like this game but I can't give it a thumbs up. You will not find a more passionately engaged Vietnam war gamer than me. The game play of this game though is just silly. You get stuck on rocks and struggle to get off them. The enemy usually one shots you in the forehead even when youre prone and hiding in a bush. I don't mind a really hard game but this made me laugh at how ridiculous it was. The best things honestly about this game are the atmosphere and the sound. Amazing. Really atmospheric. The game play though ... No. Wish there was a more modern version.

  Update-was able to get a hold of a windows 7 pc, and now can run the game. The hardest game you'll ever play, my thoughts.

  Once the actual game engine starts, plays fine, feels like ARMA0. Didn't start on W10 until I put "vietnam.exe" into compatibility mode WinXPSP3. Like R6: Lockdown, there's a separate menu process that runs at a fixed 640x480 resolution. So enjoy waiting 30s every time you switch from the game to the menu. The game itself runs perfectly at 2560x1440, with tiny wee icons. If you try to close the window without going waiting through the menu screen again, menu will get stuck above all your other windows. Ctrl+Alt+Del and logout, or Ctrl+Shift+Esc vietnam Alt+e to blind kill it. This also prevents that play's time being counted by steam.

  Well, its not bad at all. Old school, may be, but good! I was searching for something a bit harder... Jeez lol, Charlie get you down at the first second with one bullet, totally hidden, AT EASY DIFFICULTY :D I passed the first mission, so I guess I can make it XD Its kinda realistic; war never was easy anyways.. There is a kind of tragic suspense, negative tension in the air, little stressful music playing when the action is about 2 pop, and some scared GI pictures on the menu. The game makes you feel like its totally gonna rape you up where it does hurt, bashing your honor without any mercy. BUT HEY, IM having fun here!! As a Vietnam War games huge fan, I am truly satisfied. And yes, I love the smell of napalm in the morning!! PS; After playing for 5 hours, at the night mission, the game crash all the time when i try to start it. It was a good game but it was made on an older system and that can bring some problems.

  I loved this game in middle school. It's a neat little budget stealth FPS. The graphics are surprisingly good too especially for a budget game and I think they still hold up. What does not hold up is the draw distance. I always wished for a mod that removes this limitation. There's not much to say really. My only real criticism is the game's romanticization of the Vietnam war. It's no Platoon, Apocalypse Now or Full Metal Jacket. Modern Windows is also not too kind to the game. There's this bug where you get stuck in decorations like rocks and tree trunks while going over them and have to stop then resume going forward. I remember this game not having this issue back when I played it on Windows XP. And my final criticism is really minor. Enemies can see you through grass and bushes while you can't see them.

  So, everybody is playing CoD Modern Warfare 2 these days, and what do i do? Play a crappy budget Vietnam shooter originally released for Xbox all the way back in 2003? Damn right, only that it‘s surprisingly not that crappy.

  Let’s start with the obvious: A story is not really there in Line of Sight Vietnam. You’ll get some diary entries / inner monologue of your character in the mission briefing- and debriefing screens, apart from that it is just a linear sequence of 12 rather unconnected typical Vietnam missions: Blow up those AA guns, rescue this guy, kill that guy, yada yada. What’s way more surprising is how decent and entertaining the gameplay and presentation are overall. The grafics and animations are serviceable at the very least and the sound effects and music are actually pretty good for a budget game. The score is really cineastic and the jungle actually sounds like the jungle, which does a lot for the game‘s atmosphere. The gun sounds and voice acting are perfectly okay, too. Even the AI of your fellow comrades is quite effective in navigating the terrain and spotting and killing enemy soldiers. They get stuck or loose you now and then, but the good thing is that you can just switch between controlling you and your buddy by the press of one button and just walk them back to your main character‘s position. You can also give them a handful of basic orders which they, to my experience, followed well enough. The enemy AI on the other hand is the one major point of criticism. It is pretty cheap most of the time and usually spots you from ten kilometers away and through the thickest bushes. At least the game lets you know from which direction you are shot at via the indicators around your crosshair, so it ain’t all that bad. Of course you can make your life miserable and painful by cranking the difficulty up to the max and turning on realistic damage, but why when you can also do the exact opposite: Turn everything on easy, play it like a casual run‘n‘gun shooter and breeze through the 12 missions in less than 4 hours. I played it like that and didn’t die a single time. I was just casually running through the jungle, shooting dozens of Vietcong with a sniper rifle and it was actually quite entertaining. It should be mentioned that the guns are all modeled relatively faithfully, but don’t behave realistically at all. So, is there anything to complain about apart from the obnoxiously cheap enemy AI? Well, on higher resolutions some of the HUD and text is so small that you can barely read it and use it to good effect. Trying to read your miniscule compass at a resolution of 2540x1440 is pure terror for your eyes. And then there is the compatibility. Once the game runs, it runs perfectly fine, but the thing is it starts up properly only every 10th or so time. The other 9 times it just crashed back to the desktop or even froze my entire system when i booted up the game. There were some occasional framerate hick-ups, too, but as is always the case, your mileage on those technical problems may vary. Line of Sight Vietnam is far from being the best Vietnam game of it‘s time and the current 10 Euros still might be a bit too much, depending on your expectations. But if you are looking for a decent budget Vietnam shooter and don’t need triple A production values and see this thing on sale, i‘d say give it a try. Don't waste any money on this. ( ) 1/8 Bad. Seriously flawed with barely any redeeming qualities. Worth a couple of Cents at best, if at all. ( ) 2/8 Sub-par. Only for hardcore-fans of respective genre / series. Don't pay more than 5 bucks. ( ) 3/8 Meh-diocre. It‘s okay. Don't pay more than 10 bucks. (X) 4/8 Decent, but not for everybody. Don't pay more than 15 bucks. ( ) 5/8 Good game, Must-play for genre- / series-fans. Worth 20 to 25 bucks max, if you are not a fan. ( ) 6/8 Great game, universal recommendation. 30 bucks would be a steal for this. ( ) 7/8 Outstanding game, a milestone of it‘s respective genre. Definitely worth its full prize. ( ) 8/8 Simply one of the best games ever made. Get this, the prize doesn't matter.

  [h1]Line of Sight: Vietnam[/h1] [i]Line of Sight: Vietnam / Developer: NFusion Interactive / Release Date: 5 Mar, 2003 I can confirm that the game works in Windows 10 and also it has ultra wide screen support - playing on 2560x1080 !!! No iron sight / the keys can be rebind / on last difficulty 1 shot means 1 kill or death if the enemy sees you / the graphics look great for a 2003 title and the amount of vegetation and the way it is rendered ( which is the main strength of this game ) really works in your favour / great atmosphere , sounds and music . You have a silent kill status :D - its a slow game in the sense that you cant rush or make much noise because the enemy will feel you and you have to be more tactical - i tried more the stealth approach which is hard , or even bypassing some enemies / the maps are fairly large / problems if you want to ALT + TAB / no jump - but you have crouch and prone / you can switch between 1st person and 3d person ( which is bugged in animation when moving prone at least for me - but only the 3d person view ) , but stay with 1st person because its more immersive / you can stay a little stuck in objects like rocks and trees / - highly recommended game for FPS fans ![/i]

  Well what can I say... For me this is the best co-op game ever made... Was my first fps game. I used to play a lot with my friends online and was amazing. The grafhics still impressive if you considering how old it is. The rain and vietcong voices sound in the jungle make you thinq that you are realy there... I still play this game online with my friend using HAMACHI software that allow you to create a LAN HOUSE and play together. I bought the game again so I can have on my STEAM. I highly recomend.

  This game was made in 2003. So the game has its age and doesn't have any PERFECT mechanic or gameplay like today modern games. Pros: + It has most common guns during the Vietnam War. + You have to play stealth and spam alot of those "Quick Save" button cuz enemies are stealth with you as well. + It contains VIETNAMESE BAD WORDS. I laughed hard when the Viets Soldiers say that " son of the b i t c h" + It is my childhood. I am vietnamese myself. I was naive kid who came to game shops and bought the disks twice. But that doesnt stop me from having fun. + Old game but it still runs well in window 10 with high resolutions Cons: - AI is old and crappy which all we should expect from old games. - I dunno what the guns' spray patterns are. They are random. Just try to go for the taps. [spoiler] Sorry i am used to cs [/spoiler] - Allies sometime block your way out like ladders, doors, ect. They are old AI xd Bonus: [spoiler] Don't you dare shoot the old granny in the game [/spoiler] I hope you guys enjoy my old childhood game and have fun with it. Just enjoy and have a laugh on an old game x3
