  [h3][b][i]Venni, Vidi, Vici[/i][/b][/h3] Unlike [i]Halo: Combat Evolved[/i], [i]Halo 2[/i] displays signs of a game with a coherent vision; We have lore, an entertaining sci-fi tale, characters with a personality, quirky jokes, and the Chief firmly establishes his dominance over any inhabitant in the galaxy, past, present and future. So, let's first address one of [i]Halo: Combat Evolved[/i] biggest cons - story. We finally have a face to put on our villain, with more depth given to the Covenant besides - [b][i]they be angry aliens[/i][/b]. They have their creed, ranks, beliefs, and we see why these halo rings are important to them. Plus, [i]Bungie[/i] finally figured out what [i]Halo[/i] is supposed to be - [b][i]an epic sci-fi saga,[/i][/b] with Chief being the embodiment of the phrase - [b][i]"show don't tell".[/i][/b] And the game is self-aware in this regard; It knows what it wants and does it marvellously. Can some lines be cheese? Yes. But so what? It isn't supposed to be some extraordinary piece of writing that can rival Shakespear or Lovecraft. It's here to provide you with an unforgettable couple of hours, and it does so splendidly. So, sit back, relax, and let Master Chief do what he does best - [b][i]stuff![/i][/b] https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2649292402 But [i]Halo: Combat Evolved[/i] did lay the foundation for the superb gunplay of the series. That much is true. And it's simply perfect. Every gun is responsive, movement is fluid and precise, and dying is only the product of your carelessness. There are no fancy powerups, skills, abilities, etc. Just you, a gun, or two, and a whole lot of Xeno scum you need to eradicate. Simple. [i]Halo 2[/i] did bring in some minor changes, but the core gameplay loop is very much intact. Health packs are gone, and instead, the Chief has an "[i]invisible[/i]" health bar, like any modern FPS title. Shields still recharge automatically, but faster, so that's nice. Besides that, dual-wielding is now a thing. While not ideal, rocking two needlers is super fun, as enemies go [i]boom[/i] quicker. Sadly, the assault rifle is gone, and in its place, we have the battle rifle - a more precise weapon, unlike the assault rifle that just splurges everywhere. In the end, while it doesn't go [i]brrrrrrrrr[/i], [i]but brrr brrr brrr[/i], it still gets the job done. Besides the excellent gunplay, [i]Halo 2[/i] retains all the strengths of the enemy design from its predecessor. With new enemies come new strengths, weaknesses and mannerisms that require your attention. The Elites received some new ranks, impacting their behaviour and perception of the battlefield. And alongside the returning favourites, the cast of enemies is expanded with the ever raging and storming brutes, stealthy sniper jackals and mosquitos that can shoot back, dispersing the possibility of encounters becoming dull. But, since we don the armour of the Arbiter along with that famous green spartan armour, the covenant arsenal needed some new toys as well. So we got - [b][i]fuel rods, plasma swords, carbine and beam rifles.[/i][/b] Every single one is such a blast to use and expands your options when killing stuff is concerned. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2678506630 Besides providing us with an actual story and some minor gameplay changes, [b][i]Halo 2[/i] massively steps up its game with location variety and level design.[/b] Each location is new, with none resorting to lazily copy-pasting one single level tile endlessly. However, the levels do follow a simple formula; Linear corridors that connect to more spacious areas where you usually do the deed. On top of that, vehicle sections are now more prominent and fun, receiving a nice upgrade with a fair share of new vehicles. In short - [b][i]Everything is cranked up to 11[/i][/b] But this is not where our fun train ride stops. It seems [i]Bungie's[/i] creative juices didn't just flow, they caused a [i]flood[/i]. Each location acts as the foundation for the art direction of future [i]Halo[/i] games, taking us on a [i]great journey[/i], galaxywide. We explore the stronghold of the Covenant, see first-hand their [i]modus operandi[/i] and why they seek the holy rings. We also briefly [i]go [b]back[/b] home[/i], witnessing first-hand the future humankind has built for itself. But, this is [i]Halo[/i], so there must be a halo ring to [i]infect[/i], so this time we explore the mysterious Delta Halo. A [i]grave[/i] full of disease rests below its ancient forerunner structures, listening, planning, waiting for the chance to for the labour of its [i]mind[/i] to bear fruit. But [i]Halo[/i] also has an ample amount of quiet moments, where you can simply take in the scenery and the exceptional backdrops. You also have the option to play in remastered graphics and watch remastered cutscenes that put some movies to shame. This provides [i]Halo[/i] with plenty of eye candy to show; Textures, models, backdrops and effects...All of it is enhanced, but it doesn't deviate from the original vision of [i]Bungie[/i], like the remastered graphics in [i]Halo: Combat Evolved[/i] tend to do. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2653604334 Now, I've talked about [i]Halo's[/i] gameplay, art direction, story, but there is one constant that never falters and is present throughout each game made under Bungie's wing - [b][i]the soundtrack[/i][/b]. My ears have never known such an angelic melody and will forever be ruined for other games, as no other franchise will come even close to matching the epicness of [i]Halo's[/i] soundtrack. Going from a slower, sombre, orchestral tone to one that exudes epic energy will never cease to amaze me. There are plenty of guitar solos as well, but I prefer the orchestral tracks, especially the game's theme. It has so many different [i]faces[/i], never missing its mark, perfectly capturing that sense of awe, tranquillity or epicness when the moment demands it. In essence, [i]Halo 2[/i] is the epitome of a perfect sequel; Everything [i]Halo: Combat Evolved[/i] struggled with, from its level design, poor story or restricted arsenal, [i]Halo 2[/i] improves and refines to near perfection.   Another well enhanced version of what is probably my favorite of the series. Back in the X-Box days Halo was fun but the ranked multiplayer of Halo 2 was insanely addicting at the time. Lots of great times with friends in co-op and pvp! The story mode is also pretty sweet with the introduction of the Arbiter and the Brutes making things pretty interesting. Definitely worth a try!

  The only thing that i can fully say 343 did right is Halo 2 Anniversary, the campaign half at least.

  Absolutely abhorrent but sadly believable from the company that raped the legacy of one of the greatest FPS series ever into the ground. There are several missions in this game that are impossible to play in co-op because the game WILL crash and send you to the lobby screen at some point. You could waste an hour with a friend struggling through a legendary campaign and then get slapped in the face by an unavoidable crash. There is no desire from 343 to fix this. Pathetic rubbish from a company that is a blight on the industry. I would still be mad if it were only one mission but the fact that it's at least THREE of them is despicable.
