  A Classic! Childhood's fav! Still good as an adult. Main Mission are enjoyable and grindable. Solo gameplay is fun too. Wish there were more missions.

  A great strategy game with a nice balance of economy and fighting. It makes you think about the logistics behind an army movement and in huge maps makes it criticial.

  As a gamer who hasn't played many RTS games, this is probably the best one of the few that I have played. I have spent hundreds of hours playing this game as a kid, both the single player and the multiplayer. The story is really good and hooks you up from the beginning. One thing that I really like about this game is that you don't need to be an RTS expert to get into it. The game spares you the need to learn how to build a stronghold, it is built for you. This is probably why the game is so appealing to me. (RTS noob) In the single player campaign you will not deal with managing a stronghold as much, but occasionally you will be given limited control over some. When it comes to managing strongholds either in single player or multiplayer you have 3 main resources: Gold, citizens and food. Gold is produced by the citizens. Citizens are produced by food. Food is produced in villages. You will not have to deal with iron or crystal mines. In this particular game you have three factions: Gauls, Romans and neutral Teutons. My favorite thing about the game is how realistic the units and the buildings are presented. Everything from the regular hastatus soldier to the gladiator arena feels authentic, like coming out from an encyclopedia. In fact the help menu with buildings and units description is like an encyclopedia itself. Below are my thoughts on the Steam release ------------------------------------------------------------ Pros: -You have the game digitally and you can proudly stamp the game on your profile and let everyone know that you have it. -You get an authentic old school game with an amazing RPG inspired story. -Simple to understand RTS mechanic, perfect for anyone who has never played an RTS game. -Beautifully rendered 2D graphics with attention to detail. -Omg, the soundtrack of the game! Cons: -The game still renders in a 4:3 resolution, meaning the image will be stretched if played on a widescreen monitor. -The game does not come with the handy updates from the second and third game, where you can bind your units on the left side of the screen, you have to remember the number that you have bound the unit to. -No language selection. I particularly own the Bulgarian CD-ROM version of the game, it would have been nice to have that on the Steam version. I really hope that Haemimont Games will bring Nemesis Of The Roman Empire (also known as Kartagen) and Imperium III (hopefully with English cutscenes) 10/10 for the Steam release, might be a bias because of nostalgia, but I don't care :D PS: If your game freezes at the opening logos > Just alt-tab and then alt-tab back in, you'll be good ;)

  Finally! My CD's been broken for 13 years now. I get to play this nostalgic, fantastic game as much as I want to now! It's a shame that I have two jobs... :(

  So I must say that I'm a bit disappointed I didn't find Celtic Kings - The Punic Wars, but this is pretty much the same but a bit smaller, so I'm not all that upset. Anyways, the game is very much worth a try if you can live with a few annoying problems that comes with not-quite as good compatability as one could have hoped for. If you enjoy semi-deep strategy with unit leveling, heroes, troop-type skills, some lovely magic, a wide array of artifacts and items and some pretty damn awesome battles, the grab this and give this classic a go. Now you like me, might run into some issues so I'll leave a little guide to how I got the game running in case it refuse to work. 1. Find the map CK_RageofWar in your Steamfolder. Steam->SteamApps->Common-CK_RageofWar 2. Right Click on the CelticKings program icon and open Properties. 3. Click the Compatibility and then change from whatever Windows version it's trying to run, to Windows 98. 4. *Important!* Always open your game via in this folder, or a desctop shortcut to this folder, if you don't the game will instantly crash to desctop. *Important!* 5. If you have an issue moving the view around, use the arrow keys, or use Space Bar and click on the map where you want to look. This issue seem due to the game and your computer not having the same resolution and some of your right and bottom screen are outside of the game window and unfortunetly I have no solution to this. Anyway it's a very fun game and I do recomend it for its well thought out balance, units and generaly very good controls. And who knows, maybe they'll release Punic Wars as well and fingers crossed, make sure it works well with the newer Windows.

  For it's time, a truly legendary game for old RTS players (outside of C&C/RA or Warcraft/Starcraft) with a very interesting story that gave you the feeling of adventure, misery and struggle. Unfortunately as of 26/08/2020 it is unplayable (as it has not been updated to deal with modern systems). A great shame, because this is definitely one of those games I would have loved to "bring back" and make playable for everyone game. Would have been nice if they brought along the expansion : Celtic Kings: Punic Wars (or Nemesis of the Roman Empire)
