  A very fun but not perfect game: What I liked: - You don't need to know every Harry Potter book/movie before playing Hogwarts Legacy to get immersed into this world - Hogwarts and its surrounding areas are built in high detail and provide an awesome atmosphere - Exploration is fun, as the world is believable and well designed - The combat system seemed unusual at first but I ended up loving it. Might actually be one of my favourite mechanics of all video games I played: It is fast paced, dynamic and (at first) challenging, but once you get the hang of it, the fluid combat is just satisfying - Some of the quests were really fun What I didn't enjoy: - After an interesting start, the first third or first half of the game felt repetitive and somewhat tedious: To learn Spell X you talk to professor Y but he or she won't teach it to you unless you do some basic fetch quest type of tasks first. Learn the spell and repeat the process over and over again - This way of storytelling repeated all over the main quest line. The main quest itself would have been several hours shorter, if the people you need information from would just give it to you. Instead, you often end up having to do them some favors first or do preperation work. This does in fact make sense and wouldn't be an issue, but after a few hours you start to notice this repeating pattern. (The second half of the game is more interesting in my opinion) - The game would have benefited from more depth in terms of RPG mechanics. Meaningful choices, more interactions in the open world. The majority of NPCs in the game are just for decoration (e.g. generic students all over the castle) but only a small amount actually has a purpose for the quests.

  Fantastic Hogwarts recreation, mind numbingly bland game

  I've only played 15 hours and do still plan to finish it, but I've seen everything I need. It's a product for die-hard fans who probably never played a video game before and might probably never play one after this. <*>Insultingly generic open world gameplay that anyone who's been near a video game seen countless times for at least last 10 years. <*> THAT puzzle design. You know it. The one where the puzzle is easy enough to be solved by my cat, yet main character spurts hints or entire solution every 5 seconds. You’d better keep an eye on high places around the school for Zenobia’s Gobstones! <*> You can look but not touch. You get a visually stunning lively wizarding world you barely can interact with. A fantastic model, a beautiful display behind the impenetrable glass. <*>Falls flat on it's face in delivering the experience of living the life of a Hogwarts student. Same as before, look, not touch. No meaningful interactions with other students, can't sleep in the common room, can't eat in a great hall. No schedule, no life, no prefects to catch you wondering at night, you can't even sit on a damn chair. <*>Everyone speaks like in a badly directed stage play. With weird inflections, over exaggerating emotions. Humans do not speak like that. TL;DR - A stunning visual recreation of Hogwarts in which you can make numbers go up gathering meaningless collectibles, while engaging in most bland, generic, token open world gameplay one can imagine.

  the grind is real. if you are doing anything besides the main story this game becomes very repetitive. this game was definitely made for harry potter lovers and not gamer's. my wife who has almost no experience with gaming loves the game and i can see why this game so popular. all of that aside the graphics are beautiful and the ability to explore openly helped cure the dull grind of side quests.

  Anyone who enjoyed the 'Harry Potter' game series will simply love this fresh take on the backstory, as well as the game play. Not to mention the subtle changes I have noticed since first started playing, From quick fixes to major game glitches in a timely manner, to the Floo Flames having different voice lines for certain town. Plus all the fun side action and comments. It's really an excellent game.

  don't listen to negative reviews on YouTube. If you are true fan of Harry Potter sequels, you will like this game.

  Great graphics, engaging story. I typically play a game for 30-45 min then get bored. With this game I've caught myself sitting for 6-8 hours without even noticing.

  Too many invisible walls, too much hand-holding through the game, not enough customization, not enough fantastic beasts, not enough unique playable areas, not enough spells, not enough dragon content, boring quests, too many spiders, not enough freedom, why can't I attack fellow Hogwarts students? Why can't I attack Hogwarts teachers? Why is the broomstick camera fixed so you can only look to the sides? Why am I not allowed to use the killing curse on civilians? Why are boss enemies so mediocre? Why can't I blow up magical creatures? Why can't I blow up people's homes? Why can't I blow up Ernie? Why can't I blow up that little gremlin in the Room of Requirement? Why can't I blow up cats? 8/10 The graphics were nice.
