Mushroom Men: Truffle Trouble Funciones

Available on Steam March 10th - Mushroom Men: Truffle Trouble

Mushroom Men: Truffle Trouble will be available on Steam on March 10th!

Truffle Trouble is a unique game featuring Pax, the hero of Mushroom Men, that combines classic platforming action with imaginative puzzle-solving as you must move, stack, and use objects to create new paths to jump and clamber on, all while the besotted Truffle Princess draws ever closer.

About the Game

Mushroom Men: Truffle Trouble is a unique platforming game featuring Pax, the hero of Mushroom Men.

Pax is trapped in a terrible nightmare. You control Pax as he is pursued by the besotted Truffle Princess, combining classic platforming action with imaginative puzzle-solving as you must move, stack, and use objects to create new paths to jump and clamber on, all while the Truffle Princess draws ever closer.

Being in a dream, even if it is a nightmare, can have its advantages. Pax can transform into different forms to help him negotiate the world, each with its own distinct and powerful abilities. You can use the forms to scamper across vertical walls, turn invisible, or even fly across vast chasms, but using them at the right time is the key.

Mushroom Men: Truffle Trouble hooks you with its distinct gameplay, then keeps you engaged with its beautiful worlds, quirky humor, and Pax’s super-powered forms.

  • Platforming - Pax can run, jump, climb, cling to ledges, push, pull, and grab objects, and use his special Form abilities to overcome obstacles.
  • Puzzles - Pax is able to manipulate his environment through stacking or moving objects in the world, allowing you to creatively use parts of the environment to create new paths for platforming your way forward.
  • The Chase - As you move through the levels you are under a time pressure: the Truffle Princess is after you, steadily smashing her way through the level. You must find a way to keep ahead, increasing your lead enough so that you have time to puzzle through the tricky parts. Even the most basic stretches of levels become critical as you push to stretch your lead.
  • Enemies - Scattered throughout the levels are opponents that you want to avoid or destroy. Each opponent has a different set of abilities. Some move about in a small area, others fly about and attack you from range. You either need to avoid them and their attacks, or land on them to squish them.
  • Forms - Truffle Trouble features five new Forms that Pax can mutate into, each one with its own set of distinct powers and movement abilities.

    • Ghost Pax, who is invisible to enemies and the Princess.
    • Moth Pax, who can fly.
    • Spider Pax, who can walk on walls and ceilings.
    • Mole Pax, who can tunnel through dirt with his powerful claws.
    • Super Pax, who can run and jump faster and higher than trains and tall buildings.

As much as I loved the Mushroom Men game on the Wii I this game doesn't really feel like a Mushroom Men game. It feels more like a puzzle game with "Mushroom Men" just slapped on so fans of the original game will play it. Now the game feels a bit like a Catherine clone, (another game I enjoyed playing) but with much more difficult puzzles to solve. Your biggest enemy will be the jump button as there is a big delay in the jump which will lead to you falling. The lack of checkpoints also make the game frustrating if you come to a diffuclt puzzle and fail to complete it in time you have to start the level all over again. Though fun for the first few hours it gets old fast. I recommend getting the game while it is on sale.

From what i've played, strangely enough, this game feels like it's a Android/IoS App version of the Atlus Game "Catherne". Thing is, it's still more action orienated than catherine, which in my opinion is a good thing. The premise is much more funnier too. Yes, i do dislike the 3-stars rating per level thing, but seeing that Les Claypool's music is in this game as well, that makes up for it. good for a short burst gaming. Plus the cutscenes are pretty damn good in my opinion

Hello everybody! I'm the number one Mushroom Men fan, as it says on my profile. This review is going to be a fairly in-depth critique of the game that discusses most of the the features of the game so here goes. The gameplay of this game is fairly straight forward. You platform your way to the far right side of the level, through means of pushing, pulling and lifting boxes of nails. The game is crazy hard barely giving you enough time to complete each box puzzle in a given level. This difficulty is welcome, as I find difficult platformers like this or Cuphead with a significant level of difficulty much more fun than those that aren't as difficult. It gives you the means to improve your tactics or your high score/record speed. An issue I have with it though, it the issue of the fixed camera. I found myself being confused by the angle at witch I was playing, ending up in some unfair deaths. I do think this game would have a much more vibrant community if there was some sort of level creator. This kind of thing would lead to a whole bunch of creative ways of utilizing the mechanics of the game. The graphics of the game are very nice, thought the features that are truly interesting lay in the background. The levels tend to look boring, and it upsets me that the features from the Spore Wars weren't included in a bigger way. The story of the game is quite simple with Pax, the main character, being stuck in a nightmare with the "Truffle Princess" trying to get to him. I am a big fan of the special abilites featured in the game, though I wish they were featured in a way that made them a requirement in parts of the level. That's about all there is to talk about. With its cost of $3.29, I think you should definitely buy this game and give it a go for yourself. Though it isn't as amazing as the wii game, it's still a fun as hell time.

1/10 would not recommend. Even though it was only $2.99, I highly regret spending even that little money on this. Where's the undo button when you need it?

I cannot recommend as a pure platformer: - The 3D fails, i.e., depth of elements cannot be told, you never know if 2 tiles are on the same perspective and if you are jumping onto something or into the void. - Worse yet, soft-locks will force you to restart levels. Soft-locks occur when you lose access to blocks because of where you moved them to; then you cannot progress anymore. The level design is so bad that these happen quite frequently. - Controls are not even good enough. Each controller button does too much, contextually, therefore you are going to perform a lot of actions that are not what you wanted to perform. I recommend even less as a Puzzle-Platformer, the genre I thought it belonged to: - Every level is designed around a timer. You can take out the timer by selecting easy difficulty, however the challenge then disappears completely, as barely any thinking is required to reach any collectible. - The numerous deaths due to the bad 3D or controls do not hurt when the timer is off, because you respawn instantly on the last tile you touched. The soft-locks are still there to grate however. - And so there is nothing left to enjoy but the art. In a good puzzle-platformer, the design focuses on good puzzles. It then lets you speedrun or solve extras if you crave for more hardships. Here, they did it backwards, they designed a speedrun, then realised how much it sucks, and quickly patched a non-clocked mode. (Which is not per level, by the way; you must quit to main menu and restart a full, independent game.) In the end, Mushroom Men is but a railroad promenade with chances of soft-locks. Unfortunate, as I like the visuals a lot (despite the abusive reuse of backgrounds,) same appreciation for the music (same parentheses for the music,) and the various mechanics are classic fun (trampolines, cannons, slippery floors, sticky floors...) Great presentation, colorful and humorous. Big fan of the characters design. One additional flaw, representative of the overall quality: When the protagonist climbs high enough, you can't see him anymore; he is outside the screen.
